  • A linearly polarized folded type and H-shape slit folded type microstrip patch antenna at GPS(center frequency:1.575 GHz) were designed and fabricated by folding a conventional single $\lambda_{g}/2(\lambda_{g}:wavelength)$ rectangular patch a half along the length direction at the center of patch and inserting ground plane in the middle. As a result, two types of omnidirectional radiation patterns for E-plane (for zx-plane) in the direction of the length of patch and H-plane (for xy-plane) have been acquired. The experimental results show that the average gains of folded type and slit folded type for omnidirectional E-plane and H-plane are -1.5 dBd (-2.4 dBd) and -3.27 dBd(-2.5 dBd). Slit folded type microstrip patch antenna was more miniaturized than folded type microstrip patch antenna by 27.5 %. In case of slit folded type antenna, average gains of omnidirectional radiation pattern for E & H-plane are almost same.

  • The effect of substrate size on the radiation characteristics of an H-plane 5-elements linear array antenna with an aperture coupled microstrip patch antenna (ACMPA) as unit element is investigated. The distance between the patch center and the substrate edge on the E-plane ($d_E$) and that on the H-plane ($d_H$) at which the maximum broadside gain of an H-plane 5-elements linear array antenna occurs are the same to those of single ACMPA using a unit element. Besides, $d_E$ and $d_H$ at which the minimum broadside gain of an H-plane 5-elements linear array antenna occurs are almost the same to those of single ACMPA using a unit element. The edge effect on the radiation characteristics of an H-plane 5-elements linear array antenna is mainly determined by $d_E$. The optimum substrate size for the radiation characteristics of an H-plane linear array antenna could be obtained from that of single ACMPA using a unit element of an H-plane linear array antenna.

  • In this paper, a compact partial H-plane filter with periodic structure is proposed. Guided wavelength of periodic structure' is reduced by slow wave effect. Cross-section and length of partial H-plane filter with periodic structure are considerably reduced by 75% and 30%, respectively, as compared with conventional E-plane filter. In addition, spurious responses of the bandpass filter are improved. To design bandpass filter with periodic structure, we have analyzed a periodic structure of partial H-plane waveguide and derived equations of the periodic filter. Measured results are in good agreement with simulated results.

  • In this study, we discuss about the printed reflectarray antenna design for parabolic reflector volume reduction. For this, we simulated and measured the phase characteristics of the unit array element of reflectarray antenna using waveguide simulator. As a results, the maximum phase variation is $298^{\circ}$ by simulation, the average phase variation is $309^{\circ}$ by measurement in 10GHz. And the printed Reflectarray antenna gain is 28.3dBi, 3dB beamwidth is E-plane $5.1^{\circ}$, H-plane $5.2^{\circ}$, sidelobe level is E-plane -11.4dB, H-plane -17.6dB.

  • This paper presents a study on the radiation characteristics of low-VHF band electrically small antenna for direction finding. Firstly, it is simulated the antenna for mounting on flat ground and tank model(in 40MHz), and measured for mounting 1/10 scaled model(in 400 MHz). In case of flat ground feed at ${\phi}=0^{\circ}$, $180^{\circ}$(xz-plane), yz-plane $E_{\phi}$ (H-plane) and xz-plane $E_{\theta}$ (E-plane) radiation patterns are hemispheric omni-direction due to effect of narrow ground side. Then, in case of tank model, it is shown equally in case of the flat ground, yz-plane $E_{\phi}$ (H-plane) and xz-plane $E_{\theta}$ (E-plane) radiation patterns are hemispheric omni-direction nearly without effect of mounting position. Therefore, the suggested electrically small antenna for direction finding, in case of mounting on ground narrow side xz-plane(E-plane), is shown more stable radiation patterns as direction finding antenna.

  • The effect of a finite substrate on the radiation characteristics of a linear 7-element array antenna positioned along the E-plane is investigated. Active reflection coefficients and average active element patterns are simulated for various substrate sizes. The E-plane radiation pattern of a fully excited array for various scan angles is correlated with the active reflection coefficient and average acitive element pattern. The effect of E-plane substrate size on the radiation characteristics of a linear array along the E-plane is larger than that of H-plane substarte size.

  • In this paper, an AccessPoint compact microstrip patch antenna was designed by using L-shaped feeding structure of a Fractal Structure and the compact antenna can be obtained by the rare formed presence of the resonance flow which is called "Crossed-Diagonal". CST's MicroWave5.0 was used for the design. As the operating characteristics of the patch antenna, it showed the characteristic of 1031 [MHz] or 29.4% in the range of 3.202 [GHz] ~ 4.233 [GHz] when an input return loss is less -10 [dB] and VSWR 2:1, also as it is in this paper, we got simulation results such as, gains of the E-plane and H-plane are 8.7 [dBi] and 8.6 [dBi] for this is the single patch, and 3 [dB] beamwidth is $43.9^{\circ}$ at E-plane and $78.7^{\circ}$ at H-plane.

  • We review the algebraic structure of $\mathbb{H}{\sharp}$ and show that $\mathbb{H}{\sharp}$ has a scalar product that allows as to identify it with semi Euclidean ${\mathbb{E}}^4_2$. We show that a pair q and p of unit split quaternions in $\mathbb{H}{\sharp}$ determines a rotation $R_{qp}:\mathbb{H}{\sharp}{\rightarrow}\mathbb{H}{\sharp}$. Moreover, we prove that $R_{qp}$ is a product of rotations in a pair of orthogonal planes in ${\mathbb{E}}^4_2$. To do that we call upon one tool from the theory of second ordinary differential equations.

  • An H-sector horn antenna has a constant beam coverage characteristic and it can be useful for application to a wide band phased array antenna system. In this paper, we designed a broadband E-plane H-sector horn phased-array antenna, which has a 3:1 bandwidth and ${\pm}60^{\circ}$ beam steering capability. An H-sector hem antenna was designed to have $30{\sim}50^{\circ}$ half-power beam width in the principal H-plane. The active reflection coefficient including mutual coupling was calculated using a waveguide simulator, and the active reflection characteristic was improved by mutual coupling over wide frequency range. Using these results, an $8{\times}1$ H-sector phased array antenna was fabricated. The measurement results for the half-power beam width in the principal H-plane and the active reflection coefficient showed a good agreement with the simulation results. The peak-value pattern in the steered radiation beams also agreed well with the active element pattern. The measured active reflection coefficients within the beam steering range are mostly less than 0.3 over the 3:1 frequency range.

  • Let (H, g) denote the upper half plane in $R^2$ with the Riemannian metric g := ($(dx)^2$ + $(dy)^2$)$/y^2$. First of all we get a necessary and sufficient condition for a diffeomorphism $\phi$ of (H, g) to be a harmonic map. And, we obtain the fact that if a diffeomorphism $\phi$ of (H, g) is a harmonic function, then the following facts are equivalent: (1) $\phi$ is a harmonic map; (2) $\phi$ is an affine transformation; (3) $\phi$ is an isometry (motion).
