Recently, the RF inductive discharge or inductively coupled plasma(ICP) continues to attract growing attention as an effective plasma source in many industrial applications, the best known of which are plasma processing and lighting technology. To the point of lighting sources, the electrodeless fluorescent lamps utilizing an inductively coupled plasma(ICP) have been objects of interest and research during the last decades, mainly because of their potential for extremely long life, high lamp efficacies, rapid power switching response. The electrodeless fluorescent lamp that is dealt with in this work comprises a bulb filled with rare gas and amalgam of vaporizable metal and has a coil provided with a winding around the ferrite. Current through a coil produces a magnetic field in the discharge space The changing magnetic flux then produces an azimuthal electric field E around the coil, according to Faraday's laws of magnetic induction.

An experiment for uranium sorption onto fresh and weathered biotites was performed. After centrifugation, concentrations of uranium in the supernatants were analyzed using ICP-MS, and biotite samples were investigated using XRD and SEM. With powdered biotites (<3 mm in size), we have conducted uranium sorption experiments about fresh and weathered biotites to obtain uranium sorption amounts in various pH conditions. The uranium sorption was not high at a low pH (e.g., pH 3), but increased with increasing pH. There were lower uranium sorption by the weathered biotites than by the fresh ones, and the difference was much larger at higher pH (e.g., pH 11). The lower sorption values of uranium by the weathered biotites may be caused by a change of mineral surfaces and a chemical behavior of surrounding dissolved elements. It seems that the uranium-mineral interaction has been diminished, especially, in the weathered biotite by a destruction and dissolution of preferential sorption sites on the mineral surfaces and by the colloidal formation from dissolved elements.
This study was designed to investigate the effects KH-204 on erectile dysfunction in hyperlipidemic rat. KH-204 has been evaluated antihyperlipidemic and antierectile dysfunction effects on experimental hyperlipidemic rats induced by high fat diet. After oral administration of the water extract KH-204 (50, 100, 200, 300 mg/kg) to hyperlipidemic rats for 8 weeks, the variables including body weight, total cholesterol, HDL and LDL levels in serum, the expression of eNOS and nNOS in penis were measured. And erectile function was determined by measurement of intracavernosal pressure (ICP) and maximal arterial pressure (MAP) after electrical stimulation of the cavernosal nerve. Oral administration of KH-204 significantly inhibited the increases of serum total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol levels and the decreased of serum HDL-cholesterol levels in hyperlipidemic rats induced by high fat diet. The penile expression level of the two enzyme (eNOS, nNOS) were increased significantly after oral administration of the KH-204 50 mg/kg. Erectile function after 10 volts stimulation was significantly decreased in the hyperlipidemic rat compared with the normal rat, but increased in KH-204 group compared with hyperlipidemic group. These results suggest that KH-204 is effective for erectile dysfunction in hyperlipidemia.
Fibrinolytic enzyme (FE-2) was purified from the fruiting bodies of Tricholoma saponaceum using DEAE-Cellulose chromatography and Mono-S column chromatography, The enzyme has a molecular weight of 18.23 kDa and include Zn$^{2+}$ ion as found by ICP/MS. The N-terminal amino acid sequence of the enzyme was A-L-Y-V-G-X-S-P-X-Q-Q-S-L-L-V It has a pH optimum at pH 7.5, suggested that FE-2 was a neutral pretense. The activity of FE-2 was highly inhibited by EDTA and 1,10-phenanthroline, indicating that the enzyme is a metalloprotease. The activity of FE-2 was increased by $Mg^{2+}$, Zn$^{2+}$, Fe$^{2+}$, and Co$^{2+}$, but the enzyme activity was totally inhibited by Hg$^{2+}$. No inhibition was found with PMSF, E-64, pepstatin and 2-mercaptoethanol. The enzyme hydrolyzed both $A\alpha$ and B$\beta$ chains of human fibrinogen. The $\gamma$ chain was resistant to hydrolysis by FE-2.

Background: As new legislation has come into force implementing radiation safety management for the use of naturally occurring radioactive materials (NORM), it is necessary to establish a rapid and accurate measurement technique. Measurement of $^{238}U$ and $^{232}Th$ using conventional methods encounter the most significant difficulties for pretreatment (e.g., purification, speciation, and dilution/enrichment) or require time-consuming processes. Therefore, in this study, the applicability of ED-XRF as a non-destructive and rapid screening method was validated for raw materials and by-product samples. Materials and Methods: A series of experiments was conducted to test the applicability for rapid screening of XRF measurement to determine activity of $^{238}U$ and $^{232}Th$ based on certified reference materials (e.g., soil, rock, phosphorus rock, bauxite, zircon, and coal ash) and NORM samples commercially used in Korea. Statistical methods were used to compare the analytical results of ED-XRF to those of certified values of certified reference materials (CRM) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Results and Discussion: Results of the XRF measurement for $^{238}U$ and $^{232}Th$ showed under 20% relative error and standard deviation. The results of the U-test were statistically significant except for the case of U in coal fly ash samples. In addition, analytical results of $^{238}U$ and $^{232}Th$ in the raw material and by-product samples using XRF and the analytical results of those using ICP-MS ($R^2{\geq}0.95$) were consistent with each other. Thus, the analytical results rapidly derived using ED-XRF were fairly reliable. Conclusion: Based on the validation results, it can be concluded that the ED-XRF analysis may be applied to rapid screening of radioactivities ($^{238}U$ and $^{232}Th$) in NORM samples.
Yellow sand (YS) storms were observed about ten times in the Korean peninsula during March and April in 2002. Twenty four hour fine particle (PM$\_$2.5/) samples were collected onto the 47 mm Teflon - coated quartz filters over 9 days during and after the events using the MiniVol Portable Air Sampler at a flow rate of 5 liters per minute. The highest PM$\_$2.5/ concentration measured during the YS period was 289 $\mu\textrm{g}$/㎥, which is 13 times higher than the lowest of the values for the samples collected during the non-yellow sand period. The filter samples were analyzed for inorganic ions using the IC, AAS and Autoanalyzer, and for metals using the ICP-MS. The results showed that the concentrations of some inorganic ions (e.g., Ca$\^$2+/ and SO$_4$$\^$2-/) and metals (e.g., Fe, Mn) of soil origin were elevated during the yellow sand events.

SBT thin films were etched at different content of Cl$_2$in Cl$_2$/Ar plasma. We obtained the maximum etch rate of 883 ${\AA}$/min at Cl$_2$(20%)/Ar(80%). As Cl$_2$ gas increased in Cl$_2$/Ar plasma, the etch rate decreased. The maximum etch rate may be explained by variation of volume density for Cl atoms and by the concurrence of two etching mechanisms such as physical sputtering and chemical reaction with formation of low-volatile products, which can be desorbed only by ion bombardment. The variation of volume density for Cl, F and Ar atoms and ion current density were measured by the optical emission spectroscopy and Langmuir probe. To evaluate the physical damage due to plasma, X-ray diffraction and atomic force microscopy analysis carried out. After etching process, P-E hysteresis loops were measured by ferroelectric workstation.
In this paper the emission properties of electrodeless fluorescent lamp were discussed using the inductively coupled plasma. To transmit the electromagnetic energy into the chamber a RF power of 13.56MHz was appied to the antenna and considering the Ar gas pressure and the RF electric power change, the emission spectrum, Ar-I line, luminance were investigated. At this time the input parameter for ICP RF plasma, Ar gas pressure and RF power were applied in the range of 10${\sim}$60m Torr, 10${\sim}$300W respectively.
It is of importance that all countries in worldwide, including EU and China, have adopted the Restrictions on the use of certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS) for all electronics. IEC62321 document, which was published by the International Electronics Committee (IEC) can have conflicts with the standards in the market. On the contrary Publicly Accessible Specification (PAS) for sampling published by IEC TC111 can be adopted for complementary application. In this work, we tried to find a route to disassemble and disjoint cellular phone sample, based on PAS and compare the screening methods available in the market. For this work, the cellular phone produced in 2001, before the regulation was born, was chosen for better detection. Although X-ray Fluorescence (XRF) showed excellent performance for screening, fast and easy handling, it can give information on the surface, not the bulk, and have some limitations due to significant matrix interference and lack of variety of standards for quantification. It means that screening with XRF sometimes requires supplementary tool. There are several techniques available in the market of analytical instruments. Laser ablation (LA) ICP-MS, energy dispersive (ED) XRF and scanning electron microscope (SEM)-energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) were demonstrated for screening a cellular phone. For quantitative determination, graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GF-AAS) was employed. Experimental results for Pb in a battery showed large difference in analytical results in between XRF and GF-AAS, i.e., 0.92% and 5.67%, respectively. In addition, the standard deviation of XRF was extremely large in the range of 23-168%, compared with that in the range of 1.9-92.3% for LA-ICP-MS. In conclusion, GF-AAS was required for quantitative analysis although EDX was used for screening. In this work, it was proved that LA-ICP-MS can be used as a screening method for fast analysis to determine hazardous elements in electrical products.
