폴리염화비닐의 친환경 가소제로서 Poly(1,2-propylene glycol adipate) (Poly(1,2-propylene glycol adipate) as an Environmentally Friendly Plasticizer for Poly(vinyl chloride))

  • Poly(1,2-propylene glycol adipate) (PPA) was used as an environmentally friendly plasticizer in flexible poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC). Thermal, mechanical, and rheological properties of the PVC/PPA blends were characterized by differential scanning calorimetry, dynamic mechanical analysis, tensile test, scanning electron microscopy and small amplitude oscillatory shear rheometry. The results showed that PPA lowered the glass transition temperature of PVC. The introduction of PPA could decrease tensile strength and Young's modulus of the PVC/PPA blends; however, elongation-at-break was dramatically increased due to the plastic deformation. The plasticization effect of PPA was also manifested by the decrease of dynamic storage modulus and viscosity in the melt state of the blends. The results indicated that PPA had a good plasticizing effect on PVC.

Fabrication of Nano-laminar Glass Composite Using Thin Flake

  • Fabrication of a nano-laminar ceramic composite by sintering thin ceramic plates was examined. Silver-coated glass flakes with a thickness of less than $1{\mu}m$ were consolidated by pulsed current sintering or hotpressing to obtain model composites. The samples sintered at the optimum conditions were fairly dense, and the flakes were aligned by uniaxial press. The metal coating remained on the flakes through the sintering process, and became an interface layer between the flakes. No crack propagation through the transverse direction of the lamellar was observed in the indentation test. The possibilities of high resistance against crack propagation was suggested.

재료기술의 환경패러다임 모색 (A Study of R&D Paradigm For the Materials Technologies Involving Environmental Consciousness)

  • The R&D paradigm for the Materials Technologies involving Environmental Consciousness(MTEC) is sought in this paper with an emphasis on the background and importance of the METC. In this paper the MTEC is defined as "Green Materials Technology", and the Green Materials Technology is classified into four categories based on life cycle of the materials; \circled1Ecomaterials technology(materials design), \circled2Envimatec technology (manufacturing process), \circled3Materials life technology (use & maintenance) and \circled4Materials recycling technology (waste disposal). Each these four categories was introduced. In conclusion, the main R&D field and strategies for the four categories of the Green Materials Technology were suggested.

  • 현재 유리병의 대량생산을 목적으로 하는 자동 제병공장에서는 저렴하면서도 질 좋은 유리를 생산하고자 하는 것이 첫째 목적이다. 이 목적에 가장 경제적으로 접근하면서 수입 원료에 비하여 훨씬 저렴한 국내산 원료의 효율적인 활용방안의 연구와 에너지절감 및 환경 친화적인 자원재활용 등을 목적으로 파유리를 사용하고 그 양을 늘리기를 원하고 있다. 그러나 소다석회유리에서 $Al_2 O_3$의 함량이 2%미만일 때는 물리화학적인 장점이 실현될 수 있으나, 국내에서는 이러한 좋은 규사를 채광 할 수 없고, 채광 가능한 제품은 $Al_2 O_3$의 함량이 4%이상이므로 국내산 규사만으로 유리조성의 $Al_2 O_3$의 함량을 2%미만으로 조절하기는 불가능한 실정이다. 따라서 낮은 품질의 유리물로서 생산이 가능한 200ml 이하의 소형 유리병(특히 갈색약품 병) 생산 공장에서는 국내산 규사만을 사용하여 유리물을 만들고 있으나, $Al_2 O_3$함량증가에 따라 발생되는 결점(Cord, Knot, 실투, 기포 등)의 증가로 생산효율이 크게 떨어지고 있다. 또한 파유리 투입 시 병유리와는 조성상의 이질성에서 오는 결점의 발생과 파유리 사용량의 증가에 따른 유리물점도 상승으로 용해로 바닥의 온도가 낮은 유리물 정체부위의 실투발생 등 생산 공정에 나쁜 영향을 미치는 여러 가지 문제점들이 발생하게 되었다. 실험을 통해 얻은 결과를 여러 가지 분석 방법을 통해 관찰, 분석하여 이러한 문제점을 해결하였다.

광량 및 TiO2 나노튜브 길이별 광활성 연구: Cr(VI)환원 및 수소제조 (Effect of TiO2 Nanotube Length on Photocatalytic Activity with Different Light Intensities: Cr(VI) Reduction and Hydrogen Production)

  • Anodized tubular $TiO_2$ electrodes (ATTEs) with three noticeably different lengths are prepared to determine their optimum length for the photo-driven activity in the reaction of Cr(VI) reduction and hydrogen evolution. The ATTEs with ethylene glycol have longer $TiO_2$ tubes (7-15.6 ${\mu}m$) than those with hydrfluoric acid (0.6-0.8 ${\mu}m$). These samples, which differ only in the length of the tubes, with a wall thickness of ca. 20 nm, consist mainly of an anatase crystalline phase after heat treatment at $650^{\circ}C$, since the anatase crystallites at the tube walls do not undergo transformation into rutile phase, due to the constraints imposed by the wall thickness. Among them, the medium size (ca. 8 ${\mu}m$) tubes provide the optimum conditions, irrespective of the light intensity, which is explained in terms of the correlation between the amount of photons and the adsorbed electron acceptors and their location. Photocatalytic Cr(VI) reduction leads to ca. 60% reduction of Cr(VI) even under 1 sun irradiation with the medium-sized anodized $TiO_2$ tubes, but only ca. 20% with the short- and long-sized tubes. For hydrogen evolution, tubes longer than 8 ${\mu}m$ do not exhibit better performance with any light intensity.

체적비가 $SiC_{p}$/AL 복합재료의 기계적 및 피로균열진전 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Volume Fraction on Mechanical and Fatigue Crack Growth Properties of SiC Particle Reinforced AL Alloy Composites)

  • In order to save the energy and protect the environment, it were studied about ecomaterials with the developed countries as central figure. In the Metal Matrix Composites(MMCs), this trends appeared the development of the MMCs which had excellent mechanical properties in spite of the low volume fraction of reinforcement. Therefore, in this study, fatigue crack growth test, tensile and hardness test were conducted in order to investigate the mechanical and fatigue properties of 5 %, and 10 % $SiC_{p}$/Al composites. As the results, in the tensile and hardness test, tensile strength and hardness increased but fatigue crack growth rate decreased with $SiC_{p}$/Al volume fraction. And in the view of fatigue failured surface through the SEM, fatigue crack initiated around the SiC particle and in low $\Delta{K}$ regions, fatigue creck detoured the SiC particle but crack propagated through the SiC particle in the high $\DeltaK$ regions.
