  • $Ti(i-OC_3H_7)_4$알콕사이드를 출발원료로 사용한 sol-gel법을 이용하여 Rutle, Anatase 결정상의 $TiO_2$박막을 제조하였다. 결정화 정도란 관점에서 $TiO_2$ 박막의 결정상에 미치는 첨가물의 영향을 조사하였다. 3차 비선형 광학 감수율을 THG법을 이용하여 측정하였으며, Rutle 과 Anatase 결정상의 $TiO_2$ 박막의 3차 비선형 광학 감수율은 각각 $1.4{\times}10^{-12}$$9.7{\times}10^{-13}$ esu의 값을 얻었다.

Linear and Nonlinear Optical Properties of Vanadium Pentoxide Films Prepared by Pulsed-Laser Deposition

  • Well-crystallized vanadium pentoxide V2O5 thin films are fabricated on MgO single crystal substrates by using pulsed-laser deposition technique. The linear optical transmission spectra are measured and found to be in a wavelength range from 300 to 800 nm; the data are used to determine the linear refractive index of the V2O5 films. The value of linear refractive index decreases with increasing wavelength, and the relationship can be well explained by Wemple's theory. The third-order nonlinear optical properties of the films are determined by a single beam z-scan method at a wavelength of 532 nm. The results show that the prepared V2O5 films exhibit a fast third-order nonlinear optical response with nonlinear absorption coefficient and nonlinear refractive index of 2.13 × 10-10 m/W and 2.07 × 10-15 cm2/kW, respectively. The real and imaginary parts of the nonlinear susceptibility are determined to be 3.03 × 10-11 esu and 1.12 × 10-11 esu, respectively. The enhancement of the nonlinear optical properties is discussed.

  • The crystal structure and optical properties of copper nanoparticles, prepared in fused silica by ion-implantation and subsequent heat-treatment, were characterized by X-ray, TEM, linear absorption, and degenerate four-wave mixing (DFWM) technique. The X-ray data show fcc lattice structure of the nanocrystals and their size was measured as 8-20 nanometer by high resolution TEM. Using DFWM, the third-order nonlinear optical coefficient of the Cu-SiO2 thin films was measured as 0.4-1.1×10-8 esu in the surface plasmon resonance absorption region (540-570 nm).

2009 개정 과학과 교육과정의 효과적인 실행을 위한 중학생들의 지구계에 대한 이해 (Middle School Students' Understanding about Earth Systems to Implement the 2009 Revised National Science Curriculum Effectively)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 2009 개정 과학과 중학교 교육과정을 효과적으로 실행하기 위해 중학생들의 지구계에 대한 기초적인 인식을 조사하였다. 1219명의 학생들이 설문조사에 참여했으며 학생들의 지구계에 대한 기초적인 이해, 지구계와 관련된 23개의 개념(내용)에 대한 이해 수준과 중요성을 조사하였다. 지구계에 대한 기초적인 이해 결과를 살펴보면 약 67%의 학생들이 지구계에 대한 용어에 대해 잘 모른다고 응답하였다. 지구계의 구성요소 중에서는 대기권과 수권을 가장 잘 인식하고 있었으며, 빙권에 대해서는 지구계의 구성요소로서 낮은 이해 수준을 보였다. 23개 지구계 관련개념(내용)에서는 성별에 따라 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 나타났으며, ESU#4, 5, 6에 관련된 주요 개념에서 남학생들이 이해 수준과 중요성에 대한 인식 수준이 더 높게 나타났다. 아울러, 학년별로는 23개 중에 10개의 개념에 대한 중요성의 인식 차이를 나타냈다. 교육과정의 실행과 학교 현장을 위한 제언이 논의되었다.

$TeO_2-PbO-GeO_2$계 유리 내 비선셩 광학 특성의 구조 의존성 (Structural Dependence of Nonlinear Optical Properties in $TeO_2-PbO-GeO_2$)

  • Nonlinear optical properties of TeO2-PbO-GeO2 glasses were investigated and their correlation with struc-tural modification was investigated. Third-order nonlinear susceptibility $\chi$, ranged between 5.0$\times$10-13 esu and 10.7$\times$10-13 esu which are approximately 20-40 times larger than that of silica glass. The glass with a composition of 85(80TeO2-20PbO)-15GeO2(mol%) seemed to provide an optimum compromise between $\chi$and the stability against crystallization. Analyses of the Raman spectra suggested that these glasses are mainly composed of [TeO4] tbp, [TeO3]tp and [GeO4] tetrahedral structural units. It was concluded that the positive contribution of Pb2+ with high polarizability to $\chi$ in TeO2-PbO glasses overwhelmed the negative influence due to the structural modification of [TeO4]tbplongrightarrow[TeO3]tp. On the other hand addition of GeO2 in TeO2-PbO-GeO2 glasses resulted in the decrease of $\chi$ values. This behavior was attributed to the formation of [GeO4] polyhedra at the expense of [TeOn] polyhedra and Pb2+ ions which normally sowed a higher contribu-tion to $\chi$ than [GeO4] polyhedra.

Maker fringe 방법에 의한 전도성 박막의 3차 비선형 광학 감수율의 측정 (Measurement of the Third Order Nonlinear Optical Susceptibility of the Conducting Polymer Film by Maker Fringe Method)

  • 전도성 고분자 박막의 스펙트럼, 가간섭 길이 및 3차 비선형 광학 감수율의 측정방법을 연구했다. 시료박막의 대한 Maker fringe를 용융석영에 대한 것과 비교하고 선형 굴절률에 의한 효과를 보정하여 3차 비선형 광학 감수율값을 계산했다. 선형 굴절률값의 계산을 위하여는 투과율 스펙트럼에서 투과율의 극대(극소) 값의 포락선이 사용되었다. Spin coating 방법을 사용하여 제작된Poly((1,4-phenylenevinylene$)_{0.34}$-co-(2-methoxy-1,4-phen ylene vinylene$)_{0.66}$) [PP$V_{0.34}$-PMP$V_{0.66}$] 박막에 대해서 투과율 스텍트럼과 Maker fringe를 측정한 후, 이들 data로부터 구한 1907 nm 펌프 파장에 대한 굴절률, 가간섭길이 및 3차 비선형 광학 감수율 값은 각각 1.786, 17.86 ${\mu}m$ 및 5.8${\times}10^{12}$esu였다.

Preparation and Nonlinear Optical Properties of Novel Polyesters with Enhanced Thermal Stability of Second Harmonic Generation

  • 2,5-Di-(2'-hydroxyethoxy)-4'-nitrostilbene (3) was prepared and polycondensed with terephthaloyl chloride, adipoyl chloride, and sebacoyl chloride to yield novel T-type polyesters (4-6) containing the NLO-chromophores dioxynitrostilbenyl groups, which constituted parts of the polymer backbones. Polymers 4-6 are soluble in common organic solvents such as acetone and N,N-dimethylformamide. They showed thermal stability up to 260 oC in thermogravimetric analysis with glass-transition temperatures obtained from differential scanning calorimetry in the range 90-95 oC. The second harmonic generation (SHG) coefficients (d33) of poled polymer films at the 1064 nm fundamental wavelength were around 1.42 ´ 10-9 esu. The dipole alignment exhibited high thermal stability up to 5 oC higher than glass-transition temperature (Tg), and there was no SHG decay below 100 oC due to the partial main-chain character of polymer structure, which is acceptable for NLO device applications.

  • The third order nonlinear optical susceptibilities, {{{{ chi }}(3), of the CuCl doped alumino-borosilicate glasses were measured by the two beam configuration DFWM method and the absorption saturation method, and the measured {{{{ chi }}(3) values were about 10-8 esu in both methods. The response time was estimated to be about 105ps from the time decay curve of the luminescence spectra obtained by time-correlated single-photon counting (TCSPC) method.

Synthesis and Properties of Novel T-type Nonlinear Optical Polyurethane Containing Tricyanovinylthienyl Group with Enhanced Thermal Stability of Dipole Alignment

  • A novel T-type polyurethane 7 containing 1-(2,5-dioxyphenyl)-2-(5-(1,2,2-tricyanovinyl)-2-thienyl)ethenes as NLO chromophores, which constitute part of the polymer backbone, was prepared. Polyurethane 7 is soluble in common organic solvents such as DMF and DMSO. It shows a thermal stability up to $270^{\circ}C$ from TGA thermogram with $T_g$ value obtained from DSC thermogram near $155^{\circ}C$. The second harmonic generation (SHG) coefficient ($d_{33}$) of poled polymer film at 1560 nm fundamental wavelength is $3.56{\times}10^{-9}$ esu. Polymer 7 exhibits a thermal stability even at $5^{\circ}C$ higher than $T_g$, and no significant SHG decay is observed below $160^{\circ}C$, which is acceptable for nonlinear optical device applications.
