  • The database for driving patterns can be utilized in various system such as automatic driving system, driver safety system, and it can be helpful to monitor driving style. Therefore, we propose a driving pattern recognition system in which the sensor streams from a smartphone are recorded and used for recognizing driving events. In this paper we focus on the driving pattern recognition that is an essential and preliminary step of driving style recognition. We divide input sensor streams into 7 driving patterns such as, Left-turn(L), U-turn(U), Right-turn(R), Rapid-Braking(RB), Quick-Start(QS), Rapid-Acceleration (RA), Speed-Bump(SB). To classify driving patterns, first, a preprocessing step for data smoothing is followed by an event detection step. Last the detected events are classified by DTW(Dynamic Time Warping) algorithm. For assisting drivers we provide the classified pattern with the corresponding video stream which is recorded with its sensor stream. The proposed system will play an essential role in the safety driving system or driving monitoring system.

  • In this paper, we suggest a efficient handwritten character verification method in on-line environments which automatically analyses two input character string and computes their similarity degrees. The proposed algorithm first applies the circular projection method to input handwritten strings and extracts their representative features including shape, directions, etc. It then calculates the similarity between two character strings by using an improved dynamic time warping (DTW) algorithm. We improved the conventional DTW algorithm efficiently through adopting the branch-and-bound policy to the existing DTW algorithm which is well-known to produce good results in the various optimization problems. The experimental results to verify the performance of the proposed system show that the suggested handwritten character verification method operates more efficiently than the existing DTW and DDTW algorithms in terms of the speed.

  • FsGr model, which has been proposed recently, is an approach of accelerometer-based gesture recognition by applying DTW algorithm in two steps, which improved recognition success rate. In FsGr model, sets of similar gestures will be produced through training phase, in order to define the notion of a set of similar gestures. At the 1st attempt of gesture recognition, if the result turns out to belong to a set of similar gestures, it makes the 2nd recognition attempt to feature-strengthened parts extracted from the set of similar gestures. However, since a same gesture show drastically different characteristics according to physical traits such as body size, age, and sex, FsGr model may not be good enough to apply to multi-user environments. In this paper, we propose FsGrM model that extends FsGr model for multi-user environment and present a program which controls channel and volume of smart TV using FsGrM model.

  • Success of semiconductor/LCD industry depends on its yield and quality of product. For the purpose, FDC (Fault Detection and Classification) system is used to diagnose fault state in main manufacturing processes by monitoring time series data collected by equipment sensors which represent various conditions of the equipment. The data set is segmented at the start and end of each product lot processing by a trigger event module. However, in practice, segmented sensor data usually have the features of data asynchronization such as different start points, end points, and data lengths. Due to the asynchronization problem, false alarm (type I error) and missed alarm (type II error) occur frequently. In this paper, we propose a robust process fault detection system by integrating a process event detection method and a similarity measuring method based on dynamic time warping algorithm. An experiment shows that the proposed system is able to recognize abnormal condition correctly under the asynchronous data situation.

  • For an efficient management of electricity market and power systems, accurate forecasts for electricity demand are essential. Since there are many factors, either known or unknown, determining the realized loads, it is difficult to forecast the demands with the past time series only. In this paper we perform a cluster analysis on electricity demand data collected from Jan. 2000 to Dec. 2017. Our purpose of clustering on electricity demand data is that each cluster is expected to consist of data whose latent variables are same or similar values. Then, if properly clustered, it is possible to develop an accurate forecasting model for each cluster separately. To validate the feasibility of this approach for building better forecasting models, we clustered data with t-SNE. To apply t-SNE to time series data effectively, we adopt the dynamic time warping as a similarity measure. From the result of experiments, we found that several clusters are well observed and each cluster can be interpreted as a mix of well-known factors such as trends, seasonality and holiday effects and other unknown factors. These findings can motivate the approaches which build forecasting models with respect to each cluster independently.

  • This paper proposes a new data correction technique that transforms anomalies in time series data into normal values. With the recent development of IT technology, a vast amount of time-series data is being collected through sensors. However, due to sensor failures and abnormal environments, most of time-series data contain a lot of anomalies. If we build a predictive model using original data containing anomalies as it is, we cannot expect highly reliable predictive performance. Therefore, we utilizes the LSTM-GAN model to detect anomalies in the original time series data, and combines DTW (Dynamic Time Warping) and GAN techniques to replace the anomaly data with normal data in partitioned window units. The basic idea is to construct a GAN model serially by applying the statistical information of the window with normal distribution data adjacent to the window containing the detected anomalies to the DTW so as to generate normal time-series data. Through experiments using open NAB data, we empirically prove that our proposed method outperforms the conventional two correction methods.

  • This study proposed a new approach to develop an Intelligent control algorithm for cooperative working of human and robot based on voice recognition. In general case of speaker verification, Gaussian Mixture Model is used to model the feature vectors of reference speech signals. On the other hand, Dynamic Time Warping based template matching techniques were presented for the voice recognition about several years ago. We converge these two different concepts in a single method and then implement in a real time voice recognition enough to make reference model to satisfy 95% of recognition performance. In this paper it was illustrated the reliability of voice recognition by simulation and experiments for humanoid robot with 18 joints.

  • This paper presents the text-prompt method to overcome the weakness of text-dependent and text-independent speaker recognition. Enhanced dynamic time warping for speaker recognition algorithm is applied. For the real-time processing, we use a simple algorithm for end-point detection without increasing computational complexity. The test shows that the weighted-cepstrum is most proper for speaker recognition among various speech parameters. As the experimental results of the proposed algorithm for three prompt words, the speaker identification error rate is 0.02%, and when the threshold is set properly, false rejection rate is 1.89%, false acceptance rate is 0.77% and verification total error rate is 0.97% for speaker verification.
