This study examined the risk perception in internet shopping by Chinese and analyzed the effects of risk perception on internet word-of-mouth acceptance and transmission. This analysis was conducted with data collected from 373 Chinese individuals in their 20s. Data were analyzed with factorial analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA, multiple regression analysis, Chi-square test, and Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ using SPSS 18.0. The results were: 1) The factor analysis of risk perception extracted four factors: fashion/social psychological risk, product risk, transaction risk, and economic risk. The cluster analysis classified them into: Group with low-risk, Group with high-risk, Group with economic risk, and Group with medium-risk. 2) Group with high-risk and Group with economic risk had a higher word-of-mouth acceptance than other groups. The Group with a high-risk had more word-of-mouth transmission than other groups. 3) It was found that when word-of-mouth was accepted, the factual information about fashion products (size and material) was most referred to, and that the overall evaluation of satisfaction and dissatisfaction was most conveyed when word-of-mouth was conveyed. 4) Internet word-of-mouth acceptance was affected by product risk, economic risk, and transaction risk. Internet word-of-mouth transmission was affected by economic risk, and fashion/social psychological risk, product risk, and transaction risk.
This study analyzed risk perception and risk reduction behaviors of male and female college students in their twenties who purchased fashion products in internet shopping malls. It also investigated the relationship between risk perception and risk reduction behavior as well as the ways in which groups, categorized by risk perception, differed in their risk reduction behaviors. The results of this study were as follows: first, seven factors of risk perception were identified. These were product quality, shipping, product image, payment, economic feasibility, fear of other people's reactions, and size. Six types of risk reduction behavior were also identified. These were product comparison, word-of-mouth information search, price search, preference for name-brand, service comparison, and referring to experiences. Next, a correlational analysis of the factors of risk perception and those of risk reduction behavior showed several patterns. The highest positive correlation was between economic risk perception and product comparison behavior. In addition, shipping risk perception was positively correlated with service comparison behavior and product quality and product image had a positive correlation with word-of-mouth information search behavior. Third, customers of internet shopping malls could be categorized into three groups: shipping risk perception group, high risk perception group, and product quality risk perception group. The groups were shown by factor analysis to be significantly different to each other. Finally, risk reduction behavior was investigated according to the different groups of risk perception of the internet shopping malls and the results showed significant differences among groups.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of women 's perception of economic risk on the fertility gap. This study analyzed how the economic risks such as the risk of unemployment and poverty, the risk of housing insecurity, the risk of financial instability and the risk of economic downturn affects the gap between the actual number of children and the ideal number of children. For this purpose, exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were performed using the KGSS(Korean General Social Survey) 2014 dataset. The result of the analysis shows that women who perceived economic risk seriously had fewer children but had a higher fertility gap. This study suggested policy suggestions based on the above results.
The purposes of this study were to explore the perceived risk of smart clothing, to classify consumers by risk perception of smart clothing, and to investigate the differences among the segmented groups in regard to the evaluation of newness and innovativeness of smart clothing. In addition, the relationship among perceived risk, evaluation of newness and innovativeness of smart clothing were examined. A questionnaire was administered to 338 male and female subjects aged from 17 to 50. Analysis was performed by factor analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation analysis. The results showed that the perceived risk of smart clothing was composed of 4 factors: economic risk, social risk, functional risk and physical risk. Consumers were classified into four groups: high risk perception group, low economic risk perception group, low functional risk perception group, and low social risk perception group. ANOVA showed that there were significant differences among four groups regard to the evaluation of newness and innovativeness of smart clothing. High risk perception group most highly evaluated the newness and innovativeness of smart clothing. There were positive correlation among the perceived risks, the evaluation of the newness and innovativeness of smart clothing.
This study investigates risk reduction behavior with risk perception in outdoor wear purchase situations. Data were collected via a questionnaire from 400 consumers between the ages of 20 to 50 residing in Seoul and Kyonggi-do. Data analysis were conducted with SPSS 20 program on the reliability test, factor analysis, cluster analysis, t-test, ANOVA, and Duncan's multiple range test. Factor analyses were employed for the participation motivation of mountain climbing activities, risk reduction behavior and risk perception. Five factors were for the participation motivation of mountain climbing activities (health and fitness, external ostentation, achievement and excitement, improvement of climbing skills, and society). Five factors were for risk perception (fashionability loss and social risk, time and convenience loss, economic risk, performance risk, and psychological risk). Five factors were for the risk reduction behavior (interpersonal information sources use, marketer-dominated information sources use, professional information sources use, pre-purchase deliberation/observation/experience, and brand dependence). Three clusters were identified based on the motivation of outdoor activities (the affiliation/display, the health/internal informativeness and low motivation). The participation motivation for mountain climbing activities were varied. Manufacturers should increase efforts to develop products with good qualities at a reasonable cost as well as establish new marketing strategies since the risk of product performance and economic efficiency in the purchase of outdoor wear was a significant consumer perception.

This paper examined the risks perceived by consumers in apparel buying situation by 1) measuring the contents and perception level of risk, 2) categorizing each risk into meaningful factors (risk types), 3) analyzing the relationships between risk types and consumers' demo-graphic variables. 224 respondents deliberately selected to include each level of S demographic variables were contacted with 37-item question3.ire. Factor analysis showed that 32-item perceived risk could be categorized into 6 risk types: psychological. social, economic, time/convenience loss, fashionability loss, performance risk. Psychological risk were perceived highest in terms of perception level while social and performance risk showed relatively low perception level. 4 of 5 demographic variables including sex, education level, income, occupa-tion showed partial relationship with each risk type after ANOVA and Duncan test. Sex had the greatest influence on risk perception level and each age level (20's, 30's, 40's) showed different risk structure.
The purposes of this study were to define housewife's risk perception and risk reduction behavior when purchasing children's wear, and to identify the differences according to the clothing buying behavior and demographic characteristics. Data were gathered through survey with 429 housewives in Seoul and metropolitan area, and then statistically analyzed by descriptive statistics, factor analysis, Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), Duncan's test, and Pearson's correlation analysis. The results showed partially significant differences in risk perception, especially economic risk and social psychological risks, among housewife consumer groups according to the clothing buying behavior and the demographic characteristics. There were significant differences in risk reduction behaviors among the groups, especially brand preference/industry information, observation/experience, and media information. Also, correlations between risk perception and risk reduction behaviors were found. The social psychological risk perception was highly correlated to the risk reduction behaviors, while the time/convenience loss risk was not correlated to any risk reduction behavior. The results of this study provide insight into children's wear business through suggesting marketing implication.
There has been increased interest in researching risk perception of radiation to implement successful risk communication, particularly given the recent worldwide nuclear policy movement regarding nuclear energy. This study aimed to investigate characteristics of risk perception among residents living near normally operating nuclear power plants in South Korea by identifying factors associated with risk perception. A survey was conducted with face-to-face interviews for 1200 residents aged 20e84 years by gender- and age-stratified random sampling. Risk perception was associated with trust perception in nuclear safety, but was not highly correlated with benefit perception for utilizing nuclear power. Relatively high risk perception was observed in women, older age groups, and residents not having experience of nuclear-related education or work. This association remained after adjusting for other factors including benefit perception, trust perception, and psychological distress. In addition to these individual characteristics, risk perception was also associated with a residential district's own unique context, indicating that a strategy of risk communication should be developed differently for residents facing nuclear-related circumstances. Given that risk perception can be changed, depending on social values such as safety culture and economic setting, further studies are required to understand the changing characteristics of radiation risk perception.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between perceived risk and purchasing behavior of clothing gift among adult women. Data were collected from 258 adult women reside in Kwangiu who have ever been to purchase clothing gift during recent six months using a qusetionaire. Frequency Analysis, Factor Analysis, Correlation Analysis, T-test were carried out in the collected data. The findings were as follows; 1. The types of risks that respondents perceived when they purchased clothing gift were identified as practical-economic risk, the social-psychological risk, the fashionable risk and the time-refunding risk. 2. The higher the self-satisfaction motivation was, the higher the social-psychological risk and the higher the practical motivation was, the higher the practical-economic risk (P<.001). 3. The degree of the perceived risks of the Low Planning Group was higher than that of the High Planning Group (P<.001). 4. When the respondents perceived social-psychological risk high, they considered brand, fashionability, and store type as more important selective criteria and when the practical-economic risk perceived high, practicality, store service were conidered more important (P<.05). 5. When respondents perceived social-psychological and fashionable risk high, they used both personal information and non-personal information high (P<.01). (Korean J Human Ecology 1(1) : 126∼142, 1998)
The purpose of this study is to analyze consumers' perceived risk which is shown in the process of purchase phase and consumption phase for the counterfeits of fashion luxury brands and to analyze the interrelationship of each type of perceived risk. The research method of the study used a qualitative approach. 6 informants were selected and then an in-depth interview was held with them. Through this process the data on the perceived risk for counterfeits were collected and analyzed. The results of the study are as follows; The perceived level of psychological risk including counterfeits exposure was extremely high; besides, economic risk and performance risk were also perceived. On the contrary, the perceived level of social risk and fashionability loss were relatively low. The risk perception for counterfeits appeared not only on the purchase phase but also on the consumption phase, and when perceived risk existed on the consumption phase, it had an influence on the level of perceived risk on the next purchase phase. However the psychological risk was continuously perceived on both purchase and consumption phase, even if it did not exist on the consumption phase. Psychological risk, economic risk and performance risk were not independent but interdependent. Moreover, the entire level of perceived risk could be controlled by reducing the level of other perceived risks when a certain type of risk was highly perceived.
