Job Satisfaction among South Korean Police Officers: A Qualitative Approach

  • Police officers' job satisfaction has usually been measured by quantitative methods such as survey. This research is the first attempt to interview police officers in Korea to find how satisfied they are with their job. Based on e-mail interview with fourteen police officers in Korea, the study measured the multiple dimensions of job satisfaction including work condition, relationship with supervisors and colleagues, personnel management, pay and benefit, and discretion. The results suggested that police officers' attitude toward their job and motivation of becoming police officers may influence their job satisfaction. Other findings and policy implications are also discussed.

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to find out how shipping company recognizes making partnership with the third party logistics provider and to give implication. Research design, data and methodology - Personal interview and questionnaire by E-mail, Fax, Mail, and telephone were used. 700 copies of the questionnaires were distributed and 155 copied were returned. Among collected questionnaires, 20 copies were excluded because of insufficient content, and therefore 135 copies were used. Results - Korea should change into new paradigm from old one based on current economic and social systems which has stemmed from bureaucracy, inflexibility chauvinism and equalitarianism. Flexible policies, administration and systems will be needed for better business practices. The Domestic logistics corporation needs to preoccupy strategic logistics hub and network. Conclusions - To be a center of North East Logistics, Korea needs more reasonable business law, systems and policies. Social norms and orders should be established to accomplish political and social security. A paradigm of the policy ruling over development of capital city and satellite cities shall make change.

패션 산업 인턴십에 대한 의식 연구 -패션 기업 관계자를 중심으로 - (A Study on the Consciousness of Fashion Industry Internship - Focused on Directors of fashion Industries -)

  • The purpose of this study were to analyse the consciousness of persons in charge of fashion industries and to provide some basis data for development of the fashion internship program which could reduce differentiation between fashion colleges and fashion companies. Fifty national fashion brands had been randomly selected and question researches had done from August twenty-seventh to October thirtieth by the visit, mail, fax and e-mail etc. Date analyses were conducted with SPSS program on the frequency, t-test and ANOVA. The results were as follows. The companies selected interns by documents and interview, however, in the future they will prefer to accept interns by appraising some task. They preferred to apprentice for two months with some simple job and tasks. The companies wanted some prerequisite study such as major curriculum, human nature education, computer education. And each division wanted different curriculum. They wanted to be joined with industrial disaster insurance for intern and to be given allowance and credit. They also preferred reputation ratio of industry : college as $70\%$ : $30\%$ for intern reputation. There were some vitalizing method of fashion internship such as discriminated fashion internship program, government support for industries, universities and students, organization opening to connect industry and . university, mentor-system and credit system introducing, curriculum reforming in the university.

Exploring the contents of personal information protection education in the pre-director education

  • 본 연구는 보육종사자 보수교육에서 개인정보보호교육을 위한 교육내용을 선정하고 구조화하기 위한 내용탐색의 목적에서 수행되었다. 선행연구 및 문헌자료를 수집하고 분석하였으며 교육신청자 125명을 대상으로 사전 설문조사를 실시하였다. 조사된 자료를 바탕으로 심층집단 요구분석(FGI)을 통해 교육내용을 구조화 하였다. 심층집단 요구분석에는 기관의 개인정보책임자 및 교육 수료자 등이 참여하였다. 집단면담과 이메일 등을 통한 개별면담 등을 실시하였고, 도출된 의견에 대하여 2인의 교육전문가에게 적절성을 검토 받아 최종 내용을 선정하였다. 개인정보보호 교육내용 탐색의 방향은 정보관리 단계별 실무에 대한 내용과, 문서작성 등의 실습이 추가되어야 하는 것으로 나타났다.

전자거래기업에서의 온-라인 조직구조 설계방안에 관한 연구 (An Exploratory Investigation of On-line Organizational Structure Design for the E-Commerce Firm)

  • 본 연구는 기업의 전자거래 활용유형을 조직관리 관점에서 이해하는 것이고 서로 다른 유형의 전자거래 활동이 정보시스템 및 네트워크 중심의 조직설계 도메인(domain) 구조에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대하여 이해하고 전자거래 유형별 조직관리의 차이존재 여부를 검증한다. 본 연구모델은 기업의 전자거래 활동유형을 세 가지 즉, 구매측면, 내부, 그리고 판매측면으로 구분하여 조직관리 특성요인들 즉, 분권화, 공식화, 전문화, 통합화와의 구성개념들로 구성되었으며 다중회귀분석에 의한 탐색을 위해 58개 업체들로 받은 설문을 활용하였다. 본 연구를 통해 밝혀진 전자거래 유형별 조직의 특성과 역량을 올바르게 이해하고 온-라인 관점에서 업무프로세스 통합의 기본요소들인 조직구성원의 권한부여와 역할의 구성과 같은 조직설계 및 관리 요인에 대하여 방향설정을 제시할 수 있다는 점에서 본 연구가 시사하는 바가 있다고 본다.

인터넷 벤처비즈니스 평가체계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Performance Evaluation System of Internet venture Business)

  • Riding on the wave of the information technology revolution, a slow of internet venture businesses (IVB) came into being. Hence, one of the recent developments in Korean capital market has been the proliferation of IVB, which is in accordance with the worldwide trend of ‘new economy’. Although the fair valuation is crucial for the nourishment of IVB, it is difficult to apply traditional valuation methods to these firms without reservation. It is due to the facts that most venture firms have little records of performance, grow unprecedently fast, and have highly uncertain future. The main purpose of this study is to suggest performance evaluation system of IVB and to develop KPE (Key Performance Indicators). Our empirical study is based upon Kaplan & Norton’s Balance Scorecard (BSC) approach. Specifically, our research has been conducted by the following two subsequent procedures: Firstly, seven internet venture firms have been selected and their executives have been interviewed by FGI(Focus Group Interview) method. Based upon these results, performance indicators have been developed. Secondly, by using the above mentioned BSC items (i.e., financial perspective, customer perspective, internal perspective and innovation & learning perspective), questionnaires have been constructed and sent to IVB through e-mail as well as over the Fax. Among the collected 110 samples, reliable 106 samples have been used to build BSC model and to draw our conclusion. In the future study, it would be much better to consider the role of strategy in IVB and the causal relationship among Key Performance Indicators of BSC.

인구동태조사 개선을 위한 방법론적 고찰 (A Study on Vital Statistics Survey : its Type, Source of Errors and Improvement Scheme)

  • It is well known that vital statistics is of great importance as basic data for establishing various range of national policies. Especially, vital statistics is important among demographic information for monitoring and evaluating the population policy, for constructing life table, for making population projection, and for studying various aspects of the society. In principle, the production of vital statistics is based on the registration system. It is, however, still observed that there are some limitations in utilizing fully the registration system due to the inherent problems such as problems in its coverage, accuracies and timeliness. Thus, as an alternative, many countries conduct survey on vital statistics in order to supplement the registration system and obtain in-depth data. Korea is no exception in this aspect. The National Bureau of Statistics carries out the so-called Continuous Demographic Survey. This is a kind of multi-round retrospective survey, covering 32, 000 households and having reference period of one month. The survey has also characteristics of multi-subject sample. Thus, surveys on economic activity status of population, house-hold income & expenditure, and social indicators are together conducted with the same sample. It is, however, found that the survey itself tends to have some quality problems. Especially, the quality problems connected with field data collection are summarized as coverage error, non-response error and response error. Although it is inevitable not to be free from these errors, we should make all our efforts to reduce the errors. The probable schemes pointed out in this paper are as follows : 1) the strengthening formal quality control activities, 2) the review of the survey method, i. e., the combining interview method with mail-sending and mail-back method or pick-up method, 3) well documentation for various cases found in every stage of data collection, and 4) the strengthening the analytical activities. It is, also, emphasized that sincerity of planners and interviewers is the most important factor among other things.

의류브랜드 소비자의 고객관계관리 경험에 관한 탐색적 연구 - 남성복, 여성복, 캐주얼, 스포츠의류 소비자의 비교를 중심으로 - (A Qualitative Research about the CRM Experiences of Apparel Brand Customers)

  • The purpose of this study were 1) to analyze customer relationship management(CRM) based on the online customer experiences by product types (i.e., men's, women's, casual, sports wear), 2) to analyze CRM based on the off-line customer experiences by product type, and 3) to examine customer purchase behavior of fashion products and internet usage behavior by product types. Survey and 1:1 interview were conducted from January 13th to May 16th, 2005. Six consumers from each brand (i.e., 3 loyal customers and 3 general customers) in a total of 24 customers were selected from each product type. For the data analysis, content analysis and descriptive statistics (i.e. frequency) were used. Among the key study findings first, as a result of the on-line CRM experience, the customers of men's wear preferred receiving customized information through e-mail or SMS service. The customers of sports wear preferred receiving a different level of information and participating in customized product service. Second, as a result of the off-line CRM experience, the customers of men's wear need to be encouraged to join a membership at a sales encounter and the customers of women's wear preferred receiving quick information of new products and participating in a design development planning of the merchandising process. Third, the purchasing behavior of the customers of women's wear are influenced mostly by the salesperson and the store atmosphere when they purchase clothes and the customers of men's wear are price-sensitive. The results of this study can be used when fashion brands perform strategic planning and decision making on CRM.

대수식과 디자인의 연결과정에서의 영재학생들의 수학적 사고 과정 분석 (A study of gifted students's mathematical process of thinking by connecting algebraic expression and design activities)

  • Students can infer mathematical principles in a very natural way by connecting mutual relations between mathematical fields. These process can be revealed by taking tasks that can derive mathematical connections. The task of this study is to make expression and design it and derive mathematical principles from the design. This study classifies the mathematical field of expression for design and analyzes mathematical thinking process by connecting mathematical fields. To complete this study, 40 gifted students from 5 to 8 grade were divided into two classes and given 4 hours of instruction. This study analyzes their personal worksheets and e-mail interview. The students make expressions using a functional formula, remainder and figure. While investing mathematical principles, they generalized design by mathematical guesses, generalized principles by inference and accurized concept and design rules. This study proposes the class that can give the chance to infer mathematical principles by connecting mathematical fields by designing.
