The growth and employment effects of R&D investment were analyzed according to business size, export value and manufacturing sectors so as to suggest improvement directions for effective industry policies. The effect of R&D investment was considered simultaneously from the two perspectives of growth and employment effect, and the causality analysis was carried out by using a path analysis. The result of the path analysis confirmed significant differences in the growth effect of R&D investment depending on business size. However, the effect of increasing employment was difficult to obtain statistically significant results for any various combinations of business size and export value. This is a mixture of directions for the effects of R&D investment on employment, which could be due to the failure to consider appropriate time lags between investment and effect. Efficiency analysis by industry sectors confirmed significant differences in efficiency depending on business size, but differences depending on export value were difficult to identify. In order to derive improvement policy by industry sector according to business size and export value, the direction of selective support policy and universal support policy was derived for six industry groups by combining the return to scale in the efficiency analysis and R&D concentration. Hirschman-Herfindahl index is used for calculating R&D concentration.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to introduce the main concepts of statistical testing and effect size and to provide researchers in nursing science with guidance on how to calculate the effect size for the statistical analysis methods mainly used in nursing. Methods: For t-test, analysis of variance, correlation analysis, regression analysis which are used frequently in nursing research, the generally accepted definitions of the effect size were explained. Results: Some formulae for calculating the effect size are described with several examples in nursing research. Furthermore, the authors present the required minimum sample size for each example utilizing G*Power 3 software that is the most widely used program for calculating sample size. Conclusion: It is noted that statistical significance testing and effect size measurement serve different purposes, and the reliance on only one side may be misleading. Some practical guidelines are recommended for combining statistical significance testing and effect size measure in order to make more balanced decisions in quantitative analyses.
Purpose: This study aimed to identify the effects of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training using a meta-analysis by effect size. Methods: The effect sizes for each variable and the overall effect size for the collected data were identified. The homogeneity verification of the effect size and the difference among the average effect sizes for each mediation variable were determined. Results: The overall average effect size for CPR training was 1.747. Homogeneity verification of the overall effect size was a Q-value of 3716.962, which was statistically significant (p=.000) when${\alpha}=.05$. CPR training showed statistically significant differences depending on age (p=.002), sex (p=.006), number of trainees (p=.000), research design (p=.000), training method (p=.027), and practical training tools (p=.000). Conclusion: CPR training can effectively improve knowledge, skills, and attitudes about CPR. The results of this meta-analysis contribute to the development of more effective educational guidelines for future CPR training and the advancement of the CPR education field.

From 2002 to 2013, the Facility Modernization Project showed a 6.948 trillion won effect on production inducement, a 2.1109 trillion won effect on value-added inducement, and 40,209-person of effect on employment inducement in total. Conclusions - This study provided an empirical demonstration of a clear effect of the governmental support to traditional markets on developing regional economies. In particular, this study empirically analyzed and presented that there were a considerable amount of an economic effect by region due to governmental policy support to traditional markets.
When evaluating effectiveness of a R&D program, there is a tendency to simply compare the performances of the beneficiaries before and after the program or to compare the differences in the performances of the beneficiaries and the non-beneficiaries before-after the program. However, these ways of evaluating effectiveness of a program have some problems because they can not differentiate between complement effect, which facilitates corporate R&D investment, and substitute effect, which, literally, substitutes corporate R&D investment. Therefore, these problems could bring about wrong policies concerning R&D programs. In this paper, a new approach using path analysis is suggested as a means to overcome these problems and it is utilized, as an application, to evaluate the effectiveness of Plant Engineering Program conducted by Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy, Korea. First, the direct impact of government R&D investment on corporate R&D investment is analyzed, through which it is identified which of crowding-in effect (complement effect) and crowding-out effect (substitute effect) is dominant. Next, the direct effect of government R&D investment on corporate performance and the direct effect of corporate R&D investment on corporate performance is analyzed respectively. Finally, by combining the two previous analysis, the total effect of government R&D investment on corporate performance is identified. As a result, it turns out that, in Plant Engineering Program, crowding-in effect is more dominant than crowding-out effect and that Plant Engineering Program has definitely positive effect on the beneficiary in terms of corporate performance indirectly and directly.
This study performed factor analysis for 21 independent variables related to the effect of illumination and suggested the effect by multiple regression analysis on the relationship between the effect of illumination and the satisfaction of use of a dependent variable to find the effect of illumination in urban parks at night and the effect of illumination on the satisfaction of use. The results of this study are as follows; 1) Of the 21 independent variables used to study the effect of illumination in urban parks at night, the impact on safety and possibility of crime was highly. The effects of illumination by factor analysis were abstracted as effects of removing anxiety, securing safety, increasing use. 2) As a result of multiple regression analysis, independent variables influencing satisfaction of use in urban park were proved as effects of removing anxiety, securing safety, increasing identity, preparing atmosphere and increasing use. Also, the effect of securing safety was the most important factor; it showed a level of importance 2 times higher than the effect of removing anxiety, and 7.7 times higher than the effect of preparing atmosphere in relative contribution of the effect of illumination to satisfaction of use. 3) Of the effects of illumination influencing satisfaction of use in urban parks, the effect of securing safety and the effect of increasing visibility were more significant than the effects of removing anxiety, preparing atmosphere and increasing use. This fact means that personal safety an the identity of persons or facilities in the space of use should be considered with priority in planning or designing illumination. Also, it implies hat, for night use in urban parks, lightness of the space is required for general safety of use at parks, and proper illuminance on the activity in the space of use should be required. The subject parks of this study are 8 urban neighborhood parks. The model on the effect of illumination and the satisfaction of use depends on characteristics and conditions of location of he park and user class, so the subject parks and persons should be varied, and the difference by sex or ages should be suggested.
Korea Electrical Safety Cooperation(KESCO) have provided the electrical safety speed-call service from 2007 year. Purpose of the service is to reduce discomfort of electricity use and to prevent electrical accident like as electrical fire and shock accident by providing emergency treatment service on fault of the residential electrical facilities notified in the specific house like as a lower-income group and a social welfare facility. But efficiency and economic evaluation of the electrical safety speed-call service is impossible because analysis on the quantitative effect of the service is difficult. This paper presents cost-benefit analysis method and result of the electrical safety speed-call service. The presented cost-benefit analysis method has a two-step process: the first step is to measure quantitative electrical fire prevention effect of the service by using electrical accident statistics and developing outcome analysis logic model of the service effect, and the second step is to analysis cost-benefit(B/C)of the service by calculating quantitative benefit analysis on the measured quantitative electrical fire prevention effect. The results showed that cost-benefit(B/C)of the electrical safety speed-call service is over 4 after 2010 year.
The objectives of this study are to clarify the impacts of stack effect in high-rise residential buildings and to present technical methods to reduce stack effect. For the evaluation of stack effect, architectural design guidelines were used and computer program simulations based on network model were performed. The evaluation shows that problems due to stack effect may be reduced by appropriate architectural designs, such as increase in air-tightness of building envelop, and provision of vestibules around entrance and elevator hall doors.

In cancer microarray experiments, the experimenter or patient which is nested in each experimenter often shows quite heterogeneous error variability, which should be estimated for identifying a source of variation. Our study describes a Bayesian method which utilizes clinical information for identifying a set of DE genes for the class of subtypes as well as assesses and examines the experimenter effect and patient effect which is nested in each experimenter as a source of variation. We propose a Bayesian multilevel mixed effect model based on analysis of covariance (ANACOVA). The Bayesian multilevel mixed effect model is a combination of the multilevel mixed effect model and the Bayesian hierarchical model, which provides a flexible way of defining a suitable correlation structure among genes.
The purpose of this study was to verify the effect of mobile fashion shopping characteristics and perceived interactivity on perceived usefulness, and the effect of perceived usefulness on purchase attitude and purchase intention based on TAM (Technology Acceptance Model). We conducted the survey targeting smartphone users in their 20s~30s living in Seoul and metropolitan area. Among 483 data collected, we used 452 samples except 31 unreliable respondents for the analysis. To analyze the structural equation model, we did factor analysis, reliability analysis, and structural equation model analysis using SPSS 18.0 and AMOS 16.0. The results were as follows: We confirmed 5 mobile fashion shopping characteristics (enjoyment, credibility, instant connectivity, security, and personalization) and 3 perceived interactivity factors (control, responsiveness and two-way communication, and contextual offer) as results of confirmative factor analysis. Mobile fashion shopping characteristics and perceived interactivity had positive effects on perceived usefulness. Mobile fashion shopping characteristics affected perceived interactivity and also had indirect effect on perceived usefulness via perceived interactivity. In other words, mobile fashion shopping characteristics had direct and indirect effect on perceived usefulness. Perceived usefulness influenced purchase attitude and purchase attitude influenced purchase intention. Perceived usefulness had direct effect on purchase intention and the indirect effect through purchase attitude was significant.
