To analyze the data, SPSS 19.0 for Windows was used to conduct frequency analysis, factorial analysis, credibility analysis, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Duncan's multiple comparison. The results of this study were as follows. Four dimensions of cultural diversity education were derived by factor analysis: cultural equality, diversity implementation, diversity value, comfort with diversity. As for their awareness about cultural diversity education, it was in the order of cultural equality, followed by diversity implementation, diversity value, and comfort with diversity. The groups were significantly different according to demographic variables. As for the whole awareness about cultural diversity education and the diversity implementation, group of age 40 teachers recognized more highly than other groups. Furthermore, teachers outside Jeonbuk area recognized more highly the cultural equality, diversity implementation, diversity value than those in Jeonbuk, which is the 3rd high area in the nation of multicultural family proportion. As for cultural equality and diversity implementation, teachers over 15 years of experience, recognized more highly than other groups. Those with the teacher certification in the college of education, recognized more highly the cultural equality, diversity value, comfort with diversity than teachers from the other colleges. Teachers who need multicultural education, recognized more highly cultural equality, diversity implementation, awareness of diversity than those who don't. These results imply that in home economics education, there must be more systematic studies on school field education and related educational programs in order to revitalize multicultural education. And for teachers with highly recognizing cultural diversity to conduct a systematic multicultural education more efficiently, there should be both systematic pre-service education programs at college level and in-service education programs for the teachers in terms of cultural diversity education.

  • This study investigates fathers' demands for fathering education. Data from eight married, working men was collected through in-depth interviews. The interviews were intended to examine their father-role, working life, balance between work and family, and demand for the educational programs for fathers with particular regard to the themes, contents, and arrangement strategies they desire of the programs. The results show that fathers have a high demand for learning detailed methods of childrearing such as how to effectively sooth and play with their child(ren). Further, it was discovered that job flexibility is the major variable that determines a man's satisfaction with his parental role. Various information about possible arrangements of fathering education was collected from the interview data, such as desired themes, number of sessions, size of the educational program, volunteer role of participants, and focus of the course (e.g., many indicated interest in focusing on gender equality). This study reveals that greater detail, more effective contents, and efficient managerial strategies are required in fathering education in order to impart broader perspectives and knowledge about how to enhance the relationship between father and child(ren).

  • The thesis is to look for the method of applying process drama for bilingual education in multicultural society. This purpose can be resolved in three steps: first, to understand the purposes and functions of education changing to multicultural society; second, to survey the need of bilingual education conformed to its purposes and functions; last, to understand the theoretical background of process drama and seek the method of utilizing it to bilingual education. Recently, the Korean society is also changing to multicultural society with international marriages and immigrant workers. But they have difficulties in communicating in Korean, and their children have even the same. Under the basis of multiculturalism wanting peace and mutual respect between cultural groups, they have to be educated in equality. This is why the bilingual education is needed in our society. Process drama, a widely used term for educational drama in Britain, claims its effectiveness for L1, L2 and bilingual education, for the principal medium in drama is language and what drama delivers is related to meaningful human experiences. It is also supported on script theory of linguistic therapy. Kase-Polisini classifies the developmental process of education drama into 1) planning, 2) playing and 3) evaluation. This process can be applied to educational drama for language as well. Rather, educational drama applying to bilingual education has even more availability with the varieties of group organization and subject matter. Conclusively speaking, the group of dual language schools can be organized into 1) mother-tongued group, 2) mother-tongued and L2 group, 3) multilingual group, or 4) L3 group in educational drama activity, as the class generally consist of the mixed multilingual children. And the subject matter can deal with 1) the Korean society and culture, 2) the society and culture of the purposed language country, or 3) the society and culture of the third nations.

The author also seeks policy implications for establishing just educational systems for older citizens. On the basis of Rawl's Justice Theory, the essential principles for realizing social justice are presented. The author points out the Veil of Ignorance and Rational Indifference. As the practical methods for achieving social justice, the author presents Exclusion of Coincidence, Difference Principle, Democratic Equality, and Common Asset. Implications for establishing just education systems for older adults include: 1) The least advantaged groups such as older adults, females, and the disabled should not be discriminated in the distribution of educational resources; 2) People with higher capacities are obliged to serve less capable people; and 3) Older adults should mobilize all resources to empower themselves and to develop their potentials. The author concludes that Rawl's Justice Theory can be tapped into as a useful ideological framework in order to expand educational resources and opportunities for older adults.
