To assess the ability of an extravasation detection accessory (EDA) system to detect clinically important extravascular injection of iodinated contrast material delivered with an automated power injector. Fifty patients referred for contrast material enhanced body computed tomography studied in a prospective, observation study in which the EDA system was used to identify and interrupt any injection associated with clinically Important extravasation. The presence or absence of extravasation was definitively established with multi-detector CT at the injection site (injection rate, $2.0{\sim}2.5$ mL/sec). There were two true positive, extravasation volumes $22{\sim}25$ mL. The EDA system had sensitivity in the detection of clinically important extravasation. The EDA system is easy to use, safe, and accurate In the monitoring of intravenous injections for extravasation, which may prove especially useful in CT applications.
The purpose of this study was to assess the ability of this device during clinically important episodes of extravasation. The extravasation detection accessory (EDA) system was based of infrared ray with detection sensor, an amplifier, alarm device, receiver, cable and a computer based system. This study was a prospective, observational study in which the EDA system was used to monitor the automated mechanical injection of contrast media. Three hundred patients referred for contrast media enhanced body computed tomography studied in a prospective, observation study in which the EDA system was used to identify and interrupt any injection associated with clinically important extravasation. There were 8 true-positive cases, 276 true-negative cases, 15 false-positive cases and 1 false-negative cases. The EDA system had a sensitivity of 88.8% and a specificity of 94.8% for the detection of clinically important extravasation. The EDA system had good sensitivity for the detection of clinically important extravasation and the EDA system has the clinical potential for the early detection of extravasation of the contrast medium that is administered with power injectors.
Adsorption experiment of carbon dioxide was performed on MCM41 silica with a 30 wt.% EDA(ethylenediamine) loading at different $CO_2$ inlet concentration and various adsorption temperature. The surface characteristics of $CO_2$ capturing agent were carried out using BET analysis, X-ray diffraction and FT-IR. The results of BET showed 781 $m^2/g$ for MCM41 and 464 $m^2/g$ for EDA/MCM41. X-ray diffraction results reveled typical hexagonal pore system. The higher sorption capacity of EDA/MCM41 was about 80 $mg_{CO2}/g_{sorbent}$ with 50% $CO_2$ inlet concentration and 303 K adsorption temperature. The isosteric heat of adsorption in 303-353 K ranged from -25.47 to -28.24 KJ/mole for EDA/MCM41, which indicates $CO_2$-EDA/MCM41 interaction with exothermic adsorption process. Finally, the performance of EDA/MCM41 in 10 consecutive sorption-desorption runs was a stable with only a minor drop in its sorption capacity.

The paper reviews the methodologies of confirmatory data analysis(CDA) and exploratory data analysis(EDA) in statistical quality control(SQC), design of experiment(DOE) and reliability engineering(RE). The study discusses the properties of flexibility, openness, resistance and reexpression for EDA.
We will compare several statistical package programs on aspects of exploratory data analysis(EDA). Specifically, PC versions of Minitab, NCSS, SAS, SPSS/PC+, Statgraphics, and SYSTAT are reviewed.

To assess the ability of an extravasation defection accessory (EDA) to detect the clinically important extravascular Injection of iodinated contrast material that was delivered with an automated mechanical power injector. The purpose of this study was to assess the ability of this device during clinically important episodes of extravasation. The EDA system was composed of a strain gage, an amplifier and a computer-based system. In the rabbit experimental cases, there were seven true-positive cases (range of the extravasation volumes: $14{\sim}23 ml$). The algorithm results showed seven true-positive cases (range of the extravasation volumes: $7{\sim}16ml$), nineteen true-negative cases, two false-positive cases and no false-negative cases. The EDA system had a sensitivity of 100% and a specificity of 90% for the detection of clinically important extravasation. The EDA system had good sensitivity for the detection of clinically important extravasation and the EDA system has the clinical potential for the early detection of extravasation of the contrast medium that is administered with power injectors.
The in vitro anti-fungal activity of hydroxylated fatty acids obtained from microbial conversion by Psuedomonas aeruginosa PR3 using ricinoleic acid(RA), eicosadienoic acid(EDA) and conjugated linoleic acid(CLA) as substrates, was investigated. Bioconverted hydroxylated fatty acids showed different anti-fungal activities potentials against the range of phytopathogenic fungi such as Botrytis cinerea, Rhizoctonia solani, Fusarium oxysporum, Sclerotonia sclerotiorum, Colletotricum capsici, Fusarium solani and Phytophthora capsici. RA and EDA showed up to 50% fungal mycelial inhibition at the concentration of $5{\mu}l\;ml^{-1}$. RA, EDA and CLA also exhibited anti-fungal activities with minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC), ranging from 500 to $1000{\mu}g\;ml^{-1}$. Screening was also carried out using varied concentrations of bioconverted RA and EDA for determining the anti-fungal effect on the spore germination of different fungi. Bioconverted RA and EDA showed a considerable degree of spore germination inhibition.
Phytoextraction is a technique which uses plants to clean up metal-contaminated soils. Recently, various chelating agents were introduced into this technique to increase the bioavailability of metals in soils. Even though the technique is an economic and environment-friendly method, this cannot be applied in highly metal-contaminated areas because plants will not normally grow in such conditions. Therefore, this research focuses on identifying chelating agents which are biodegradable and applicable to highly metal-contaminated areas. Alunimum (Al) as a target metal and cysteine (Cys), histidine (His), citrate, malate, oxalate, succinate, and ethylenediamine (EDA) as biodegradable chelating agents were selected. Ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) was used as a comparative standard. Plants were grown on agar media containing various chelating agents with Al to analyze the effect on plant growth. His slightly diminished the inhibitory effect of Al on root growth of plants, whereas, Cys, citrate, malate, oxalate, and succinate did not show significant effects. Both EDTA and EDA strongly diminished the inhibitory effect of Al on root growth. The effect of EDA is correlated with decreased Al uptake into the plants. In conclusion, as a biodegradable chelating agent, EDA is a good candidate for highly Al-contaminated areas.
