  • This study is empirically intended to look into the effects of safety income system on recipient's economic independence and life satisfaction under the social security system. To achieve this, a survey was carried out to 650 adult householders benefiting from the social security system. The SPSS 23 statistical program was used to apply measurement variables related to the safety income system. The results of this study are summarized as follows. The social insurance and the social assistance of safety income system were adopted, having a significant effect on the economic independence. The effect of economic independence on life satisfaction was rejected, while the effect of social assistance on life satisfaction was adopted, showing a difference in the effect of each factor. The findings imply that social insurance and social assistance with support for safe income can be a positive help for economic independence, and unemployment benefit, national pension, long-term care subsidy and health insurance can help to achieve real economic independence, adopting only social assistance with limitation to life satisfaction. Consequently, the safety income system is very useful in helping recipients to achieve their economic independence through its introduction, but there is some distance to meet their life satisfaction.

  • Even though a lot of laboratory and field tests for asphalt pavements using geosynthetics have been conducted recently, any rational and systematic analysis for the economic efficiency of the asphalt pavement systems reinforced by using geosynthetics has not been proposed yet. In this study, the economic analysis considering the traffic characteristics for the glass fiber sheet reinforced asphalt pavement was performed using the Life Cycle Cost Analysis(LCCA) which is commonly used for the economic analysis technique. The economic efficiency for the glass fiber sheet reinforcement and the traffic characteristics was examined by applying the test results from the literature review to the economic analysis model.

Endogenous variables were social attitudes, family function, self-esteem, and health-related quality of life. Data were collected from 226 acquired people with physical disabilities residing in Seoul and Kyunggi-do from January to February, 2005. The collected data were analyzed using SAS 8.2 version and LISREL 8.32 version program. Results: The results of the fitness test of the modified model were follow as; ${\chi}^2=67.479$ (df=50, p=.05), GFI=.959, AGFI=.914, SRMR=.049, NFI=.961, NNFI=.979, CN=249.244. Health-related quality of life was influenced directly by physical status, economic level, and social attitudes and accounted for 88.8% of the variance by these factors. • The purpose of study is to examine the effects of family support on the life satisfaction of elderly with disabilities and provide a ground necessary to improve it. Research was conducted on 167 elderly with hearing, visual and physical disabilities aged over 60 who were living in Seoul and Pusan. Telephone survey, sign language and interview, in accordance with types of disability, were adopted to collect data effectively. That is telephone survey was used for elderly with visual impairment whereas face-to-face interview for physical impairment and sign language for hearing impairment by volunteers. Collected data were analyzed, using hierarchical regression analysis. This study utilized two different models, direct effect model and buffering effect of social support in order to examine the effects of familial support on the life satisfaction of elderly with disabilities. Research findings suggest that the level of life satisfaction appeared to be low in general among elderly with disabilities and emotional family support exerted a positive effect on life satisfaction. In addition, it is empirically supported that emotional family support buffered the negative effect of economic limitations on life satisfaction. In other words, the effects of economic limitations as stress factor decreased with the increase in the frequency of emotional support, however, the level of life satisfaction decreased at a mercy of the stress factor of economic limitations with the decrease in the frequency of emotional support. Finally, this paper attempted to provide some alternatives to effectively improve life satisfaction among elderly with disabilities based on empirical findings.
