A Robust Control System Design for Compensating Hysteresis of a Piezoelectric Actuator-based Actuation Unit (압전 소자 기반 구동 유닛의 히스테리시스 보상 강인 제어기 설계)

  • In this paper, we presents a robust control system design for compensating hysteresis of a piezoelectric actuator-based actuation unit. First, the dynamics between the input voltage and the output displacement of the actuation unit are unravelled via a non-parametric system identification method. From the dynamic characteristics of those experimental transfer functions, a parametric model is then derived, whose dynamics match those of the non-parametric ones under various conditions on input voltages. A robust controller is constructed on the basis of this parametric model in order not only to effectively compensate the hysteresis of the actuation unit but also to guarantee the robust stability. Extensive experiments show that the proposed robust control system successfully mitigate the effect of the hysteresis and improve the tracking capability of the actuation unit.

  • FACTS(Flexible AC Transmission System) 기기들은 전력계통의 경제적이고 안정적인 운용과 제어에 더 많은 유연성을 제공할 수 있다. 그러나 이러한 FACTS 기기들은 기존의 전력 계통 설비들과는 달리 그 특성이 매우 비선형적이고 복잡하기 때문에 기존 전력 계통의 동적 시뮬레이션 알고리즘에 적용시키는 것이 매우 어렵다. 이러한 어려움을 해결하기 위하여 전압원 인버터(Voltage Sourced Inverter) 형태의 FACTS 기기를 병렬 형태로 주입되는 전류로 등가화 하여 기존의 시뮬레이션 알고리즘에 적용하는 방법이 제안되었다. 본 논문에서는 이 전류 주입형 기법을 이용하여 다수의 FACTS 기기들이 설치된 계통의 동적 안정도 해석 방법을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 서로 다른 형태의 FACTS 기기들이 설치된 경우에도 적용될 수 있으며 이를 이용하여 서로 다른 FACTS 모델들 간의 조합에 의한 계통의 안정도 변화를 사례연구를 통하여 보일 것이다.

  • A new low-temperature poly-Si TFT employing a counter-doped lateral body terminal is proposed and fabricated, in order to enhance the stability of poly-Si TFT driving circuits. The LBT structure effectively suppresses the kink effect by collecting the counter-polarity carriers and suppresses the hot carrier effect by reducing the peak lateral field at the drain junction. The proposed device is immune to dynamic stress, so that it is suitable for low voltage and high speed driving circuits of AMLCD.

  • This paper analyzes the steady-state and dynamic characteristics of the watkings-johnson converter. the major contributions of this paper includ identification of the following characteristics unique to the watkins-johnson converter: (1) The output voltage of the converter is nearly constant at the continous conduction mode (CCM), and at discontinousou conduction mode (DCM) it decreses linerly as the output curretn increases. (2) The control-to-output transfer function is a second-order one with a left-half-plane (LHP) zero determined by the combination of the output capacitor and equivalent series resistor of the converter. This LHP zero signinificantly improves the stability of the converter. (3) The control-to-output transfer function reduces to a first-order one, as the converter moves from CCM to DCM. (4) The parastic resistance of the inductor does not cause any significant influence on poles and zeros of the transfer function.

  • This paper presents a new aggregation method of induction motors for the load flow and transient stability analysis. The proposed method aggregates a group of motors into a single motor considering the variations of the system voltage and frequency so that the aggregated model represents the dynamic characteristics of the system accurately. The performance of the Method is shown by numerical simulation and is compared with that of LOADSYN algorithm.

  • There are no turn-on losses in the series Resonant Converter which operates above the resonance frequency, and the commutation stress on the switched component is low. For a given Series Resonant Converter with specified load resistance, the output voltage is a function of the operation frequency. This paper describes the static and dynamic characteristic analysis of the Series Resonant DC to DC Converter, which is operating above the resonant frequency, with frequency control. For the analysis method, state plane technique is adopted, and the circuit operation is defined from normalized switching frequency, Fsn. Under this condition, circuit performance is analyzed ideally. The validity of the proposed analysis is verified by comparing with experimental results, the stability of the converter is confirmed against small variations around the operating point by conventional frequency domain analysis, and the stress quantity added to switch component is shown.

  • The air gap between electromagnet and guiderail in an EMS-type Maglev vehicle must be maintained within an allowable deviation by controlling the voltage on the magnet. In this type of vehicle, the air gap response is strongly dependent on the structural characteristics of the elevated guideway, such as stiffness, damping and mass. For this reason, the dynamic interaction between the vehicle with electromagnets and the elevated guideway must be understood to ensure safe running. The response of the air gap to guideway characteristics such as mass, stiffness, and damping are analyzed through vehicle tests over different guideways. Through such tests, the design requirements for Maglev vehicles and elevated guideways can be established, improving levitation stability.

  • This paper describes the implementation of a Storage Power Flow Controller (SPFC) connected to the grid which can provide concomitant benefits associated with a Unified Power Flow Controller while at the same time providing several other very important benefits to power system operation such as, load leveling dynamic voltage stability inprovement, harmonic compensation and power factor correction. This Storage power Flow Controller (SPFC) was implemented using real time signal processors, three-phase inverter(s) and battery bank which can provide improved power system operation and control, added system security and reduced power system losses.

Wide Speed Direct Torque and Flux Controlled IPM Synchronous Motor Drive Using a Combined Adaptive Sliding Mode Observer and HF Signal Injection

  • This paper proposes a new speed sensorless direct torque and flux controlled interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) drive. Closed-loop control of both the torque and stator flux linkage are achieved by using two proportional-integral (PI) controllers. The reference voltage vectors are generated by a SVM unit. The drive uses an adaptive sliding mode observer for joint stator flux and rotor speed estimation. Global asymptotic stability of the observer is achieved via Lyapunov analysis. At low speeds, the observer is combined with the high frequency signal injection technique for stable operation down to standstill. Hence, the sensorless drive is capable of exhibiting high dynamic and steady-state performances over a wide speed range. The operating range of the direct torque and flux controlled (DTFC) drive is extended into the high speed region by incorporating field weakening. Experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • This paper evaluates FACTS control on the available transfer capability (ATC) enhancement. Technical merits of FACTS technology on boosting ATC are analyzed. More effective control means for line flow and bus voltage require the application of FACTS. In this paper, the power flow calculation method for the power systems with FACTS is based on the current injection model (CIM) and the Newton-Raphson method. An integrated scheme for ATC calculation, which considers the dynamic characteristic of the power system, is suggested. The study is applied to the IEEE 57-bus power system to demonstrate the effectiveness of FACTS control on ATC enhancement.
