Carbon nanotubes(CNTs), since their first discovery, have been considered as new promising materials in various fields of applications including field emission displays, memory devices, electrodes, NEMS constituents, hydrogen storages and reinforcements in composites due to their extra-ordinary properties. The carbon nanotube reinforced nanocomposites have attracted attention owing to their outstanding mechanical and electrical properties and are expected to overcome the limit of conventional materials. Various application areas are possible for carbon nanotube reinforced nanocomposites through the functionalization of carbon nanotubes. Carbon nanotube reinforced polymer matrix nanocomposites have been fabricated by liquid phase process including surface functionalization and dispersion of CNTs within organic solvent. In case of carbon nanotube reinforced polymer matrix nanocomposites, the mechanical strength and electrical conducting can be improved by more than an order of magnitude. The carbon nanotube reinforced polymer matrix nanocomposites can be applied to high strength polymers, conductive polymers, optical limiters and EMI materials. In spite of successful development of carbon nanotube reinforced polymer matrix nanocomposites, the researches on carbon nanotube reinforced inorganic matrix nanocomposites show limitations due to a difficulty in homogeneous distribution of carbon nanotubes within inorganic matrix. Therefore, the enhancement of carbon nanotube reinforced inorganic nanocomposites is under investigation to maximize the excellent properties of carbon nanotubes. To overcome the current limitations, novel processes, including intensive milling process, sol-gel process, in-situ process and spark plasma sintering of nanocomposite powders are being investigated. In this presentation, current research status on carbon nanotube reinforced nanocomposites with various matrices are reviewed.

This paper proposes an analysis method of performance degradation of antenna due to radio frequency interference between an antenna and adjacent noise sources using active scattering parameters. The radio frequency interference can be analyzed by the measured or simulated scattering parameters and by excited noise sources in the circuit as well. In this paper, a planar inverted-F antenna and a noise source are designed and fabricated to analyze radio frequency interference between the planar inverted-F antenna and noise source. The proposed analysis method uses active scattering parameters, of which verification is experimentally verified, and in simulation as well.

Recently, fuel cell generation system with high energy efficiency and low CO2 emission is energetically interconnected with distribution power system. Especially, MCFC(molten carbonate fuel cell) operating at high temperature conditions is commercialized and installed as a form of large scale power generation system. However, it is reported that power system disturbances such as harmonic distortion, surge phenomenon, unbalance current, EMI(Electromagnetic Interference), EMC (Electromagnetic Compatibility) and so on, have caused several problems including malfunction of protection device and damage of control devices in the large scale FCGS(Fuel Cell Generation System). Under these circumstances, this paper proposes countermeasure algorithms to prevent power system disturbances based on the modelling of PSCAD/EMTDC and P-SIM software. From the simulation results, it is confirmed that proposed algorithms are useful method for the stable operation of a large scale FCGS.

Electromagnetic compatibility(EMC) performance of the first Korea space launch vehicle(KSLV-I) should be ensured and verified in order to guarantee the normal operation among the spacecraft, ground facilities which are installed in the space center, and other wireless communication networks. For the purpose of the EMC performance verification, pertinent EMC test specifications, methods, and procedures for both the subsystems and the system should be established in consideration of operational properties and electromagnetic environmental effects. And it is required to maintain and control the EMC properties consistently in accordance with the determined specifications up to the program closing phase. In this paper, sequential management work conducted during the overall development process of the KSLV-I is explained, and not only the phased EMC test plan for each model of the KSLV-I and its subsystem but also test method, specification, and results of the verification tests are presented. And also, multipaction analysis results are presented.

In this study, we propose a method of suppressing the leakage noise signal of motor assembly through the test. The motor assembly is mounted on outside of the aircraft to rotate an antenna and must satisfy RE102 requirement on MIL-STD-461F in terms of electromagnetic interference. It is confirmed by RE102 test result hat the leakage noise signal of the equipment occurs due to external influx through the power and control cable and rotation of the motor. And it is ascertained that the part where internal/external physical shielding is difficult to rotate is the leakage path. To reduce the leakage noise signal, the electrical ground reinforcement and the electric shielding structure considering the operation of the equipment is applied and it is verified that the requirement is satisfied. Finally, we verified that required specification are met by applying circular corrugated choke with interlocking shapes and conductive grease to the noise leakage path.

This paper addresses EMC test results for the EQM Communications & Broadcasting Satellite(CBS) Ka-band Payload System. The aim of the EMC test is to verify that the payload system has no effect on the other system and is not affected by the external field. The compliance of EMC system requirements was verified by the analysis and measurement of the emission level from the payload system. The variation of performance by noise injection was measured to inspect the susceptibility of the payload system. The analysis and test results also showed that the electromagnetic interference has no serious effect on the overall payload system performance. It is confirmed that the EQM CBS Ka-band payload system can be operable in the space environment from the EMC performance's viewpoint. It is also obtained that better performance can be acquired by improving waveguide design and integration method.

This paper is conducted a research of the cable and filter design considering the deep sea floor environment. The electric architecture which is being used in the subsea plant is comprised of the power supply unit of the high voltage, high-capacity drive system, long cable, and electric motor in the sea area. Conducted emission is occurred by the rapid voltage change at the moment of switching at high speed of inverter for driving motors. The more the length of the cable is lengthened, the worse the motor is influenced by transient voltage. Thus, the over voltage occurred in the drive motor was confirmed by designed wire which is considered R, L, line-to-line C, line-to-gnd C of long cable used in the subsea plant. A guide line of the subsea plant model is also suggested by using a filter to reduce conducted noise of PWM inverter drive-system.

The infrared camera is difficult to satisfy the RE-102 specification of Mil-Std-461. Especially, in the case of UAV electronics, shielded cable is not used, so it is difficult to meet the electromagnetic compatibility standard. In the RE-102 test of the IR camera for UAV, radiated noise exceeding 30 dBuV/m was observed in the range of 50 MHz to 200 MHz. As a result of pcb em scan, peak noise which caused by the harmonic frequency of the digital control signal clock was observed. Radiated noise was reduced by up to 22.9 dBuV/m by applying the spread spectrum clock generator(SSCG) with 3 % down spreading method to the camera control clock.

This paper is the second part of the study on the development of a smart active layer (SAL) sensor, which consists of two parts. As mentioned in the first paper, structural health monitoring (SHM) is a new technology that is being increasingly applied at the industrial field as a potential approach to improve cost and convenience of structural inspection. Recently, the development of smart sensor is very active for real application. This study has focused on preparation and application study of SAL sensor which is described with regard to the theory and concept of the SAL sensor in the first paper. In order to detect elastic wave, smart piezoelectric sensor, SAL, is fabricated by using a piezoelectric element, shielding layer and protection layer. This protection layer plays an important role in a patched network of distributed piezoelectric sensor and shielding treatment. Four types of SAL sensor are designed/prepared/tested, and these details will be discussed in the paper In this study, SAL sensor ran be feasibly applied to perform structural health monitoring and to detect damage sources which result in elastic waves.
The abatement of methane emission from ruminants is an important global issue due to its contribution to greenhouse gas with carbon dioxide. Methane is generated in the rumen by methanogens (archaea) that utilize metabolic hydrogen ($H_2$) to reduce carbon dioxide, and is a significant electron sink in the rumen ecosystem. Therefore, the competition for hydrogen used for methanogenesis with alternative reductions of rumen microbes should be an effective option to reduce rumen methanogenesis. Some methanogens parasitically survive on the surface of ciliate protozoa, so that defaunation or decrease in protozoa number might contribute to abate methanogenesis. The most important issue for mitigation of rumen methanogenesis with manipulators is to secure safety for animals and their products and the environment. In this respect, prophylactic effects of probiotics, prebiotics and miscellaneous compounds to mitigate rumen methanogenesis have been developed instead of antibiotics, ionophores such as monensin, and lasalocid in Japan. Nitrate suppresses rumen methanogenesis by its reducing reaction in the rumen. However, excess intake of nitrate causes intoxication due to nitrite accumulation, which induces methemoglobinemia. The nitrite accumulation is attributed to a relatively higher rate of nitrate reduction to nitrite than nitrite to ammonia via nitroxyl and hydroxylamine. The in vitro and in vivo trials have been conducted to clarify the prophylactic effects of L-cysteine, some strains of lactic acid bacteria and yeast and/or ${\beta}$1-4 galactooligosaccharide on nitrate-nitrite intoxication and methanogenesis. The administration of nitrate with ${\beta}$1-4 galacto-oligosaccharide, Candida kefyr, and Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis were suggested to possibly control rumen methanogenesis and prevent nitrite formation in the rumen. For prebiotics, nisin which is a bacteriocin produced by Lactococcus lactis subsp. lactis has been demonstrated to abate rumen methanogenesis in the same manner as monensin. A protein resistant anti-microbe (PRA) has been isolated from Lactobacillus plantarum as a manipulator to mitigate rumen methanogenesis. Recently, hydrogen peroxide was identified as a part of the manipulating effect of PRA on rumen methanogenesis. The suppressing effects of secondary metabolites from plants such as saponin and tannin on rumen methanogenesis have been examined. Especially, yucca schidigera extract, sarsaponin (steroidal glycosides), can suppress rumen methanogenesis thereby improving protein utilization efficiency. The cashew nutshell liquid (CNSL), or cashew shell oil, which is a natural resin found in the honeycomb structure of the cashew nutshell has been found to mitigate rumen methanogenesis. In an attempt to seek manipulators in the section on methane belching from ruminants, the arrangement of an inventory of mitigation technologies available for the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Joint Implementation (JI) in the Kyoto mechanism has been advancing to target ruminant livestock in Asian and Pacific regions.
