  • In this paper, a simple design method of stepped septum polarizer suitable for X-band satellite communication is proposed. This method is compared to two other conventional design methods in terms of time consumption and complexity of design procedure. In addition, an equivalent circuit modeling is used to analyze and design for the polarizer based on waveguide. For the validity of satisfying the satellite communication, electrical performances have been verified through the simulation and measurement results.

  • Autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) are unmanned, underwater vessels that are used to investigate sea environments in the study of oceanography. Docking systems are required to increase the capability of the AUVs, to recharge the batteries, and to transmit data in real time for specific underwater works, such as repented jobs at sea bed. This paper presents a visual :em control system used to dock an AUV into an underwater station. A camera mounted at the now center of the AUV is used to guide the AUV into dock. To create the visual servo control system, this paper derives an optical flow model of a camera, where the projected motions of the image plane are described with the rotational and translational velocities of the AUV. This paper combines the optical flow equation of the camera with the AUVs equation of motion, and deriver a state equation for the visual servo AUV. Further, this paper proposes a discrete-time MIMO controller, minimizing a cost function. The control inputs of the AUV are automatically generated with the projected target position on the CCD plane of the camera and with the AUVs motion. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the modeling and the control law of the visual servo AUV simulations on docking the AUV to a target station are performed with the 6-dof nonlinear equations of REMUS AUV and a CCD camera.

  • Inverse problem is very interest in the sciences and engineering, in particular for modeling and monitoring applications. By applying inverse problem, it can be widely used to exploration of mineral resources, identification of underground cables and buried pipelines, and diagnostic imaging in medical area. In this paper, we firstly consider 2-dimensional EM scattering problem and present the FDTD method to estimate unknown source. In this case, non-linear CGM technique is used to investigate unknown sources corresponding to measured data obtained from forward problem in near field. The proposed technique for solving the inverse source problem presents a reasonable agreement and can be applied to investigate an internal source signal of embedded security module.

  • This paper presents a reliability model and a data-analytic procedure for a repairable unit subject to failures due to multiple non-identifiable causes. We regard a failure cause as a state and assume the life distribution for each cause to be exponential. Then we represent the dependency among the causes by a Markov switching model(MSM) and estimate the transition probabilities and failure rates by maximum likelihood(ML) method. The failure data are incomplete due to masked causes of failures. We propose a specific version of EM(expectation and maximization) algorithm for finding maximum likelihood estimator(MLE) under this situation. We also develop statistical procedures for determining the number of significant states and for testing independency between state transitions. Our model requires only the successive failure times of a unit to perform the statistical analysis. It works well even when the causes of failures are fully masked, which overcomes the major deficiency of competing risk models. It does not require the assumption of stationarity or independency which is essential in mixture models. The stationary probabilities of states can be easily calculated from the transition probabilities estimated in our model, so it covers mixture models in general. The results of simulations show the consistency of estimation and accuracy gradually increasing according to the difference of failure rates and the frequency of transitions among the states.

  • In this paper, reinforced concrete structures are modeled and analyzed. Reinforced concrete has been an essential element in the construction and one that is provided for shielding effectiveness at particular frequencies by rebar placed as a set up in the form of a grid. Using commercial 3-dimensional electromagnetic(3D EM) tool to analyze the reinforced concrete structure, the procedure of analysis for reinforced concrete is computed by dividing concrete, rebar and entire reinforced concrete. The spacing of rebar is bigger, transmission coefficient is higher and the diameter of rebar is bigger, transmission coefficient is lower. Also, in case of two layers is analyzed by gap of layers. Using single layer rebar that thickness of rebar given by 10, 20 and 30 mm have transmission coefficient of -1.89, -2.73 and -4.76 dB/10 cm at 500 MHz. Also, two layers rebar obtain -1.89, -2.73 and -4.76 dB/10 cm for same conditions.

  • Both longitudinal data and survival data are collected simultaneously in longitudinal data which are observed throughout the passage of time. In this case, the effect of the independent variable becomes biased (provided that sole use of longitudinal data analysis does not consider the relation between both data used) if the missing that occurred in the longitudinal data is non-ignorable because it is caused by a correlation with the survival data. A joint model of longitudinal data and survival data was studied as a solution for such problem in order to obtain an unbiased result by considering the survival model for the cause of missing. In this paper, a joint model of the longitudinal zero-inflated count data and survival data is studied by replacing the longitudinal part with zero-inflated count data. A hurdle model and proportional hazards model were used for each longitudinal zero inflated count data and survival data; in addition, both sub-models were linked based on the assumption that the random effect of sub-models follow the multivariate normal distribution. We used the EM algorithm for the maximum likelihood estimator of parameters and estimated standard errors of parameters were calculated using the profile likelihood method. In simulation, we observed a better performance of the joint model in bias and coverage probability compared to the separate model.

  • In this paper, we study a model parameter compensation method for noise-robust speech recognition. We study model parameter compensation on a sentence by sentence and no other informations are used. Parallel model combination(PMC), well known as a model parameter compensation algorithm, is implemented and used for a reference of performance comparision. We also propose a modified PMC method which tunes model parameter with an association factor that controls average variability of gaussian mixtures and variability of single gaussian mixture per state for more robust modeling. We obtain a re-estimation solution of environmental variables based on the expectation-maximization(EM) algorithm in the cepstral domain. To evaluate the performance of the model compensation methods, we perform experiments on speaker-independent isolated word recognition. Noise sources used are white gaussian and driving car noise. To get corrupted speech we added noise to clean speech at various signal-to-noise ratio(SNR). We use noise mean and variance modeled by 3 frame noise data. Experimental result of the VTS approach is superior to other methods. The scheme of the zero order VTS approach is similar to the modified PMC method in adapting mean vector only. But, the recognition rate of the Zero order VTS approach is higher than PMC and modified PMC method based on log-normal approximation.

  • There have been a lot of considerations dealing with improving the performance of neuro-fuzzy system. The studies on the neuro-fuzzy modeling have largely been devoted to two approaches. First is to improve performance index of system. The other is to reduce the structure size. In spite of its satisfactory result, it should be noted that these are difficult to extend to high dimensional input or to increase the membership functions. We propose a novel neuro-fuzzy system based on the efficient clustering method for initializing the parameters of the premise part. It is a very useful method that maintains a few number of rules and improves the performance. It combine the various algorithms to improve the performance. The Expectation-Maximization algorithm of Gaussian mixture model is an efficient estimation method for unknown parameter estimation of mirture model. The obtained parameters are used for fuzzy clustering method. The proposed method satisfies these two requirements using the Gaussian mixture model and neuro-fuzzy modeling. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method is capable of giving reliable performance.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to review the previous studies on the characteristics of the image search service provided by using artificial intelligence, the social impact characteristics, and the moderating effect of perceived anthropomorphism, and conduct empirical analysis to identify the constituent factors affecting purchase intention. To clarify. Through this, I tried to present theoretical and practical implications. Research design, data, and methodology: Research design was that characteristics of image search service (ubiquity and information quality) and social impact characteristics (subjective norms, electronic word of mouth marketing) are affected by mediation of satisfaction and flow, therefore, control of perceived anthropomorphism have an effect on purchase intention to increase. For analysis, research conducted literature review, and developed questionnaires, so that EM firm which is a specialized research institute has collected data. This was conducted on 410 people between the 20s and 50s who have mobile shopping experiences. SPSS Statistics 23 and AMOS 23 had been used to perform necessary analysis such as exploratory factor analysis, reliability analysis, feasibility analysis, and structural equation modeling based on this data. Results: first, ubiquity, information quality and subjective norms were found to have a positive effect on purchase intention through satisfaction and flow parameters. Second, satisfaction and flow were found to have a mediating effect between ubiquity, information quality, and subjective norms and purchase intentions. However, there was no mediating effect between eWOM information and purchase intention. Third, perceived anthropomorphism was found to have a moderating effect between information quality and satisfaction, and it was found that there was no moderating effect on the relationship between information quality and flow. Conclusions: The information quality of image search services using artificial intelligence has a positive effect on satisfaction, and it has been found that there is a positive moderate effect of perceived anthropomorphism in this relationship, which may be an academic contribution to the distribution science utilizing artificial intelligence. Therefore, it is possible to propose a distribution strategy that improves purchase intention by utilizing image search service and anthropomorphism in practical business and providing a more enjoyable immersive experience to customers.

  • This paper presents a stiffness analysis method for a low-DOF parallel manipulator, which takes into account of elastic deformations of joints and links. A low-DOF parallel manipulator is defined as a spatial parallel manipulator which has less than six degrees of freedom. Differently from the case of a 6-DOF parallel manipulator, the serial chains in a low-DOF parallel manipulator are subject to constraint forces as well as actuation forces. The reaction forces due to actuations and constraints in each limb can be determined by making use of the theory of reciprocal screws. It is shown that the stiffness model of an F-DOF parallel manipulator consists of F springs related to the reciprocal screws of actuations and 6-F springs related to the reciprocal screws of constraints, which connect the moving platform to the fixed base in parallel. The $6{times}6$ stiffness matrix is derived, which is the sum of the stiffness matrices of actuations and constraints. The six spring constants can be precisely determined by modeling the compliance of joints and links in a serial chain as follows; the link can be considered as an Euler beam and the stiffness matrix of rotational or prismatic joint can be modeled as a $6{times}6$ diagonal matrix, where one diagonal element about the rotation axis or along the sliding direction is zero. By summing the elastic deformations in joints and links, the compliance matrix of a serial chain is obtained. Finally, applying the reciprocal screws to the compliance matrix of a serial chain, the compliance values of springs can be determined. As an example of explaining the procedure, the stiffness of the Tricept parallel manipulator has been analyzed.
