To decrease Europe's harmful emissions, the European Union aims to substantially increase its offshore wind energy capacity. To further develop offshore wind energy, investment in ever-larger construction vessels is necessary. However, this market is characterised by seemingly unpredictable growth of market demand, turbine capacity and distance from shore. Currently it is difficult to deal with such market uncertainty within the ship design process. This research aims to develop a method that is able to deal with market uncertainty in early ship design by increasing knowledge when design freedom is still high. The method uses uncertainty modelling prior to the requirement definition stage by performing global research into the market, and during the concept design stage by iteratively co-evolving the vessel design and business case in parallel. The method consists of three parts; simulating an expected market from data, modelling multiple vessel designs, and an uncertainty model that evaluates the performance of the vessels in the market. The case study into offshore wind foundation installation vessels showed that the method can provide valuable insight into the effect of ship parameters like main dimensions, crane size and ship speed on the performance in an uncertain market. These results were used to create a value robust design, which is capable of handling uncertainty without changes to the vessel. The developed method thus provides a way to deal with market uncertainty in the early ship design process.
Functional metal prototypes are often required in numerous industrial applications. These components are typically needed in the early stage of a project to determine form, fit and function. Recent R/P(Rapid Prototyping) part are made of soft materials such as plastics, wax, paper, these master models cannot be employed durable test in real harsh working environment. Parts by direct metal rapid tooling method, such as laser sintering, by now are hard to get net shape, pores of the green parts of powder casting method must be infiltrated to get proper strength as tool, and new type of 3D direct tooling system combining fabrication welding arc and cutting process is reported. But a system which can build directly 3D parts of high performance functional material as metal park would get long period of system development, massive investment and other serious obstacles, such as patent. In this paper, through the rapid tooling process as silicon rubber molding using R/P master model, and fabricate wax pattern in that silicon rubber mold using vacuum casting method, then we translated the wax patterns to numerous metal tool prototypes by new investment casting process combined conventional investment casting with rapid prototyping & rapid tooling process. With this wax-injection-mold-free investment casting, we developed new investment casting process of fabricating numerous functional metal prototypes from one master model, combined 3-D CAD, R/P and conventional investment casting and tried to expect net shape measuring total dimension shrinkage from R/P pare to metal part.
Real options valuation models are now proved as a effective valuation method both in Theoretically and empirically. However, to use real options model for early stage start-ups, additional non-financial information is crucial in the valuation process. Previous studies theoretically suggested the modified real options valuation model and process to use non-financial information in the valuation of early stage startups, but there is no empirical evidence on the suggested model. Therefore, this study investigated the effectiveness of the modified real options valuation model using a case study. The case study result showed that the modified real options valuation effectively reflect the non-financial information in early stage startups, and decrease the forecasting error in the valuation process.
Compared to men, women experience difficulties in fund-raising, which can be a fundamental impediment to the success of women entrepreneurs. In this study, we examine whether is a difference between genders in the initial funding performance of start-up companies and confirm whether there are differences in organizational factors and entrepreneur factors that affect the initial funding performance. Data were collected through a survey of technology-based start-up companies located in the metropolitan area, and 287 companies were used for hypothesis analysis. The results reveal that there was a significant difference between genders in the investment attraction performance of early-stage entrepreneurs. In addition, as a result of the split-group regression analysis, it was found that in the case of men, firm age, early firm size, starting capital, engineering major had a significant effect on men. However, in the case of the women's group, it was confirmed that all the variables related to the organizational factors and entrepreneur factors were not significant. This study indirectly suggests that prejudices such as gender role stereotypes actually affect economic activities related to investment attraction activities.
This paper suggests several strategies for promoting Trade and Foreign Direct Investment cooperation to the Korean government and companies as follows ; For Korean government, its trade policy would be given much weight on the import from the Vietnam in the early developing stage. This import could be compensated and increased with the counter export of Korean products like the industrial goods. For Korean companies, they would make haste to invest and develop the abundant energy and natural resources in Vietnam. Their desirable strategies would be moving small scale projects into large ones, production partnerships with the foreign developed and experienced companies, and international joint ventures for using inward FDI incentives. The long range vision and perseverance are indispensable for promoting trade and foreign direct investments between and Korea and Vietnam and both parties' win-win results and development in the end.

Accelerators that invest in early startups, as well as nursery and overall management, have recently emerged as "key players" in the startup ecosystem. This can be proved by the case where the number of domestic accelerators registered in the Korean Ministry of SMEs and Startups has recently reached 208. Accelerators provide the necessary education for early-stage companies, including guidance for a certain period of time, and support startups in ways such as demo days to attract subsequent investment after the seed investment. There is not much research in academia about what factors impact on these accelerators when making investment decisions at the time of seed investment. In this study, we checked the meaning and function of the accelerator and tried to analyze what factors affect on accelerators when making a decision to invest in startups. The research method is based on a literature survey of previous studies on investment decision-making factors of venture capital and angel investors, and a lens model and judgment analysis method through empirical research targeting 43 accelerator investment decision-makers. Empirical analysis shows that accelerators have three of the key factors to consider when choosing the first startup to invest and educate; entrepreneurs' entrepreneurial traits, their product and service expertise and a potential return on success. This will provide an opportunity for early startups to gain strategic access to accelerators when they need money or need a structured educational program. Also, the results obtained through this research will be a kind of guideline for startups to attract accelerators' investment. The significance of this study is that discriminatory evidence was presented on the accelerator determinants of investment, and it would be highly suggestive to startups and related public institutions.

This paper is focused on the economical efficiency of the geothermal heat pump system in school. As the importance of problems of environment and energy becomes larger, the development and distribution of energy-saving technology in the whole nation has become influential. This paper is intended, targeting on school buildings scattered all over the country, to evaluate the introduction and possibility of a terrestrial heat system which is in the first stage of introduction in the country, through energy consumption and efficiency in case where a terrestrial heat system is introduced. To do that, the author performed a qualitative analysis of the heat pump system using various terrestrial heat energy and the system introduced to existing school buildings and, through the analysis, made tentative evaluation on the most environment-friendly and energy saving type system. Also, the author performed simulation analysis using a currently typical school building standard and, on the basis of this result, conducted efficiency analysis of various heat pump systems. The conclusion according to synthetical analysis & evaluation can be summarized as follows. In case a heat pump system is introduced to a school building, it was deemed the investment in the early stage would increase, but the investment could be collected within 5~6 years through reduction of large operation expenses. Also, it was analyzed in case of terrestrial heat contracted heat mode using midnight electric power among heat pump systems, not only early investment but also operation expenses could be reduced to a great extent. Accordingly in case the system using terrestrial heat energy is applied to the school buildings that are to be newly built or repaired in the future, it will provide an object-lesson to students as well as contributing to energy saving.
Purpose - This study analyzed the correlation between economic liberalization and foreign direct investment. The purpose of this study is to seek ways to attract foreign direct investment from developing countries. Design/methodology/approach - This study analysed with observations of 19 from 2000 to 2018 using a fixed effect model, a random effect model, and a two-way fixed effect model. Findings - First, it was found that economic liberalization had a positive effect on attracting foreign direct investment in the early stages of economic liberalization. Second, it was found that economic liberalization in the deepening stage of economic liberalization had a negative effect on attracting foreign direct investment. In general, it was found that the higher the level of economic liberalization in developing countries is not accompanied by innovative changes in the industrial structure, the higher the level of economic liberalization is likely to decrease the inducement of foreign direct investment due to negative factors such as an increase in labor costs. Overall, this study approved that Economic liberalization have a non-linear (inverted U-shape) relationship with the inflow of foreign direct investment. Research implications or Originality - First, this study attempted to expand the variables for the determinants of FDI by analyzing economic factors which is a determinent of FDI. Second, economic liberalization generally has a positive effect on foreign direct investment, but it proved that it does not have only positive effects as a factor of attracting foreign direct investment in developing countries. The advantage of low wages in ASEAN countries acts as a factor for foreign direct investment, but as the degree of economic liberalization increases, the environment such as government size, guarantee of property rights, international trade freedom, fiscal soundness, and regulations change positively. On the other hand, it can be suggested that if the industrial level is less, it may lead to a loss of comparative advantage and a decrease in investment.
There often is information asymmetry between start-ups and the investors, which is because start-up companies in the early stages do not have track records. Meanwhile, since the government grants programs go through a fair and the intense competition process, the government grants can provide a more objective information for start-ups in the early stages and perform a signal function that guarantees a company's capabilities and potential. This study confirms the quantitative relationship between government grants and investment attraction by using the hurdler model. We found that, although there is the proportionate relationship between the scale of government grants and that of external funds, more than a certain amount of government grants is required for technology-based start-ups to exceed the stage of attracting their first external funds. Our findings suggest that it is necessary to consider the hurdles structure in the study of signaling theory perspective, as the mechanisms for determining whether or not to attract external funds are different from determining the level of external funds. In addition, differentiated policy support is needed to help early-stage technology start-ups go beyond the threshold of investment attraction-the creation of a 'threshold effect'.
