A Study on improving the Functions of Authoring Tool for Educational Contents (교육용 콘텐츠 저작을 위한 개발 툴 기능 개선 연구)

  • With the development of information and communications technologies, there have been increasing cases of services and use free educational materials in educational field through the Web. However, as most of the materials are provided in a finished form via the Web services, teachers are in a situation where they have difficulty in using the materials through development or revision according to their educational goals. In this background, this study aimed to develop requirements and functions necessary for the educational contents development tools by having teachers as actual users develop contents using existing tools of the educational contents development. As a result, this study developed 10 requirements, including intuitive interface environment, support for various multimedia materials, and diversification of output versions etc. Also, the study suggested 13 functions, including links with external resources, automatic format conversion function, usage and editing of existing documents, writing learner's answers, and hiding function etc.

  • To meet the high demand of the experts in the multimedia industry, many colleges opened the subject related to multimedia technology and pre-learning has been rapidly increasing among the students. However, most instructor is still appling the traditional teaching model rather than the one customized for the pre-learner of multimedia. This paper is to reveal the pre-learner's strong desire in detail and suggest the characteristics of the teaching model and teaching materials. We applied the new paradigm, constructivism and problem-based learning, which rising in the educational literature to suggest and design the lecture model to bring up the experts in the multimedia industry.

Effective Image Retrieval for the M-Learning System (모바일 교육 시스템을 위한 효율적인 영상 검색 구축)

  • As the educational media tends to be more digitalized and individualized, the learning paradigm is dramatically changing into e-learning. Existing on-line courseware gives a learner more chances to learn when they are home with their own PCs. However, it is of little use when they are away from their digital media. Also, it is very labor-intensive to convert the original off-line contents to on-line contents. This paper proposes education mobile contents(EMC) that can supply the learners with dynamic interactions using various multimedia information by recognizing real images of off-line contents using mobile devices. Content-based image retrieval based on object shapes is used to recognize the real image, and shapes are represented by differential chain code with estimated new starting points to obtain rotation-invariant representation, which is fitted to computational resources of mobile devices with low resolution camera. Moreover we use a dynamic time warping method to recognize the object shape, which compensates scale variations of an object. The EMC can provide learners with quick and accurate on-line contents on off-line ones using mobile devices without limitations of space.

  • 학습자 중심이라는 큰 장점을 가지고 급속도로 발전해 가는 온라인 교육의 세계적인 흐름에서 어린이 영어 교육사이트에 있어 어린이들에게 흥미를 높여주고 동기를 유발시키며, 추상적인 언어를 살아있게 해 주며, 적은 용량으로 애니메이션을 표현할 수 있는 플래시 애니메이션 활용의 필요성을 알아보았고, 기존 영어교육사이트의 플래시 애니메이션을 분석해 본 결과. 작업이 제대로 이루어지지 않아 동영상으로 보여줄 수 있는 상황의 이해, 학습동기 유발, 집중력 향상 등의 학습효과를 기대하기 어렵다. 사용자에 대한 많은 연구와 플래시 애니메이션의 적극적인 활용과 개선을 통해 어린이를 위한 온라인 영어 교육이 충분히 제 역할을 다 할 수 있는 계기가 되리라 기대한다.

  • 교육용 컨텐츠의 재사용성과 공유를 확대하면 컨텐츠 개발의 중복성이 감소하므로 효율성을 높일 수 있고, 비용절감의 효과를 가져올 수 있다 본 논문에서는 SCORM 스펙을 따르는 재사용 가능한 교육용 컨텐츠 개발을 위한 프로세스를 12개의 활동으로 정의하고, 재사용 가능한 교육용 컨텐츠로 교육사이트를 개발하는데 이 프로세스를 적용하였다. 개발된 영어교육사이트는 8개의 재사용 가능한 컨텐츠로 구성된 프로토타입이다.

  • In this paper, we describe visualization pursuant of developing 37 Honored Ones within the Diamond World Mandala. “The 37 Honored Ones” are a collective term for 5 Buddhas and 32 Bodhisattvas that were built on the basis of Vajrasekhara Sutra. Also, as core values of Buddhism, they represent ideas of Esoteric Buddhism systematically and symbolically. “The 37 Honored Ones” are completed by the development of 4 Buddhas from Vairocana and their interaction with 16 Great Bodhisattvas and 16 Offering Bodhisattvas that were also developed from Vairocana. So, in this paper, we analyze and visualize the development of “37 Honored Ones.” This line of research is significant because it aims to convert narrative structure of the conventional Buddhism scriptures into various types of digital contents. Also, applications of the implemented visual digital contents can be as follows; educational service for Buddhist doctrines, development of the various Buddhist cultural contents, etc.

  • Flash contents for education can embody easily complex interactions with learner by splendid contents of various multimedia and animation. Moreover, they provide high class user interface and have advantages of inducing learner's interest and concentration. However, authoring flash content requires the skill to use the Flash tool, which is too difficult for professor to make the educational Flash contents. In this paper, we proposed the system that professors can make the Flash contents automatically by selecting something necessary and typing texts on the web. Also, the reusability and usability of the implemented system is analyzed in the viewpoint of professor by comparing with conventional method to reuse the Flash contents from various viewpoints.

  • The appearance of Intelligent mobile and home appliance increased the using of not only various multimedia contents but also educational contents. Especially the growth of smart device such as smart phone, smart pad and smart TV, provided the environment which everyone can use educational content anytime, anywhere, any device. However many smart devices are hard to reuse the various educational contents because the devices and mobile os policies are not unify. In this paper, we suggest the design of NeS(N-Screen e-learning system) in order to solve this problem. NeS is consisted of User Management, Educational Content Management, Content Convert System and Interactive Management System. In this system, we use the HTML5 language to assure interoperability in various Smart Device Environment. Through NeS, we can achieve Content OSMU(One Source Multi Use) in various device environment and assure the continuity of the contents for using the educational contents more easily.

  • Technological development, a diverse range of media adapting to new technology has been developing. Augmented Reality Technology provides realistic information through the stereoscopic 3D images and it has been riding a wave of learner interest as an educational media which can broaden their learning experience through direct operating activity. The biggest reason why the Augmented Reality has gained such attention is because of its unique way of suggesting learning information that unlike the existing educational media, the Augmented Reality provides additional digitalized information while its users are looking at the actual object. Based on the domestic and foreign cases of development for educational contents using the Augmented Reality Technology, this thesis suggests the utilization of Pop-up books and multi-augmented Digilog Books that are ways to maximize the educational effects of the Augmented Reality. Through the development of smartphone applications that are propagating lately at a rapid rate, users can now use the Augmented Reality educational contents in a way that is easier than ever.

  • This paper develops a multi-casting system could be used in a school and hospital and government and municipal public offices. The developed multi-casting system uses various educational multimedia titles effectively and is capable of remote control by using a network(LAN). The developed system includes speaker control module that make individual or group broadcasting, AV contents control module for using a diverse educational multimedia title effectively and light control module. The system uses RS-485C communication module and the effective control system interface based on GUI.
