  • A modern museum has been changed from a passive place for simply exhibiting arts and antique collections to an interactive place for learning and experiencing culture and information. Such a functional change of the modern museum requires not only reorganizing fundamental characteristics of the modern museum, but also reforming organization of management teams, changing attitudes of staffs and assigning new roles to staffs for accepting the new thought and approach of visitors. That is, the function of the modem museum is not limited to collect arts and antique collections. The fundamental change of the modern museum further requires using the collections as a tool or a medium to provide a cultural exchange between the visitors and the museum, and to give new experience and information to the visitors. After proposing discussion that ' how, what, who is related to the museum? ', the way of thinking the museum is changed from ' collection ' to ' communication '. The change of the modern museum improves an educational role of the museum, and makes the museum as a communicator exchanging information and experience with visitors. In the last analysis, the modern museum is not just an exhibition medium that simply transfers information of the exhibition mediums to public. The modem museum is also a communication medium in order to collect information and transfer the collected information to the visitors. That is, the modern museum should provide various exhibition and communication mediums to the visitors for exchanging information and cultural experience. Therefore, the modern museum requires additional functions processing information suitable to the present environment and level of the museum, and transferring the information to public.

  • This research is on the characteristics and roles of important cities of Germany based on the history of the modern art museum and its possessions. Especially, it is focusing on the modern art museums in the western Germany including Dusseldorf, Koln, and Frankfrut that have shown economic recovery from the Miracle of Rhine; the capital city of Germany, Berlin, as well as Munich, the second capital city of Germany. Here, it harmonizes with the tradition of the past and simultaneously, it spreads the concept and role of the new museum as a forerunner. After the WWII, this is the most active of supporting investment for art museums and authors from the economic development. Also, it represents Germany with its national promotion of culture and arts. The modern art museums of Germany emphasize the mission that they exist for the people and the nation as well as creation of new art culture. These art museums working for national culture and art development do not simply collect and preserve arts. They induce active involvement from the public and keep in mind of national objectives. Here, art museums become and educational setting for the people and a room for new art culture. This research is on Germany modern art museum and it is composed of important 'public institutions' of Germany that critically influence the growth of world-renown authors. After the unification of Germany, Munchen and the western region became an important places centering around new Berlin modern art museum. They are the best places that show the national objectives and regional characteristics. Also, there are art museum educational curriculum and open space for the people by explaining exhibition plans and contents. Furthermore, there are two characteristics of German modern art museums that are noteworthy. Firstly, there are Berlin's Neue Nationalgalerie, Munchen's Pinakothek de Moderne, and Dusseldorf's 'K20' (Kunstsammlung N-Westfalen K20) that are the roots of modern art. These modern art museums exhibit popular author's collection repeatedly. This has a tendency to standardize audiences' view or to make audiences bored. It is becoming more like a trend for art work to appear and disappear. Despite these problems, German modern art museums play a critical role for a new cultural art creation and for the national identity by attempting to show the works of domestic authors as well as an intensive collection of world-renown authors' works. Secondly, there is a role as a new art museum to work together with people. It strives to continuously educate difficult modem arts, exhibits in an open space stimulating interest, participation, and conversations. From these roles, Hamburger Bahnhof Museum fur Gegenwart or Dusseldorf's 'K21, Frankfurt Museum $f\"{u}r$ Moderne Kunst, $Kf\"{o}ln$ Museum Ludwig are given new attention. Here, they emphasize the importance of communicating with the audiences and provides experiences that are different from the original spaces by showing the architecture tecture style of the art museum. In conclusion, German modern art museums attempt various changes by connecting to art education. With art museum activities, there forms a connection between arts and the lives of people, and from this, creative cultural art focused on the art museum borns. This is not only limited to Germany, the U.S., etc. We, too, should pay attention to new art culture creation from changes of role and function of modern art museums.

  • In this study, we investigated the characteristics of curriculum design of pre-service chemistry teachers who participated in educational program for teaching in science museum. Three pre-service chemistry teachers at a college of education in Seoul participated. The educational program was composed of workshop, lesson planning and practice, and critique. After the workshop, we conducted semi-structured interviews based on pre-visit, during-visit, post-visit activities planned by the pre-service teachers. We observed and recorded their teaching practices in Gwacheon National Science Museum and following critique by their classmates. We also conducted final interviews. We used a framework for museum practice to analyze their curriculum design. The analyses of the results revealed that all planned their lessons in accordance with the National Science Curriculum, and considered geographical and psychological aspects in their pre-visit activities. They encouraged students to make joint products through small group activities, and gave students autonomy in choosing exhibits to facilitate spontaneous participation. However, they did not consider continuous aspects of pre-visit, during-visit, and post-visit activities. They did not effectively induce students to engage during-visit activities cognitively. They did not make post-visit activities connect students' experiences in science museum to personal experiences.

  • As the share of leisure culture increases these days, expectations are rising for the high quality of culture while increasing interest in leisure and tourism. The percentage of the population going on weekend trips to broaden the horizons of elementary, middle and high school students has continued to rise in proportion to the expectations for cultural enjoyment. We expect that visitors' weekend family activities will include relaxing, playing and educational purposes. Recent educational programs have moved from the past where only children were allowed to be onsite, to a shared style in which parents can engage in educational activities, potentially leading to the implicit involvement of family ties and family elasticity. The effects of education are not expressed by the period that ends in a single moment of experience, but by the continuity of training and experience. The same holds true for family affinity, communication and empathy. Providing opportunities for family experience and education is a national responsibility for broken family and restoring solidarity with the growing number of single-person households. Furthermore, it is a duty of museums and galleries today, and it is necessary to come up with methods to enhance family solidarity and family affinity. In particular, it is imperative to develop and provide educational programs for educational purposes at the Education Museum, and to develop " education for family " at the social level. This paper aims to analyze the results of all family participating education programs provided by family education programs at the Education Museum through family surveys and interviews, and to enhance the activation of family types education programs more actively.

  • In the modern era, perceived as the century of culture, the pure meaning of information in various medium is becoming extinct and the distinction between media and reality being faded away. Such phenomenon is called "simulracre". Gilles Deleuze defines "simulracre" as an event that passes by momentarily. To the modern people, the museum should be sublimated into a space that reflects not only the various surroundings but also education and should be a space that can provide diverse experiences. For museum exhibit communication, storytelling is a method that can meet the need of audience and take one step forward in educational and emotion aspect. Considering such relationship, "event" can be an evidence to build a space by establishing relations with subject and determine the meaning of space. First, characteristics of event and requisite and the theoretical view of storytelling will be examined, followed by the analysis of event storytelling by selecting Holocaust Museum which attempted a new approach that has dealt with what is important to the Jews: 'holocaust'. The purpose of this study is to identify how "event", not remaining as an abstract term, is being present in Holocaust Museum with a new spatial perspective, and to provide the public with a different set of thinking and experience.

This categorization aimed to provide recommendations for enhancing the Geochang Wolseong Space Creative Science Museum as an illustrative case study. Futhermore, the study examimed the relative importance of each factor by surveying 90 science museum visitors. The following results are obtained. Firstly, it was evident that the Geochang Wolseong Space Creative Science Museum requires urgent improvement. Certainly, in the primary factors, issues related to the utilization environment emerged as the most significant sources of dissatisfaction, while in the sub-factors, the adequacy of fees was identified as the most prominent concern. Secondly, through the result of the IPA (Importance-Performance Analysis) of the complaint factors, four primary issues were identified as top priorities for consideration: fare adequacy, lack of convenient facilities, in sufficient publicity, and a lack of distinctiveness compared to similar facilities. Lastly, when analyzing the relationship between complaints and overall satisfaction, factors related to human service, environment, and educational content had negative effects. In contrast, factors associated with science museum operation exhibited a different trend, suggestinga structural impact relationship with the overall impact of complaints.
