Antimicrobial Effects of EcoCal® and GF Bactostop® Formulated in Emulsified Sausages against Lactic Acid Bacteria

  • In this study we evaluated the antimicrobial effects of EcoCal® (calcium oxide) and GF Bactostop® (organic acids mix) in sausages during storage at 10℃. The sausages were formulated with 0.1% EcoCal® (0.1ECO), 0.1% EcoCal®+0.5% GF Bactostop® (0.1ECO+0.5GF), 0.2% EcoCal® (0.2ECO), and 0.2% EcoCal®+0.5% GF Bactostop® (0.2ECO+0.5GF). Total aerobic and lactic acid bacteria in the sausages were enumerated on tryptic soy agar and Lactobacilli MRS agar, respectively, during storage at 10℃ for 10 weeks. The 0.1ECO+0.5GF showed the most effective antimicrobial effects on the sausages, and 0.1ECO showed the second most effective antimicrobial effect. Total aerobic bacterial cell counts gradually increased in the control, 0.2ECO, and 0.2ECO+0.5GF groups, but cell growth was generally inhibited in 0.1ECO by approximately day 42 (P<0.05) and 0.1ECO+0.5GF by approximately day 49 (P<0.05). Lactic acid bacterial cell counts gradually increased in the control, 0.2ECO, and 0.2ECO+0.5GF groups, but the lactic acid bacteria growth was inhibited in 0.1ECO by approximately day 49 (P<0.05) and in 0.1ECO+0.5GF by approximately day 64. These results suggest that using 0.1% EcoCal®+0.5% GF Bactostop® in sausage formulation is useful for inhibiting lactic acid bacteria growth, thereby extending the shelf-life of the sausage product.

Female Clustering & Characteristics according to Environmental Attitude and Eco-clothing Purchase (친환경 태도와 친환경의류제품 구매에 따른 여성 소비자의 유형화 및 특성)

  • This study divides female consumers according to eco-friendly attitudes and the purchase frequency of eco-clothing products; in addition, it analyzes the characteristics of each group in terms of LOHAS lifestyles, the attitudes for eco-clothing products, and satisfaction. Eco-clothing attitudes of female consumers were lower than eco-friendly attitudes. A total of 360 female consumers were divided into 4 group according to purchase frequency and the eco attitude, Type 1: survival (33.0%), Type 2: wellbeing (25.6%), Type 3: curious (15.0%), Type 4: LOHAS (26.4%); in addition, age, income, marit alstatus, occupation, LOHAS lifestyle and shopping places were differentiated by type. Type 1 (low eco attitude and low eco-clothing purchase) were composed of the youngest, college students, low income, low level of LOHAS lifestyles and low level of eco-clothing attitude. Type 2 (high eco attitude and low eco-clothing purchase) were interested in healthy eating & exercise among LOHAS lifestyles; in addition, Type 1 & 2 showed alow level of eco-clothing satisfaction. Type 3, low eco attitude and high eco-clothing purchase, were characterized with high expenditures on clothing relative to income as well as lower levels of family activities and leisure life than LOHAS Type 4. Type 4 (high eco attitude and high eco-clothing purchase) were the oldest group and mostly composed of married workers (the highest income) with the highest LOHAS lifestyles and the highest level of eco-clothing satisfaction.

  • 국토해양부에서는 차세대 국가 핵심역량으로 u-Eco City 사업을 추진하고 있다. u-Eco City 사업에서는 u-Eco City 구현을 위한 다양한 기술이 개발되며, 개발된 기술을 testbed에 적용하여 실제 현장에서의 적용가능성을 검증하는 내용을 포함하고 있다. 본 연구과제는 지방자치단체나 건설업체가 Eco City 를 구축하고자 할 때 활용할 수 있는 u-Eco City 구축 가이드라인 제시를 목적으로 하고 있다. 'u-Eco City 구축 가이드라인'은 6차년도에 걸쳐 진행될 예정인데, 본 연구는 2차년도에 해당되는 연구이다. 2차년도에는 'u-Eco City 구축 가이드라인 프레임웍 개발'을 목표로 하며, 주요 연구내용은 1차년도에 추진되었던 'u-Eco City 구축 가이드라인 기초연구'를 토대로 u-Eco City 구축의 단계를 정립하고, 각 단계별 세부내역을 체계화하며 세부단계별로 수행해야 할 업무를 표준화하는데 있다.

A Study on the Planning Elements for Eco-friendly Outdoor Playground (친환경 실외 놀이터 계획 요소에 관한 연구)

  • Since Seoul city supplied 'Sangsang Children's Playground', domestic playgrounds are changing from formal facilities to creative play and learning space recently. From eco-friendly safe playground model development project, eco-friendly playground planning and its actual cases have been occasionally introduced. However, we could not know how well most playgrounds reflect eco-friendly features and whether they are eco-friendly or not because the definition about the concept of eco-friendly playground is inadequate and there are not the specific planning guidelines and evaluation standards for making the eco-friendly playground. Therefore, the development of guidelines for the construction of eco-friendly playground is required and evaluation guidelines for them should be made for the active dissemination of the actual eco-friendly playground and the proper construction of the eco-friendly playground. In this study, we defined the concept of eco-friendly outdoor playground and presented the types and characteristics of the playground based on the concept and suggested basic plan guidelines based on the existing requirements for becoming eco-friendly playground. For this purpose, we checked the plan's common points in the existing playground configuration requirements, installation standards, regulations, and safety standards, and offered the planning elements and guidelines through the analysis of outdoor space evaluation standard in eco-friendly safe playground guidelines and eco-friendly building certification system.

Substitute Textile Preferences for Eco-Friendly Leather Goods: Focusing on Shoes and Bags

  • In the 21st century, the demand for eco-friendly leather, such as eco-leather and vegan leather, is steadily increasing. This study examines the influence of eco-friendliness on consumers' purchasing intentions and the possibility of eco-friendly changes in the fashion accessory market, which is dominated by leather material and leather substitutes. This study administered a questionnaire survey to 227 males and females between 20 and 60 years of age in Korea. With a 5-point Likert scale, data were collected on evaluation criteria when purchasing shoes and bags and purchasing intention of various leather substitute materials according to the democratic variables. The eco-friendliness attitude was divided into eco-consciousness and green behavior. As the eco-friendly attitude increased, most purchasing standards increased, but the purchasing criteria, such as trends, brands, and prices, did not correlate with the eco-friendly attitude. The eco-consciousness of a consumer had a high correlation with the design evaluation criteria, while the green behavior of the consumer aligned with durability and comfort criteria when purchasing a bag. There was a preference for recycled leather, vegetable leather, synthetic leather, and chemical leather, and the fabric type was ranked as natural fiber, biodegradable fiber, and synthetic fiber. Consumers with both green behavior and eco-consciousness are more likely to purchase biodegradable textiles and vegetable leather for the material of shoes and bags.

  • Purpose: This study analyzes the strategical priority to improve eco-labelling certification system, focused on biodegradable resin. Methods: This study will come up with measures to operate the eco-Label certification system related to biodegradable products more effectively and efficiently by discovering various problems related to the system, using causal loop diagram and AHP analysis. Results: This study shows that the government should play more important role while firms could also serve their roles in the initial and stabilizing stages of the eco-labelling certification system, in order to vitalize the eco-Label certification system more effective. Conclusion: This study addresses strategic eco-labelling policies on governmental and firm's operation and providers guidance to practitioners in addressing strategic decision relating to eco-labelling certification system.

  • Paris Agreement of Climate Change seem affect to Korea eco-policy. Meanwhile the eco-design for reduce carbon emission have been applied in design phase of construction. However eco-design have applied passively except the project of eco-building system. For reflect eco-component in design, design VE that be appling to basic design and executing design phase of all construction project of over 10 billion should be use. But present applying VE Job Plan is reflecting partly eco-component, so the effect is small. Therefor new eco-VE development that reflect eco-elements to exist VE need. As the result of this study, the concept of environmental cost is defined to accounting. The calculation of the cost was using methods that apply $CO_2$ emission trading price, WTP, carbon productivity concept and carbon tax based on $CO_2$ emission. However, in order to apply eco-friendly VE at design phase, the model of new concept included carbon productivity concept is necessary. The eco-friendly VE model of new concept is model using $CO_2$ emission and potential environmental pollution index (PEPI). This study tried define eco-value model and environmental cost definition that become the major axle of eco-VE.

Assessment of CO2 Emissions of Eco-friendly Lightweight Form in the Construction Process (시공단계에서의 친환경 경량 거푸집 탄소배출량 평가)

  • The purpose of this study is to validate the environmental performance of the 'eco-friendly lightweight form' in the construction process. Unlike existing euro form and aluminum form, the proposed form does not require form oil during the process of concrete casting and is lightweight because it is made of engineering plastic. Therefore, eco-friendly lightweight form will reduce the $CO_2$ emissions in the construction process. To verify the hypothesis, the study compared existing forms and eco-friendly light weight form's $CO_2$ emissions in each stage in construction process when using 1,000 forms and 100 times from the LCI(Life Cycle Inventory) data. The total $CO_2$ emissions of the eco-friendly light weight form were 30,487kg $CO_2$, which equated to about 58% and 20% less emissions than the euroform and aluminum form. The result of the study verified that the eco-friendly lightweight form was effectively reduced $CO_2$ emission in the construction process.

Relationship among Outdoor Brand's Eco-Friendly Activities, Brand Image and Word of Mouth Intention

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to provide directions and implications related to eco-friendly marketing and products of outdoor brand companies by empirically analyzing the influence of outdoor brand's eco-friendly activities on brand image and word of mouth. Research design, data, and methodology: In this study, a survey was conducted on those who have purchased outdoor brand products through the convenience sampling method, and a total of 470 effective samples were collected. Frequency analysis, reliability analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and structural equation model analysis were conducted based on the collected data. Results: As a result of the analysis, first, it was found that eco-friendly marketing among the eco-friendly activities of outdoor brands did not have a positive effect on the brand image. Second, among the eco-friendly activities of outdoor brands, eco-friendly products were found to have a positive effect on the brand image. Third, it was found that the brand image had an effect on word of mouth intention. Conclusions: Academic and practical implications were discussed based on the research results that eco-friendly marketing of outdoor brands does not have a positive effect on brand image, eco-friendly products have a positive effect on brand image, and brand image affects word of mouth.

Comparison in Restriction Profile Analysis of Vibrio furnissi, Vibrio fluvialis, and Vibrio parahaemolyicus Bacteriophage from Sea Product

  • The bacteriophages lytic for Vibrio furnissi, Vibrio furniulis and Vibrio parahemolyticus were isolated from fish gills and shellfish. Nucleic acid of bacteriophage was prepared and restriction endonuclease profile was compared. All isolates contained deoxyribonucleic acid. V. fumissi bacteriophage from fish gills showed 2 bands with Bgl II, 1 with Pst, 3 with Hind III, 1 with Bm HI and 2 with EcoR I. V Puuialis phage represented 7 fragments with Bgl II, 1 with Pst, 4 with Hind III, and 2 with EcoR I. V parhemolyticn produced 13 sites with Hind III and 4 sites with EcoR I. The fragment types were varied depending on the phage isolation. All three phages were digested with Hind III and EcoR I with different sizes. V furnissi phage were digested with 5 different restriction enzymes. Key words: Bacteriophage, Vibrio furnissi, Vibrio fluvialis, Vibrio pnrahemolyticus, Deoxyribonucleic acid, Pst, Bam HI, Hind III, EcoR I, Bgl II.
