The purpose of this study is to understand the appropriateness of land aptitude assessment system and to draw up the improvement of this method. The land aptitude assessment system is used to evaluate the effective demand of land development and land conservation. But, this assessment system has the technical problem of selection standards because the land development and the land conservation are against each other. In terms of the relation between development and conservation of land aptitude assessment system, development was increased rapidly as the economic pressure of local government. The application of the land aptitude assessment system using GIS methods was very useful for local plan. However, this system need to improve the selection standards of GIS parameters and statistical methods for the desirable land assessment system.

This paper is to describe the development of nesting software for the materials cutting plan of footwear manufacturing processes. In shoes cutting process, almost of the materials cutting plan is dependent upon worker's experience. Thus, thepattern nesting by worker's experience for materials cutting is different form the real cutting results and also different form the error size of yield in degree of worker's skill. Recently, a few of domestic shoes' makers make use of oversee's nesting software.But the nesting software unfits for the domestic actual circumstances , and is complex to use , and is expensive , and is not to be interfaced with the auto cutting machine. Therefore , we have developed the economic nesting systems that are easier for novice to use and fit for the domestic circumstances, which can synchronize with the development of the auto cutting machine. The system comprises interrelated modules for materials information, nesting simulation, utility. The architecture of system, the function of each module, and the information processing proceduresof each function are discussed.

This paper presents a mathematical model for optimizing earthwork allocation plan that minimizes earthwork cost. The model takes into account operational constraints in the real-world earthwork such as material-type (i.e., quality level of material) and quantities excavated from cut-sections, required quality of material and quantities for each embankment layer, top-down cutting and bottom-up filling constraints, and allocation orders. These constraints are successfully handled by assuming the rock-earth material as the three dimensional (3D) blocks. The study is of value to project scheduler because the model identifies the optimal earth allocation plan (i.e., haul direction (cut and fill pairs), quantities of soil, type of material, and order of allocations) expeditiously and is developed as an automated system for usability. It is also relevant to estimator in that it computes more realistic earthworks costs estimation. The economic impact and validity of the mathematical model was confirmed by performing test cases.

Electric business all over the world is dramatically changed from vertically integrated monopoly to competition systems. Also, independent power producers(IPPs) will start their commercial operation from the year 2001 in Korea. In this regard, determination of the transaction cost between IPPs and electric utilities will be a hot issue, and electric utilities requires a new framework to support their decision-making. This paper presents the concept of the avoided cost which can be used for economic studies. This paper also describes a novel algorithm to evaluate the avoided cost of a IPP. The case studies are performed on the basis of the official generation expansion plan of Korea by using the Wien Automatic System Planning Package(WASP).

Recently, there has been growing interest in Gyongin Line demand estimation, because SMRT(Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Transit Corporation) Line 7 will be extended west by 9.8km from Onsu to meet the Gyongin Line at Bupyeong-gu Office. This study was designed to estimate the change of traffic demand in Gyongin Line before and after the completion year 2011, also provide against the economic loss caused by the derived demand from Gyongin Line to SMRT Line 7. In this paper we give preliminary results for the strategic plans for traffic demand estimation and train operating plan in Gyongin Line by analyzing transport performance of Seoul metropolitan subway, and an additional study on the transportation market and the urban development plan is needed for more accurate results.

Nowadays, the consuming society, the quality of wideness is increasing as the economic life level increases. Modern's any of large department stores, playing a very important role in the middle of our consuming culture, is creating a new life culture and life patterns including producing a new consuming value, too. This is a plan for a renewal design of an inner shop at a department store for brand launching in Seoul, which was planed to escape from the brand's own cold color to show up the product's color using indirect illumination. It was also considered clients' path lines who may keep at a distance to come into an expensive brand's store by designing the whole area as a show room, so there a window display and a harmony with the products let the shop be well functionalized.

In the past few decades, the global population growth and rapid economic development have resulted in significant increases in building energy consumption. To reduce greenhouse-gas emissions and building energy consumption, building materials and energy technologies must be optimized. Building retrofitting is a more efficient method than reconstruction to improve the building energy performance. In order to improve the energy performance of existing buildings, this study proposed energy-efficiency retrofit plans and derived cost-effective retrofit plan. The energy efficient retrofit method is achieved through the packaging of energy technology and the energy and cost reduction effect of the energy efficiency retrofit package are analyzed. As a result of the study, the energy-efficiency retrofit package showed an energy reduction effect of up to 60% or more and a construction cost reduction of about 30%. This study argues that optimal energy and construction cost reduction of existing buildings are possible through the packaging of energy efficiency technology.

The monorail system as new transportation system mostly has being constructed as an elevated construction. In particular, in case of construction to elevated structure in the center of a city, it is important to decision for a monorail station to be considered the minimization. We must purchase the required lands prior to design the monorail stations because of separation of a platform and a waiting room. So We can exclude the problem that it have too close between a monorail station and the other building. Therefore the standard width and elevation of the monorail station shall be considered the efficient execution, economic and transportation. We have many thing to resolve as the plan of minimization to the station of monorail. But we know the ultimate in environmentally friendly transportation, of course, is our monorail system and we are positive as to a popular transportation craze.

This paper attempted to analyze impacts of transition in electricity generation system on a national economy and environmental level in Korea using a recursive computable general equilibrium(CGE) model. In particular, the paper presented a hybrid model combining the top-down CGE model with the bottom-up model which describes the structure of electricity production in detail. The impacts were analyzed by two policy scenarios base on the basic plan for electricity supply and demand proposed by the Korean government. As a result, the paper specifically showed that there exists a trade-off relationship in the policy-making between economic efficiency and environmental level. The paper also suggested that the transition in electricity generation system should be done more gradually and carefully.
