The Study on the design of PWM IC with Power Device for SMPS application (SMPS용 전력소자가 내장된 PWM IC 설계에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we design the one-chip PWM IC with high voltage power switch (300V class LDMOSFET) for SMPS (Switching Mode Power Supply) application. Reference circuits generate constant voltage(5V) in the various of power supply and temperature condition. Error amp. is designed with large DC gain $({\simeq}65dB)$, unity frequency $({\simeq}190kHz)$ and large $PM(75^{\circ})$. comparator is designed with 2 stage. Saw tooth generators operate with 20kHz oscillation frequency. Also, we optimize drift concentration & drift length of n-LDMOSFET for design of high voltage switching device. It is shown that simulation results have the breakdown voltage of 350V. (using ISE-TCAD Simulation tool). PWM IC with power switching device is designed with 2um design rule and Bi-DMOS technology.

Comparison of association between physical activity and resting metabolic rate in young and middle-aged Korean adults

  • [Purpose] The purpose of this study was to comparatively investigate the correlation among body composition, resting metabolic rate (RMR), and physical activity (PA) between young and middle-aged Korean adults. [Methods] A total of 53 [male n=23, female n=30] subjects were included in this study, among whom 34 subjects were healthy young adults [male n=18, female n=16] and 19 were middle-aged adults [male n=5, female n=14]. The body composition and RMR of all the participants were measured after overnight fasting (≥8 h). The Korean version of the WHO Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ) was used to assess physical activity. [Results] Body composition was not significantly different between young adults and middle-aged adults. Whole-body bone mineral density and bone mineral contents (BMC) were significantly lower in middle-aged adults than in young adults. Total blood cholesterol (TC) and blood glucose levels were significantly higher in middle-aged adults (TC; 195.21 ± 43.34, glucose; 103.57 ± 12.61 mg/dL) than in young adults. RMR was significantly lower in middle-aged adults (1619.57 ± 290.28 kcal/day) than in young adults (1894.37 ± 405.00 kcal/day). In middle-aged adults physical activity (PA). PA (METs, min, EE) was inversely correlated with fat mass (FM, kg, and %) and blood triglyceride (TG) level in young adults. In middle-aged adults, PA showed a significant positive correlation with lean body mass (LBM), FM (%), and RMR. Furthermore, PA EE showed significant interrelatedness with BMC among middle-aged adults. [Conclusion] These results demonstrated that high PA levels enable LBM and RMR maintenance in middle-aged adults. Furthermore, in young adults, more PA is required to induce change in body composition.

  • The aim of this report is showing the case that we could give exact navigation of perigastric vessels for gastrectomy with 3D CTA. A 74-year-old male patient visited hospital with gastric cancer. Early gastric cancer, type IIb was found at stomach antrum great curvature side. Before surgery, he underwent 3D CT angiography. 3D volume rendering images and MIP images were made by post processing. He had replaced Lt. hepatic artery arising from Lt. gastric artery. Surgeon could get patient's specific vascular anatomy before surgery including surgically relevant anatomical distance and direction and could finish gastrectomy within 4 hours and just 53ml blood loss.

  • Extensive chemical studies on the stem bark extracts of two Guttifereous plants namely Mesua daphnifolia and Garcinia nitida have led to the isolation of eight xanthones. Mesua daphnifolia gave cudraxanthone G (1), ananixanthone (2), 1,3,5-trihydroxy-4-methoxyxanthone (3) and euxanthone (4) while Garcinia nitida gave inophyllin B (5), 1,3,7-trihydroxy-2,4-bis (3-methylbut-2-enyl)xanthone (6), 3-isomangostin (7) and rubraxanthone (8). All these compounds were assayed against the MDA-MB-231 (human estrogen receptor negative breast cancer) cells. A structure-activity relationship study showed that structurally, all the 1, 3-oxygenated xanthones which carried unsaturated prenyl side chains (either 3-methylbut-2-enyl or 1,1-dimethyl-2-propenyl) at carbones C-2 and C-4 in the xanthone ring A are essential for the outstanding activities in the assay.

  • A new prenylated pyranoxanthone, inophyllin B (1), was isolated from the roots of Calophyllum inophyllum (Guttiferae). Together with this compound was also isolated the known pyranoxanthone brasilixanthone B (2) and two common triterpenes friedelin (3) and sitosterol (4). Structural elucidations of these compounds were achieved through $^1H,\;^{13}C$, DEPT, COSY, HSQC and HMBC experiments. The molecular mass was determined using MS techniques. The crude extract indicated weak toxicity to the larvae of Aedes aegypti. We report here the isolation, structural elucidation and bioassay data for Inophyllin B and brasilixanthone B.

  • In this paper, design and development experiences of a vision based robotic assembly system for electronic components are described. Specifically, the overall system consists of the following three subsystems each of which employs a 16 bit Preprocessor MC 68000 : supervisory controller, real-time vision system, and servo system. The three microprocessors are interconnected using the time shared common memory bus structure with hardwired bus arbitration scheme and operated as a master-slave type in which each slave is functionally fixed in view of software. With this system architecture, the followings are developed and implemented in this research; (i) the system programming language, called 'CLRC', for man-machine interface including the robot motion and vision primitives, (ii) real-time vision system using hardwired chain coder, (iii) the high-precision servo techniques for high speed de motors and high speed stepping motors. The proposed control system were implemented and tested in real-time successfully.

  • The strain producing bioemulsifier was isolated from soil samples. The isolated strain was identified as the genus Acinetobacter through its morphological, cultural and physiological characteristics. The highest emulsification activity and stability by Acinetobacter sp. BE-254 was observed after 5 days of cultivation in the culture medium containing n-hexadecane 4%, NaNO$_{3}$ 0.2%, KH$_{2}$PO$_{4}$ 0.01%, MgSO$_{4}$-7H$_{2}$O 0.01%, CaCl$_{2}$ 0.01%, and yeast extract 0.01%. The optimum pH and temperature for bioemulsifier production were pH 7.0 and 30$\circ$C, respectively. Furthermore the most of bioemulsifier was produced during the exponential growth phase, and this suggested that the bioemulsifier production was growth-associated. The bioemulsifier showed good emulsification activity on various emulsifying substrates such as hydrocarbons, edible oils, and petroleum fractions.

  • In this article, a planar geodesic (2-dimensional minimum length curve between two points) on which the maximum curvature is constrained and with prescribed initial and terminal directions is studied. A generic problem is formulated by the minimum-time optimal control problem in free terminal time. It is shown that the optimal path ($G^2$) may contain a singular arc or not and that the general types of $G^2$ can he classified into the 3 classes of control sequences. Finally, the explicit form of $G^2$ is derived geometrically as well as algebraically form the main theorem of this article.

  • 본 논문에서는 400kHz 10kW RF Source와 최대전력전달을 하기 위해 가변임피던스 정합기를 이용하여 파워 소스를 준비하였고, 송수신코일은 EE71형태의 페라이트코어에 테프론 와이어를 결선하여 구성하였다. 본 연구에서는 MF대역의 주파수를 이용하므로 자기유도방식을 채택하였다. 무선전력전송에서는 최대로 전력이 전달하기 위하여 송수신 코일과 부하간에 임피던스 매칭이 필수적으로 필요하다. 매칭이 원할하지 않을 경우 RF Source에 반사전력이 반사되어 심각한 손상을 발생할 수 있으며, 수신부 코일의 부하단에 최대로 전력이 전달되지 않을 뿐만 아니라 전체 시스템 효율이 나빠지게 된다 본 연구에서는 임피던스 정합기를 이용하여 자기유도방식에서 최적의 송수신 전송 조건을 도출하였다.

Management of severe hidradenitis suppurativa with biologic therapy and wide excision

  • Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory follicular occlusive disease that involves the intertriginous areas. Treatment methods include conventional topical and systemic medication, radiotherapy, biologic agents, and surgical excision. Of late, there has been an increased focus on the use of biologic agents in patients with moderate to severe HS. Here, we present the case of a 46-year-old man with Hurley stage III HS for whom wide excision was ultimately curative, after aggressive medical therapy with the use of infliximab and adalimumab had succeeded in limiting the body surface area affected by the disease. This case demonstrates the effective treatment of severe HS with a combination of biologic therapy and surgery.
