  • The acid response of Bifidobacterium longum subsp. longum BBMN68 has been studied in our previous study. The fab gene, which is supposed to be involved in membrane fatty acid biosynthesis, was demonstrated to be induced in acid response. In order to investigate the relationship between acid response and cell membrane fatty acid composition, the acid adaptation of BBMN68 was assessed and the membrane fatty acid composition at different adaptation conditions was identified. Indeed, the fatty acid composition was influenced by acid adaptation. Our results showed that the effective acid adaptations were accompanied with decrease in the unsaturated to saturated fatty acids ratio (UFA/SFA) and increase in cyclopropane fatty acid (CFA) content, which corresponded to previous studies. Moreover, both effective and non-effective acid adaptation conditions resulted in decrease in the C18:1 cis-9/C18:1 trans-9 ratio, indicating that the C18:1 cis-9/C18:1 trans-9 ratio is associated with acid tolerance response but not with acid adaptation response. Taken together, this study indicated that the UFA/SFA and CFA content of BBMN68 were involved in acid adaptation and the C18:1 cis-9/C18:1 trans-9 ratio was involved in acid tolerance response.

  • This paper shows an optimal design for reinforced concrete rectangular combined footings based on a criterion of minimum cost. The classical design method for reinforced concrete rectangular combined footings is: First, a dimension is proposed that should comply with the allowable stresses (Minimum stress should be equal or greater than zero, and maximum stress must be equal or less than the allowable capacity withstand by the soil); subsequently, the effective depth is obtained due to the maximum moment and this effective depth is checked against the bending shear and the punching shear until, it complies with these conditions, and then the steel reinforcement is obtained, but this is not guaranteed that obtained cost is a minimum cost. A numerical experimentation shows the model capability to estimate the minimum cost design of the materials used for a rectangular combined footing that supports two columns under an axial load and moments in two directions at each column in accordance to the building code requirements for structural concrete and commentary (ACI 318S-14). Numerical experimentation is developed by modifying the values of the rectangular combined footing to from "d" (Effective depth), "b" (Short dimension), "a" (Greater dimension), "${\rho}_{P1}$" (Ratio of reinforcement steel under column 1), "${\rho}_{P2}$" (Ratio of reinforcement steel under column 2), "${\rho}_{yLB}$" (Ratio of longitudinal reinforcement steel in the bottom), "${\rho}_{yLT}$" (Ratio of longitudinal reinforcement steel at the top). Results show that the optimal design is more economical and more precise with respect to the classical design. Therefore, the optimal design presented in this paper should be used to obtain the minimum cost design for reinforced concrete rectangular combined footings.

  • The paper considers a spectrum sharing cognitive radio (CR) network coexisting with a primary network under the average interference power constraint. In particular, the secondary user (SU) is assumed to carry delay-sensitive services and thus shall satisfy a given delay quality-of-service (QoS) constraint. The secondary receiver is also assumed to be equipped with multiple antennas to perform maximal ratio combining (MRC) to enhance SU performance. We investigate the effective capacity of the SU with MRC diversity under aforementioned constraints in Nakagami fading environments. Particularly, we derive the optimal power allocation to achieve the maximum effective capacity of the SU, and further derive the effective capacity in closed-form. In addition, we further obtain the closed-form expressions for the effective capacities under three widely used power and rate adaptive transmission schemes, namely, optimal simultaneous power and rate adaptation (opra), truncated channel inversion with fixed rate (tifr) and channel inversion with fixed rate without truncation (cifr). Numerical results supported by simulations are presented to consolidate our studies. The impacts on the effective capacity of various system parameters such as the number of antennas, the average interference power constraint and the delay QoS constraint are investigated in detail. It is shown that MRC diversity can significantly improve the effective capacity of the SU especially for cifr transmission scheme.

  • Dredged materials for effective use in Hwasun-port pollution analysis, Ni(nickel) in excess of the standard showed that the whole point. However, according to the revised standards effective utilization exceeds the reference value, even if no anthropogenic sources Pearl ratio less than 10% of the average weight of the ecotoxicological tests have passed, and if so it can be used to beach nourishment. Therefore, the average weight ratio of pearl and ecotoxicological tests were conducted by marine environment official test method. Mud to 5.37% of the average weight ratio lower than the reference value of 10% that was investigated. Ecotoxicity test using bioluminescent bacteria relative luminescence inhibition in the 0 to 9.13% with no toxicity was determined using benthic amphipods in the control and the test sample relative to the average survival rate is 0% with no toxicity was determined. Therefore, the revised effective use meets all the criteria that can be used to beach nourishment, so that the suitability was assessed.

  • Silicon nitride($SiN_x:H$) deposited by radio frequency plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition(RF-PECVD) is commonly used for anti-reflection coating and passivation in crystalline silicon solar cell fabrication. In this paper, characteristics of the deposited silicon nitride was studied with change of working pressure, deposition temperature, gas ratio of $NH_3$ and $SiH_4$, and RF power during deposition. The deposition rate, refractive index and effective lifetime were analyzed. The (100) p-type silicon wafers with one-side polished, $660-690{\mu}m$, and resistivity $1-10{\Omega}{\cdot}cm$ were used. As a result, when the working pressure increased, the deposition rate of SiNx was increased while the effective life time for the $SiN_x$-deposited wafer was decreased. The result regarding deposition temperature, gas ratio and RF power changes would be explained in detail below. In this paper, the optimized condition in silicon nitride deposition for silicon solar cell was obtained as 1.0 Torr for the working pressure, $400^{\circ}C$ for deposition temperature, 500 W for RF power and 0.88 for $NH_3/SiH_4$ gas ratio. The silicon nitride layer deposited in this condition showed the effective life time of > $1400{\mu}s$ and the surface recombination rate of 25 cm/s. The crystalline silicon solar cell fabricated with this SiNx coating showed 18.1% conversion efficiency.

  • The paddies in the hillsides in Gonggeun-myeon, Hoingseong-gun, Kangweon-do keep a steep slope and run in and out. A land consolidation in such an area, therefore, will require high ratio of land loss and a large amount of earth moving if it follows the existing design criteria to separate drainage and irrigation ditches in a scheme. Due to the consequent decrease in construction cost, the project has not been envisaged. in order to secure the introduction of small-medium size farm machineries into the paddies, farm plots were planned to be straight and drainage with taking care of topography. Findings from the comparison of methodologies are as follows. 1. In places with a solpe of more than 1/30, a reduction in earth moving can be expected with parallel plots to the contours. 2, For the sake of effective using of farm machineries, it is thought that a plot should be running straight parallel to the contours and the ratio of length and width of a plot be more than six. 3. In places with a slop of more than 1/10, a reduction in earth moving and a effective introduction of farm-machineries can he expected with straight parllel plots to the contours. But it is undesirable to introduce a scheme in this places because of the difficulties in acreage computation and farmers' hesitation. 4. The system with a canal for both irrigation and drainage is highly effective to decrease the ratio of land loss as well as construction cost. 5. Parallel plots to the contours and a canal for both irrigation and drainage are highly effective in the decrease in construct cost. 6. To avoid the subdivision of a cooperation in farming is desirable of a plots, has more than two owners.

  • Effect of the process parameters of the cogging process on the void crushing has been studied in order to identify the most effective factor. The process parameters considered in this study are die width ratio, reduction ratio and pre-cooling time before cogging process. Void crushing analysis with the selected process parameters was carried out using FE analysis. The results of FE analysis were evaluated by Taguchi method. It was found that the efficiency of void crushing increases with an increase in the values of all selected process parameters and the principal factor controlling the void crushing was identified as the reduction ratio.
