A Study on Optimal Operation of Microgrid Considering the Probabilistic Characteristics of Renewable Energy Generation and Emissions Trading Scheme (신재생에너지발전의 확률적인 특성과 탄소배출권을 고려한 마이크로그리드 최적 운용)

  • A microgrid can play a significant role for enlargement of renewable energy sources and emission reduction because it is a network of small, distributed electrical power generators operated as a collective unit. In this paper, an application of optimization method to economical operation of a microgrid is studied. The microgrid to be studied here is composed of distributed generation system(DGS), battery systems and loads. The distributed generation systems include combined heat and power(CHP) and small generators such as diesel generators and the renewable energy generators such as photovoltaic(PV) systems, wind power systems. Both of thermal loads and electrical loads are included here as loads. Also the emissions trading scheme to be applied in near future, the cost of unit start-up and the operational characteristics of battery systems are considered as well as the probabilistic characteristics of the renewable energy generation and load. A mathematical equation for optimal operation of this system is modeled based on the mixed integer programming. It is shown that this optimization methodology can be effectively used for economical operation of a microgrid by the case studies.

  • Many services have been served by the exiting subway systems since they have opened in 1975. But its efficiency and competition were going down because of the high construction cost and difficult connection with other transportations, etc. Otherwise, the light rail transit system is much lower construction cost than the subway and the high way building. Also those systems are good at the inexpensive operation cost, the fixed time and safety, the easy access. Recently, the several provinces are planning or advancing the light rail transit system because of these many benefits. Consequently, those system's economical feasibility analysis is required rapidly to show the resonable construction's cause and to get the private investment. This paper offers the system's economical feasibility through the several benefit analysis after the light rail transit system's construction.

Development of Economical Run Model for Electric Railway Vehicle (전기철도차량 경제운전 모형 개발)

  • The Optimization has been performed to search an economical running pattern in the view point of trip time and energy consumption. Fuzzy control model have been applied to build the meta-model. To identify the structure and its parameters of a fuzzy model, fuzzy c-means clustering method and differential evolutionary scheme are utilized, respectively. As a result, two meta-models for trip time and energy consumption were constructed. The optimization to search an economical running pattern was achieved by differential evolutionary scheme. The result shows that the proposed methodology is very efficient and conveniently applicable to the operation of railway system.

  • This paper presents an optimal capacity design of a Hybrid generation system based on economical evaluation for various loads. Optimal sizes of a standalone and grid connection wind- PV hybrid systems were designed for normal, residential and industrial loads using HOMER (Hybrid Optimization Model for Electronic Renewable). Their economical evaluation were performed and compared with a diesel generation system that covers the same loads. The results showed that the stand alone hybrid generation system can be more economical than a diesel generation system for long term operation.

  • This paper presents the optimal operation scheduling of the private cogeneration system connected with auxiliary equipments. And the optimal size of auxiliary equipments is determined through evaluations of the minimum operation cost. The optimal operation scheduling is established by using the linear programming method. Simulation results show that the auxiliary boiler is operated as an economical facility but the thermal storage tank is used as a back up facility for emergency.

  • The Yong-san rolling stock depot in which KORAIL does the maintenance of PP was required to move to the other place, so there are some disputes how to treat PP rolling stock, that is, early scraping, extending life-span or introduction of intercity EMU, but introducing a new train are very expensive and also very risky, so executed economical analysis for the precision political decision. For the specific analysis, set some scenario, first uses PP to their life span, second, introduces new intercity EMU, third, extends the life-span of PP by rolling stock precision diagnosis. Largely, maintenance cost, operation cost, rolling stock value are used for the economical analysis. This research is the specific case of KORAIL, but this result can be a valuable data in the perspective of operation cost between diesel rolling stock and electric rolling stock.

  • In recent years, geothermal heat pump (GHP) systems have become increasingly popular for heating and cooling in buildings. The Standing Column Well (SCW) method is one of the most efficient GHP system. Because it use groundwater for heat transfer material. In SCW systems, water is re-circulated between the well and the building (heat pump). It is only a short time since this method has been applied in domestic. So we have to refer to the developed countries' guides and manuals of SCW. In this paper, several design and construction points of SCW method are filed. We used real operation data of SCW system at Chong-Ju Univ. site for economical efficiency analysis. As a result, the payback period of Chong-Ju Univ. site is calculated at 7.23 years.

  • The bus as a feeder trip should supply equality service to the whole community. But in spite of the change of latent demand to the bus by the variety of regional structural change, the existing bus route can not supply effective feeder service. For cope with the latent demand to the bus, this study establish a concept that frame of the bus operation and management. This study tackled to evidence this fact by analyzing the bus transport problems in terms of the urban growth, and following issues were discussed: 1) the strategy for improvement of bus operation, 2) the land use control which is appropriate for the public transport network, 3) the economical range to justify the bus operation, 4) the allowance for the private transport mode. On the second part of this study, the difference on the bus operation was compared to determine the range within which the bus operation can be justified. This would provide the direction to improve the management for bus operation and fundamental information to develop the bus operation system.

  • This paper describes the distribution power system econimical PQMS(Power quality monitoring system) of Utility. Recently, the korea power quality standard has been established based on the IEC Std. By IEC Std., the power quality assessment point is measured in PCC(Point of common coupling). In this case, the utility has to construct PQM system in all customer PCC point and the PQ meter cost would be very high in order to acquire the suitable data. Also the distribution system would be encounter the communication overload problem due to the huge data. Accordingly the utilities could not apply to PQM system in the distribution power system by the cost and communication problem. In this paper, the proposed economical PQMS has the voltage and current signal reiteration function and FFT operation function is transferred the server. Also the voltage and current measurement channels are minimized by a classified substation construction.
