Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the corrosion resistance of heat-treated (Reciproc and WaveOne) and non-heat-treated (ProTaper and Mtwo) superelastic nickel-titanium endodontic files when immersed in a 5.25% sodium hypochlorite solution. Materials and Methods: Anodic polarization curves were obtained with potential sweeps that began at the open circuit potential or corrosion potential (Ecorr). The pitting potential (Epit) was identified on the anodic polarization curve as the potential at which a sudden increase in current was observed. The micromorphology of the 28 tested files was analyzed before and after the electrochemical assay using scanning electron microscope (SEM). The data were analyzed using 1-way analysis of variance with the post hoc Bonferroni test (for Ecorr) and the Student t-test for independent samples (for Epit). Results: The mean Ecorr values were 0.506 V for ProTaper, 0.348 V for Mtwo, 0.542 V for Reciproc, and 0.321 V for WaveOne files. Only WaveOne and Protaper files exhibited pitting corrosion, with Epit values of 0.879 V and 0.904 V, respectively. On the SEM images of the ProTaper and WaveOne files, cavities suggestive of pitting corrosion were detected. Conclusions: Signs of corrosion were observed in both heat-treated and non-heat-treated files. Of the evaluated files, WaveOne (a heat-treated file) and ProTaper (a non-heat-treated file) exhibited the lowest corrosion resistance.

This paper describes a study on the abnormal behavior of the electrical characteristics of the (n)GaAs/Ti/Pt/Au Schottky contacts prepared by the two techniques of electron beam deposition and rf sputtering and after an annealing treatment. The samples were characterized by I-V and C-V measurements carried out over the temperature range of 150 - 350 K both in the as prepared state and after a 300 C, 30 min. anneal step. The variation of ideality factor with forward bias, the variation of ideality factor and barrier height with temperature and the difference between the capacitance barrier and current barrier show the presence of a thin interfacial oxide layer along with barrier height inhomogenieties at the metal/semiconductor interface. This barrier height inhomogeneity model also explains the lower barrier height for the sputtered samples to be due to the presence of low barrier height patches produced because of high plasma energy. After the annealing step the contacts prepared by electron beam have the highest typical current barrier height of 0.85 eV and capacitance barrier height of 0.86 eV whereas those prepared by sputtering (at the highest power studied) have the lowest typical current barrier height of 0.67 eV and capacitance barrier height of 0.78 eV.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the changes in the values of Hounsfield Unit (HU) according to the changes in monoenergy (keV) and dilution ratio of the contrast agent, using the spectral CT. Spectral CT was used as the testing device, while 20 cc syringe phantom was used to set a total of six dilution ratios of the contrast agent: 8:2, 7:3, 6:4, 5:5, 4:6, and 3:7. Here, the non-ionic iodine solution (350 mg/ml) was used as a contrast agent. The syringe axial image was reconstructed by adjusting the obtained data on nine MonoE levels; 40 keV, 45 keV, 50 keV, 55 keV, 60 keV, 65 keV, 70 keV, 75 keV, and 80 keV. The HU values were measured at the three points of the reconstructed syringe axial image. The measurements were taken 1,620 times in total. In the analysis of the HU values according to the changes in keV and dilution ratio of the contrast agent, the highest and lowest HU values were obtained from dilution ratio 8:2 and dilution ratio 3:7, respectively, across every MonoE in the comparison of HU according to dilution ratio per MonoE (p<0.05), while the highest and lowest HU values were obtained from 40 keV and 80 keV, respectively, across all dilution ratios in the comparison of HU according to MonoE per dilution ratio (p<0.05). For the correlation per each parameter, a negative correlation of -15.014 ± 0.298 was found for HU per keV (R2=0.519) and a negative correlation of -61.372 ± 3.608 was found for HU per dilution ratio (R2=0.152) (p<0.05). To conclude, an increase in keV or dilution ratio of the contrast agent was shown to decrease the HU, and the findings in this study are anticipated to serve as the basic data in the research of HU-related parameters in Spectral CT.

A titanium oxide thin films were prepared by air oxidation and vapour oxidation and a $TiO_2$ single crystal was reduced by heating in an argon atmosphere. All the electrode characteristics of the Ti$O_{2-x}$, thin films are not different from those of slightly reduced single crystal rutile. In cyclic voltammogram of oxygen containing electrolyte solution at Ti$O_{2-x}$ electrodes, cathodic peaks were observed at between -0.8V and -1.0V vs. SCE. The cathodic current near 0V vs. SCE in saturated solution with nitrogen was observed to be greater than in saturated solution with air. The chronoamperogram was represented by the equation of i = $i_0e^{-kt}$, when the rate constant k was represented by the equation of k =$k_0{[H^+]}^nexp(A{\eta}+E_a/RT)$ The values of activation energy $E_a $were found to be 4.6~4.8kcal/mole in overpotential range of 0.035∼0.145 V and 1.6kcal/mole in overpotential range of 0.2∼0.5V. The values of n and A were found to be 0. 1 and 5.4~5.6/V in range of 0.035~0.145V, and in range of 0.2~0.5V, to be 0.04 and 1.3/V, respectively. This can be interpreted as an totally irreversible reduction of oxygen.

In this experiment molybdeum oxide($MoO_3$) films were prepared by a magnetic null discharge(MND) sputtering system and fundamental properties by XRD, XPS and SEM analysis were investigated. The initial and mean insulation resistance of the same with $MoO_3$ film were about 1.4[$M{\Omega}$] and 800[$k{\Omega}$] under the condition of applied voltage of 400[V]. The preferred orientation in the films changed from(100) to (210) with substrate temperature. Two XPS peaks of the $MoO_3$ photoelectron were detected at the binding energies of 228.9[eV] and 232.4[eV], while the binding energy of the O1s peak was 532.6[eV]. The substrate temperature and reactivity gives large effects to the structure and growth of the film and system is also very useful for performing the uniform reactive deposition. It can be found from the result of a $MoO_3$ film deposition that the system is very useful for performing the uniform reactive sputtering.

When developing a weapon system, a T&E(Test and Evaluation) can be performed using M&S for the test items that cannot be evaluated in the real world. In this case, the VV&A activities are required to prove the credibility of M&S for the T&E. Recently, the use of M&S has been increasing as the R&D trends of weapon systems are becoming more advanced. Therefore, the VV&A activities are also increasing. The VV&A activities aim to verify, validate, and accredit that the simulation can represent a real system and ensure credibility regarding its purpose and intention of use. VV&A activities are divided into V&V and Accreditation. When performing VV&A in the ADD (Agency for Defense Development), the V&V activities are performed by a separate department of the ADD and the accreditation activities are performed in the DTAQ (Defense Agency for Technology and Quality). This paper proposes a V&V process for a T&E of M&S that has been performed in ADD. The process is used to verify and validate the documents and data generated during the development process according to the accreditation criteria, and provides objective data that can be used to judge whether the accreditation decision and acceptance criteria are met.
Natural gamma-decalactone (GDL) produced by biotransformation is an essential food additive with a peach-like aroma. However, the difficulty of effectively controlling the concentration of the substrate ricinoleic acid (RA) in water limits the biotransformation productivity, which is a bottleneck for industrialization. In this study, expanded vermiculite (E-V) was utilized as a carrier of RA to increase its distribution in the medium. E-V and three commonly used organic compounds were compared with respect to their effects on the biotransformation process, and the mechanism was revealed. Scanning electron microscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis indicated that RA was physically adsorbed onto the surface of and inside E-V instead of undergoing a chemical reaction, which increased the opportunity for interactions between microorganisms and the substrate. The highest concentration of GDL obtained in the medium with E-V was 6.2 g/l, which was 50% higher than that in the reference sample. In addition, the presence of E-V had no negative effect on the viability of the microorganisms. This study provides a new method for producing natural GDL through biotransformation on an industrial scale.

Based on a new concept of connection index of a weighted graph, a new efficient houris tic algorithm of 0(v.e) for network partitioning is presented, where v and e are the number of nodes and edges, respectively. Experimental results show that our algorithm is very efficient and yields an optimal or near optimal solution for a number of partitioning problems tested. Some applications of the proposed algorithm are suggested and its computer implementation is described in detail.
The synthesis and absorption spectra of squarvlium(SQ) dyes and croconium(CR) dyes were .studied. Absorption spectra of SQ dye in various solvents exhibited a negative solvatochrornism. Thus, it was suggested that the structure of SQ dye may be a highly polar structure. The λ$_{max}$ of CR dyes undergoes a bathochromic shift of about 100nm compared with the corresponding SQ dyes. This shift can be calculated by the Pariser-Parr-Pople molecular orbital method. From the PPP MO calculation results, we found that SQ dye and CR dye have a almost same Highest Occupied Molecular Orbital(HOMO) level(SQ : -8.0eV, CR : -8.09eV). On the other hand, energy levels of Lowest Unoccupied Molecular Orbital(LUMO) of SQ and CR dyes are -4.09eV and -4.13eV respectively. Thus, replacement of five membered ring by four membered ring in SQ dye causes a large bathochromic shift.t.
