  • The purpose of this paper is to assess conservation value of forests and cultivated areas from the landscape ecological point of view. The main focus of landscape ecology estimates the reciprocal relationships between spatial patterns and ecological processes. This paper sets the criteria for conservation value and classify the conservation value based on the criteria. Forests and cultivated areas in Seo-Gu, Incheon Metropolitan City was selected as the case study area. In this research, factors such as patch size and connectivity have been selected in order to consider the landscape ecological aspect, gradient for the environmental physics aspect and to consider the environment-ecological aspect, grade of environmental-oriented land suitability analysis Map developed by the ROK Ministry of Environment has been utilized. GIS methodologies have been adopted to calculate the relationships among the above variables. Through literature review, the following evaluation criteria have been adopted: (1) based on island biogeography and metapopulation dynamics theory, patch size criteria are set 2ha and 10ha; (2) connectivity was set the degree of connection with surrounding grids; and (3) gradient of 20 degrees. Conclusively, this paper suggests that local conditions, landscape ecology and physical environment aspects should be considered to develop an estimation framework of the conservation value.

  • Under the inhumane oppression of imperialism, the Third World's political violence has been often represented as an immediate and explosive one with an instant, concentrated visibility. Yet the ecological and psychological exploitation of the Third-World countries by empires, as Rob Nixon insists, shows the relative invisibility of slow violence. This paper is to reveal this slow violence of the marginalized areas symbolized as the lowland. Although Arne Naess' deep ecology promotes the inherent worth of living beings regardless of their instrumental utility to human needs. this paper deals with three postcolonial ecological textbooks which criticize the white-centered deep ecology: Amitav Ghosh's The Glass Palace, Jhumpa Lahiri's The Lowland, and Barbara Kingsolver's The Poisonwood Bible. Through postcolonial critical study, this paper finds out that all these three works have some themes in common. First, these postcolonial works assume a shape of family saga which is parallel to the slow violence of ecological and psychological plundering of empires in the postcolonial countries. Second, like the mangroves which have a tenacious hold on life, these postcolonial people rather overcome the heterogenic challenge with the sturdy and tough mind than defeated. Third, the native people's ethics of earth functions as the stronghold for their respectable lifestyle in their indigenous historicity. Finally, as a big fat brother, the Americanized globalization or neoliberalism is warned as the neocolonialism which is often shown as the disguised pattern of greenwashing. Namely, the people's self-enhancement is always prior to the imperialistic development or neoliberalism in the postcolonial ecological texts which sharply contrast the native's life consciousness and the empire's development theory.

  • This study is the result of analyzing the distribution of 129 Saemies discovered based on field research conducted from September 2021 to June 2023 in the Sacheon alluvial fan area through ethnoscience and niche theory. The researcher viewed the Sacheon alluvial fan area as a suitable location for irrigation where both traditional and modern hydraulic facilities are used, and the cultural and ecological study of 'Saemi', a traditional irrigation facility that attracts attention for its public value for the ecological environment according to the sustainable paradigm. By revealing its competitiveness, we aimed to contribute to finding ways to sustainably conserve and utilize Saemi. As a result of the study, Saemi is confirmed to be a competitive water facility in terms of cultural and ecological quality, considering the direction of the times and the sustainable development. If environment-friendly agricultural technology is applied to traditional water treatment facilities in the context of sustainable agriculture, it is expected that synergy will be created in productivity, public interest, and sustainability.

  • The theory of m-th root metric has been developed by H. Shimada [8], and applied to the biology [1] as an ecological metric. The purpose of this paper is to introduce the m-th root Finsler metrics which admit ($\alpha,\;\beta$)-types. Especially in cases of m = 3, 4, we give the condition for Finsler spaces with such metrics to be locally Minkowski spaces.

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the educational program model for adolescent substance abusers in relation to preventive and rehabilitative aspects. This educational program model was developed based not only on the social support theory ecological-developmental approach and cognitive-behavioral approach but also on previous studies. This model can be used both for adolescent substance abusers in early stage and in recovery stage. The main contribution of this study is that adolescent abusers will recover effectively through practicing this educational program model.

  • The salt accumulation on the soil surface can be mathematically described. Although the movement of salts in soil solution is expressed in terms of mathematical model, which has certain limitations in practical application, except the exchangeable and absorbable state salts in soil solution. This model is illustrated by analyticl experiments in which evaporation from the bare soils, transpiration of plants and rainfall are required. Agreement between the model and the measured data was satisfactory, which validating the salt accumulation theory on the soil surface.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the positive effect of family leisure in human life. We adopted ecological-system approach, theory of structure to family life and analyzed meaning of leisure through the interdisplinary approaches. Family leisure has not only positive effect on home but also it’s subsystem. Consequently, family leisure as vital power of living contributes to the advancement of life quality.

  • This paper gropes how to connect philosophy of household management(PHM) to real life. PHM is to think and to act for better quality of life, so PHM should contain not only theory but also practice in itself. In that sense, PHM is consist of two parts: one is viewpoints how to deal with home management and the other is practice. This paper presents 5 main viewpoints of PHM. Then, it explains PHM can connect with education of human nature, and ecological value in PHM can connect with practice of life. Also, it proposes a guide for practice.

  • The Affordance, discussed in the theory of ecological perception of environmental psychology, is the concept of perception that deals with inter-relationship between environment and human. It is a theory seeking for gradual evolution, with the change of user experience behavior and the space, by getting feed-backs from the analysis of perception of characteristics of 3-dimensional space and the user as moving entity. Although there has been many attempts to define the Affordance and apply its concept to the architecture, now there's a need to identify the Affordance in the real architectural space, represent Affordance of space and the user inter-relationship in the architecture and apply its design specifically, Thus, the purpose of this study is to present the methodology of applying Affordance in architectural space design by identifying the Affordance of space concept of human experience behavior in the architectural space and analyze its recognition process.

  • From the past to the future, the great nature has been long standing good text and has never been behind the fashion. All problems of human being had been occured and been solved by 'Lives' and the biological chemistry ststem which are inside the nature. They say that "Ecology is the applications of biological shape in man made system design." We should find out the basic principles of nature and apply to the necessity of study. Biology, Ecology, and the other relational theory of design have abundant sources of idea in which designers can take new policy and creativities. When designers design new products they should consider socialogy and psychological circumstances that are related to them, and should find out various possibilities trying to contact biological systems and ecological systems which are chosen in the nature. The seed of ash samara can be applied to firehydrant for mountain on fire and application of the spider's web can lead to the device for road work. As soon as possible, we should find out the methods introducing the nautre which supplies infinite sources of idea to the basic theory of design.of design.
