A Study on the Development of an Education and Design Package for Transformer and Induction Motor Using JAVA (JAVA를 이용한 변압기, 유도전동기, 교육 및 설계 패키지 개발에 관한 연구)

  • There have been great advances in communication and networking in recent times. It is necessary to take advantage of this information infrastructure for the purpose of developing an engineering education system. But the networking system was expensive or hard to develop. The current international networking is converging to the use of the World Wide Web system. It has become a new standard for global network communication. But there are not a great number of applications which take full advantage of this environment. In this paper an interactive education system for engineering education using the World Wide Web will be presented. This can be used as a supplementary kit for engineering education of transformer induction motor design. The system is developed using JAVA and can be accessed using Web browsers.

Comparison of Characteristics between $L_1-B_4$ mode and $L_1-B_8$ mode Ultrasonic Motors ($L_1-B_4$모드와 $L_1-B_8$모드 초음파 선형 전동기의 특성 비교)

  • Purpose of this research compares best transfer speed about applied frequency and voltage using characteristic of $L_1-B_4$ mode and $L_1-B_8$ mode linear ultrasonic motor that use piezoelectric effect. By method of study, analyzed best transfer speed measuring and comparison load status that use actuality telephone card in $L_1-B_4$ mode linear ultrasonic motor and no-load status of $L_1-B_8$ mode linear ultrasonic motor. Experiment result is applied frequency(58.4Hz) in $L_1-B_4$ mode linear ultrasonic motor (load state) and the best transfer speed by 19.8[cm/s] at applied voltage(56V) point. Also, $L_1-B_8$ mode linear ultrasonic motor (no-load state) is best transfer speed by applied frequency(27.9kHz) and 32.96[cm/s] at applied voltage (50V) point.

Effects of Regular Physical Activities on Young Children's Basic Motor Skills and Daily Stress (규칙적인 신체활동이 유아의 기본운동능력과 일상적 스트레스에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of regular physical activity program on young children's basic motor skills and daily stress. The outdoor physical activity program was conducted with 40 participants who were divided into two groups(experimental group and control group) for 10 weeks twice a week. Results of the study were as following. The outdoor physical activity program improved young children's basic motor skills in the experiment group compared to the control group. Also it had positive effects on the reduction of daily stress in the experimental group compared to the control group. This result suggests that the physical activity program have positive effects on the development of young children's basic motor skills and the reduction of daily stress.

  • In this paper a design of educational robot based on a PC and/or a microprocessor is discussed. The educational robot has 5 DOF and Is made with Swiss Mini Servomotor and Motor Controller IC LM629N. Also, a GUI(Graphical User Interface) is programmed by Visual Basic. This system is completed to consider control properties of the educational robot with 5-DOF that can be changed the parameter of controller by software.

  • Linear pulse Motor(LPM) are used a field where smooth linear motion is required, and it's position accuracy higher than that of a lead. According to the advantage such as simplicity of mechanical frame, high reliability, precise open_loop operation, low inertia etc LPM is applied largely where it have made motor of this kind more and more attractive in many application areas such as factory automation and high speed positioning. This paper is researched to analyze for thrust force characteristic of hybrid LPM. Both the thrust and normal force are very sensitive to the airgap and tooth pitches of the force and platen. To find the optimal design parameter on the hybrid LPM for the embroidery machine. For the field analysis, the finite element method(FEM) is employed for calculating the force. The reluctance models will be used the magnetic permeance of airgap under static-conditions. The forces between forcer and platen have been calculated using the virtual work mathod.

Design and Construction of a Quad Tilt-Rotor UAV using Servo Motor

  • Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that have been recently commercialized can largely be divided into fixed-wing aircraft and rotor aircraft by their styles and flight characteristics. Although the fixed-wing aircraft represents higher power efficiency, higher speed, longer flight distance and larger loading weight than the rotor aircraft, they have a disadvantage of requiring a space for take-off and landing. On the other hand, the rotor aircraft can implement vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) and represents various flight modes (hovering, steep bank turns and low-speed flights). But they require both precision take-off control and attitude control. In this study, we used a quad-tilt rotor UAV to combine advantages in both the fixed-wing aircraft and the rotor aircraft. The quad-tilt rotor (QTR) system was designed and constructed by adding a tilt device with a servo motor to a general quad-rotor vehicle.

Effects of Positioning Education Program through Oral Explanations or Brochures for Parents of Premature Infants with Brain Lesions and the Satisfaction Level of Physical Therapy at Discharge

  • Purpose: This study examined the effects of a positioning education program through the brochure or oral explanations for the parents of premature infants with a brain lesion and investigated the satisfaction level of physical therapy of parents of premature infants with a brain lesion. Methods: Forty parents of premature infants with a brain lesion participated in this study. The recruited premature infants were randomized into groups A (n=20) and B (n=20) for the purpose of the positioning education method through brochure or oral explanations. The level of satisfaction and recognition for the positioning education program was investigated by the parents of 12 month old infants. The gross motor function, measure-88, was examined at three months, six months, nine months, and twelve months of the corrected age. Results: No significant differences in the recognition of the position education program, level of satisfaction of the environment, and the attitude of the therapist were noted (p>0.05). Significantly high levels of satisfaction with the program of group B given the brochure were noted. The gross motor function measure-88 was also similar in both groups (p<0.05). Conclusion: This study suggests that the parents were satisfied with the positioning education program of the brochure. The differences in educational methods did not affect the development of premature infants.

Transient paraplegia after neurolytic splanchnic block in a patient with metastatic colon carcinoma

  • We present a patient with metastatic colon carcinoma who developed paraplegia following a neurolytic splanchnic block. A 41-year old man with metastatic adenocarcinoma of the colon received a splanchnic neurolytic block using alcohol because of severe abdominal pain. Bilateral motor weakness and a sensorial deficit in both legs developed after the procedure. Diffusion magnetic resonance imaging revealed spinal cord ischemia between T8 and L1. The motor and sensorial deficits were almost completely resolved at the end of the third month. We think that anterior spinal artery syndrome due to reversible spasms of the lumbar radicular arteries using alcohol have resulted in transient paraplegia. The retrograde spread of alcohol to neural structures may have also contributed.

A Study on Cogging Torque Reducing Method of A BLDC Motor (BLDC Motor의 코깅 토크 저감에 관한 연구)

  • 최근 BLDC 모터는 널리 사용되고 있지만, 불필요한 코깅 토크가 발생된다. 본 논문에서는 BLDC 모터의 코깅 토크 감소 방법을 설계하고 실험 하였다. 이론을 바탕으로 한 이 방법은 모터의 Magnet을 움직여 고주파성분을 제거하여 코깅 토크를 감소시키는 방법이다. 4극 24슬롯 BLDC 모터를 이용하여 Flux2D로 시물레이션 하고 계산 결과를 얻었다.

Convenient and Economic Mechatronics Education Using Small Portable Electronic Devices (휴대용 소형 전자장비를 이용한 편리하고 경제적인 메카트로닉스 교육)

  • Although mechatronics education in a mechanical engineering curriculum is recently recognized as important, its experimental education has been done generally in the laboratory equipped with all the apparatus and could not be done at home by students. This paper introduces experimental educations on mechatronics, e.g., digital logic circuits, 7-segment LED drive, square wave generation, microcontroller programming using assembly and C languages, timer interrupt, and step motor drive using a small 5 V power supply, a breadboard, various electronic and electric components, a microcontroller and its programmer, a step motor, and a student's PC. In the developed mechatronics course, experimental educations are scheduled in parallel with content's lectures together, and cheap and economic experimental environment is prepared for students in which students can easily practice experimental works in advance or later at home by themselves.
