In previous studies, we demonstrated that some sites in the first intron likely regulate gene expression. In the present work, we sought to further confirm the functional relevance of first intron sites by estimating the quantity of rare alleles in the first intron. A basic hypothesis posited herein is that genomic regions carrying more functionally important sites will have a higher proportion of rare alleles. We estimated the proportions of rare single nucleotide polymorphisms with a minor allele frequency < 0.01 located in several histone marks in the first introns of various genes, and compared them with those in other introns and those in 2-kb upstream regions. As expected, rare alleles were found to be significantly enriched in most of the regulatory sites located in the first introns. Meanwhile, transcription factor binding sites were significantly more enriched in the 2-kb upstream regions (i.e., the regions of putative promoters of genes) than in the first introns. These results strongly support our proposal that the first intron sites of genes may have important regulatory functions in gene expression independent of promoters.

온라인 전자상거래가 활발해 짐에 따라 온라인 전자상거래 사이트에 있어서 사용성의 중요성이 대두되고 있다. 특히 농식품과 같은 이질적인 상품의 경우 온라인 전자상거래 사이트에서 사용자들은 가격보다 전자상거래의 거래단계 중 정보단계의 정보의 질에 영향을 많이 받는 것으로 나타났다. 실제로 Wine.com, Tesco 와 같은 성공적인 농식품 전자상거래 사이트에서는 웹사이트의 지속적인 테스팅이 성공요인으로 나타났다. 이에 본 연구에서는 농식품 온라인 전자상거래과정에 있어 분석되어야 할 프로세스를 알아보고, 구매 프로세스에 준한 사용자의 이용행태에 따른 인터페이스 분석, 평가를 통해 그 결과를 바탕으로 농식품 전자상거래 사이트의 사용성 개선방안을 제시하고자 한다. 본 연구에서는 휴리스틱평가를 통한 객관적 평가로써 전자상거래의 정보단계를 보다 세분화 하여 평가 할 수 있으며, 발성사고법을 통한 사용자 과업 수행 관찰을 통하여 기존의 만족도 조사보다 적은 시간과 비용으로 사용성 평가를 할 수 있게 되었다.

프랑스 신부인 Faurie는 1901년, 1906년, 1907년 등 3회에 걸쳐 한반도의 부산, 서울, 인천, 남포, 평양, 원산, 강원도 금강산, 제주도 등을 돌면서 많은 종의 표본을 채집하였는데 당시 채집된 많은 표본들은 T. Nakai, H. L$\acute{e}$veill$\acute{e}$의 주요 연구 표본으로 인용되었으나, 표본에 기재된 로마자 지명은 현재의 지명과 비교하기가 매우 어렵다. 본 조사에서는 문헌에 기재된 Faurie의 표본을 근거로 당시에 기록된 지명을 현재지명으로 표시하고, 문헌과 표본을 근거로 한반도에서의 Faurie의 채집행적을 날짜순으로 정리하였다.

$CO_2$ adsorption on mineral sorbents has a potential to sequester $CO_2$. This study used a density functional theory (DFT) study of $CO_2$ adsorption on barium oxide (BaO) in the presence of $H_2O$ to determine the role of $H_2O$ on the $CO_2$ adsorption properties on the ($2{\times}2$; $11.05\;{\AA}{\times}11.05\;{\AA}$) BaO (100) surface because BaO shows a high reactivity for $CO_2$ adsorption and the gas mixture of power plants generally contains $CO_2$ and $H_2O$. We investigated the adsorption properties (e.g., adsorption energies and geometries) of a single $CO_2$ molecule, a single $H_2O$ molecule on the surface to achieve molecular structures and molecular reaction mechanisms. In order to evaluate the coordinative effect of $H_2O$ molecules, this study also carried out the adsorption of a pair of $H_2O$ molecules, which was strongly bounded to neighboring (-1.91 eV) oxygen sites and distant sites (-1.86 eV), and two molecules ($CO_2$ and $H_2O$), which were also firmly bounded to neighboring sites (-2.32 eV) and distant sites (-2.23 eV). The quantum mechanical calculations show that $H_2O$ molecule does not influence on the chemisorption of $CO_2$ on the BaO surface, producing a stable carbonate due to the strong interaction between the $CO_2$ molecule and the BaO surface, resulting from the high charge transfer (-0.76 e).

Local governments in Korea are involved in three types of online shopping sites : 'direct operation', 'outsourced operation', and 'sales agency.' They are different in terms of the site operator and the charging mechanism among a local government, the site operator, and local producers. This study analyzes their differences in site traffic, local producers' participation, promotion, and partnership. The results from the investigation of 72 shopping sites are the following. First, shopping sites of the 'direct operation' type and the 'outsourced operation' type show significantly higher participation of local producers. Second, the 'marketing agency' type has significantly higher number of promotional activities than the 'oursourced type' which has significantly higher number than the 'direct operation' type. Third, the number of partnerships in the 'marketing agency' type is the highest. The 'direct operation' type is the second and significantly higher than the 'outsourced type.' On the basis of the analysis results, this paper suggests an incubation ecosystem model as a better way of involvement by local governments in online shopping sites.

A great number of customers, who want to watch movies usually check out online reviews before choosing what to watch a movie. The most representative online media that customers consult are portal sites and SNS (Social Network Service). Although there have been numerous studies on online eWOM (e-Word of Mouth) and the effects of online media in businesses, it remains a question that which media is best for WOM (Word of Mouth) when selecting movies. This research examines customer's intention for consulting eWOM and for watching movies according to the number and tendency of online replies. We have compared portal sites and SNS about information of movie. The study shows that a large number of positive replies can affect the intention for WOM and choosing movies. Facebook has more influence than portal sites when choosing what to watch when replies consist of large and positive comments. However, there is no difference between the two types of media when they consist of negative comments.

In cut throat competition, organizations all over the world try to utilize the immense opportunities the Internet has to offer in almost all of their operations. Today, Social networking sites (SNSs) provide utilities designed to help companies to recruit right personnel. Considering the implication of social media for recruitment at infancy stage in Pakistan and lack of studies related to it, this study aims to investigate the role of different SNSs qualities (Easily navigate, Secure process, Eminence Proficiency, Candidate's Attraction and Network Expedition) in effective E-recruitment (EER). Data were collected through structured questionnaire from employees and managers of major telecom companies of Pakistan. Finally, the result of 355 returned and valid questionnaire with 55% response rate show that the relationship between SNSs qualities and EER is significant. Moreover, results also prove that EER is better than the tradition recruitment and a SNSs comparison show that Facebook is more effective than LinkedIn for EER. The results of this study will help Pakistani companies to develop a successful e-HRM and EER strategy in the current scenario.

This study aimed to investigate the signal transduction of phosphorylation sites at the carboxyl (C)-terminal region of equine luteinizing hormone/chorionic gonadotropin receptor (eLH/CGR). The eLH/CGR has a large extracellular domain of glycoprotein hormone receptors within the G protein-coupled receptors. We constructed a mutant (eLH/CGR-t656) of eLH/CGR, in which the C-terminal cytoplasmic tail was truncated at the Phe656 residue, through polymerase chain reaction. The eLH/CGR-t656 removed 14 potential phosphorylation sites in the intracellular C-terminal region. The plasmids were transfected into Chinese hamster ovary (CHO)-K1 and PathHunter Parental cells expressing β-arrestin, and agonist-induced cAMP responsiveness was analyzed. In CHO-K1 cells, those expressing eLH/CGR-t656 were lower than those expressing eLH/CGR wild-type (eLH/CGR-wt). The EC₅₀ of the eLH/CGR-t656 mutant was approximately 72.2% of the expression observed in eLH/CGR-wt. The maximal response in eLH/CGR-t656 also decreased to approximately 43% of that observed in eLH/CGR-wt. However, in PathHunter Parental cells, cAMP activity and maximal response of the eLH/CGR-t656 mutant were approximately 173.5% and 100.8%, respectively, of that of eLH/CGR-wt. These results provide evidence that the signal transduction of C-terminal phosphorylation in eLH/CGR plays a pivotal role in CHO-K1 cells. The cAMP level was recovered in PathHunter Parental cells expressing β-arrestin. We suggest that the signal transduction of the C-terminal region phosphorylation sites is remarkably different depending on the cells expressing β-arrestin in CHO-K1 cells.

Paleomagnetic study of Tertiary rocks in Pohang area has been carried out to determine the characteristic directon of natural remanent magnetization, the position of paleomagnetic pole, the stratigraphic correlation, and the tectonic movement. A total of 196 specimens was collected from 5 sites in the Pohang Basin, 19 sites in the Janggi Basin, and 10 sites in the Eoil Basin, respectively. The mean declination and inclination of 4 sites (3 sites in the Yonil Group and 1 site in the Yonil Basalt) are $-3.2^{\circ}$ and $54.3^{\circ}$, and yield the paleomagnetic pole position $86.9^{\circ}N$ and $7.7^{\circ}E$. These are the characteristic direction and pole position of Miocene Epoch by comparison with contemporary Eurasian and Chinese data. The characteristic direction and pole position of remaining 30 sites are $47.6^{\circ}$ and $57.5^{\circ}$, and $52.3^{\circ}N$ and $201.5^{\circ}E$, respectively. These show clockwise rotation of $50.8^{\circ}$ with respect to the Miocene ones resulted by a tectonic movement before the deposition of the Hakjeon Formation of the Yonil Group about 15~16 Ma in the study area. The mechanism of the clockwise rotation is considered to be the dextral movement of the Yangsan Fault presumably caused by the opening of the East Sea. The Yonil Basalt is reclassified into pre- and post-deposition of the Yonil Group, i.e. the former is early Miocene and the latter late Miocene.

무역포탈사이트는 중소기업들이 최신의 정보와 통신기술을 통해 효율적으로 국제무역활동을 할 수 있게 하는 도구중 하나라고 할 수 있다. 따라서 중소기업들의 수출경쟁력 제고를 위해서는 무역포탈사이트를 적극적으로 활용할 필요가 있다. 이와 관련하여 본 논문은 기존의 서비스품질에 관한 문헌과 정보기술 이용만족도에 관한 연구 검토를 통해 무역포탈사이트를 사용하는데 있어 이용자들의 만족 요인을 분석하였다. 실증 연구를 위해 서비스품질, 정부정책, 기술, 기업, 비용이 이용만족도에 영향을 미치고 이용만족도는 향후 지속적 이용의도에 영향을 미치는 것으로 연구모형을 설정하였다. 대표적인 무역포탈사이트 이용자들에 대한 실종분석 결과 서비스품질, 정부정책, 비용이 이용자만족에 유의한 영향을 미치고, 이용자 이용만족은 지속적 사용의도에 유의적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 분석 결과는 기업의 무역포탈사이트 관리자, 전자무역시스템개발자, 정부정책자 등에게 여러 가지 시사점을 제공하고 있다.
