  • Recently a static var compensator(SVC) is installed at Seo-deagu Substation. It is a power system controller using power electronics commonly called Flexible AC Transmission Systems(FACTS). This paper presents the characteristics and configuration of the Seo-deagu SVC. This paper discusses the modeling aspect of the Seo-deagu SVC systems. EMTDC simulation model of the Seo-deagu SVC is developed and verified.

  • The paper presents a simulation model and analysis of a grid-connected variable speed wind energy conversion scheme (VSWECS) using the PSCAD/EMTDC software. The modeled system uses a variable speed drive, a fixed pitch angle, a synchronous generator as a wind generator and an AC-DC-AC conversion scheme, which facilitates the wind generation to efficiently operate under varying wind speed while connected to the distribution network. The power output of the WECS is controlled by the AC-DC-AC conversion scheme, the objective of which is to capture the maximum active power under varying wind conditions and to keep the voltage magnitude of the terminal bus at a specific level. Aerodynamic models are applied for a wind turbine model. An simulation analysis of the scheme in terms of its responding to wind variations is also presented.

  • This paper presents the AC electric railway system modeling using PSCAD/EMTDC program. This system model is composed of the scott-transformer the auto-transformer. the running rails. the protection wires, the feeders. the catenary and contact wires, etc. After obtaining the models of the fundamental elements describing the AC electric railway system and its behavior, we have analyzed and tested real traction power feeding system focused on the amplification of harmonic current to verify the proposed model. The simulation results from the proposed approach and the measurement data from the test are described in the paper.

  • Nowadays, one of the serious problems in KEPCO system is the larger fault current than the SCC(Short Circuit Capacity) of circuit breaker. There are many alternatives to reduce the increased fault current such as isolations of bus ties, enhancement of SCC of circuit breaker, applications of HVDC-BTB(Back to Back) and FCL(fault current limiter). However, these alternatives have some drawbacks in viewpoints of system stability and cost. As the superconductivity technology has been developed, the HTS-FCL(High Temperature Superconductor-Fault Current Limiter) can be one of the attractive alternatives to solve the fault current problem. Under this background, this paper presents the EMTDC model for resistive type HTS-FCL considering the nonlinear characteristic of final resistance value when quenching Phenomena occur.

  • This paper presents an effective modeling scheme of SPE cell system for hydrogen production. PSCAD/EMTDC model of SPE cell system for hydrogen production to efficiently utilize Solar cell energy which produces effectively hydrogen energy is showed in this paper. The simulated results are then verified by comparing them with the actual values obtained from the data acquisition system. Authors are sure that it is a useful method to the researchers who study SPE cell system for hydrogen production.

  • This paper deals with dynamic performance of the Cheju - Haenam HVDC system. The purpose of the study is to verify the control characteristics of the HVDC system and to analyze the dynamic performances by simulation study. Because the HVDC system consists of analogue and digital controller, the simulation is achieved with specification model incorporating nonlinear function.   • 본 논문은 EMTDC/PSCAD 프로그램을 이용한 80MVA UPFC(Unified Power Flow Controller)해석모델 개발과 2003년 실계통 적용시 적용효과에 대하여 기술하였다. UPFC는 90년대 이후 개발되고 있는 유연송전 시스템(FACTS : Flexible AC Transmission System)기기중 전압. 임피던스, 위상각등 송전선로에서의 전력조류제어를 위한 모든 파라미터를 동시에 고속으로 제어 할 수 있는 대표적인 FACTS 기기이며, 국내에도 2003년 강진 S/S에 80MVA 용량의 UPFC가 적용될 예정이다. 그러나 실 계통에서의 FACTS기기 적용을 위해서는 다양한 적용 효과분석 및 충분한 신뢰도 테스트가 선행되어야 한다. 따라서 이를 위한 기기 해석모델 개발은 매우 중요하다고 할 수 있다. 본 논문은 국내 전력 계통에 최초 적용되는 80MVA UPFC Pilot Plant에 대한 EMTDC/PSCAD 해석모델 개발결과에 대하여 기술하였다. EMTDC/PSCAD는 EMTP와 더불어 전력시스템의 과도현상 해석을 위한 신뢰성있는 프로그램이다.

  • 본 논문은 PSCAD/EMTDC프로그램을 이용한 제주-해남 HVDC시스템의 해석모델 개발과 해석모델을 이용한 제주-해남 HVDC시스템의 운전특성에 대한 분석 내용을 기술하였다. 제주-해남 HVDC의 안정적인 운용을 위해서는 HVDC시스템의 이해와 함께 제주교류계통의 계통특성도 같이 고려되어야 한다. 이를 위해서는 제주-해남 HVDC와 제주교류계통을 포함하는 시뮬레이션 모델을 개발하여 다양한 상황에서의 시뮬레이션을 수행하여야 한다. 본 논문에서는 AC계통과 DC 계통의 상호작용에 의한 영향 분석과 교직연계계통의 계통운용 특성에 대해서 EMTDC 제주-해남 HVDC모델과 제주 AC계통 등가축약 모델을 이용하여 분석한 결과를 설명하였다. PSCAD/EMTDC는 EMTP와 더불어 전력시스템의 과도현상 해석을 위한 신뢰성 있는 프로그램이다.

  • For real power system application of SFCL, it is necessary to develop an analysis model of the SFCL. In Korea, hybrid SFCL of the first half cycle non-limiting type have been jointly developed by KEPRI and LS Industrial Systems through DAPAS program. In this study, we developed a PSCAD/EMTDC analysis model of the hybrid SFCL of the first half cycle non-limiting type. The simulation results of the developed model are in agreement with the test results of the real SFCL. The developed SFCL model is tested in real power system model.

  • This paper describes operational analysis results of the DC micro-grid using detailed model of distributed generation. Detailed model of wind power generation, photo-voltaic generation, fuel-cell generation was implemented with the user-defined model of PSCAD/EMTDC software that is coded with C-language. The operation analysis was carried out using PSCAD/EMTDC software, in which the power circuit is implemented by built-in model and the controller is modelled by user-defined model that is also coded with C-language. Various simulation results confirm that the DC micro-grid can operate without any problem in both the interconnected mode and the islanded mode. The operation analysis result confirms that the DC micro-grid make it feasible to provide power to the load stably. And it can be utilize to develop the actual system design and building.
