In this study, reuse of biologically treated wastewater of denim washing and dyeing industry has been evaluated by membrane technologies. After that experiments were carried out at laboratory scale in textile dyeing unit by using obtained permeate water samples on 100% cotton based raw fabric belonging to examined industry. During membrane experiments, two different UF (UC100 and UC030) and two different NF (NP010 and NP030) were evaluated under alternative membrane pressures. In permeate water obtained on selected samples, conductivity at the range of $1860-2205{\mu}S/cm$, hardness at the range of 60 to 80 mg/L, total color at the range of 2.4 to 7.6 m-1 and COD at the range of 25-32 mg/L was determined. The following analyzes were performed for the dyed fabrics: perspiration fastness, rub fastness, wash fastness, color fastness to water, color fastness to artificial light, color measurement through the fabric. According to analysis results, selected permeate water have no negative impact on dyeing quality. The study showed that membrane filtration gave good performance for biologically treated textile wastewater, and NF treatment with UF pre-treatment was suitable option for reuse of the effluents.
In this study, ozone oxidation experiment was carried out for the removal of fluorescent whitening agent which is widely used in textile dyeing and paper industry. The stilbene fluorescent whitening agent has been industrialized since the earliest, and the amount of current production is the highest. Due to the characteristics of the fluorescent whitening agent that can not be removed by conventional wastewater treatment methods, the fluorescent whitening agent in wastewater treatment has difficulty in using as recycled water in the process. Pre-treatment ozone oxidation experiment was conducted prior to the introduction of Membrane Bio Reactor(MBR) treatment process by converting biodegradable materials into biodegradable materials. The removal efficiencies of fluorescent whitening agents, a diaminostilbenedisulfonic acid derivative by ozone oxidation were evaluated by $UV_{254}$ Scan, $COD_{Mn}$, T-N and color using a synthetic wastewater sample ($COD_{Mn}=433.0mg/{\ell}$) and paper and paper mill wastewater ($COD_{Mn}=157.2mg/{\ell}$).

The main purpose of this work is to investigate the performance of membranes for treatment of dyeing wastewater. The microfiltration (MF) membranes (titania-blended polysulfone & alumina) were prepared. The nanofiltration (NF) and reverse osmosis (RO) membranes were kindly supplied by the Sae-Han. In order to reuse the wastewater for dyeing, the effluents were treated by the high flux RO and the fouling resistant RO (FRM) membranes. Also, the NF membrane was used for water reuse in rinsing.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the degradation of PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) contained in dyeing wastewater by a mixed culture of Microbacterium barkeri KCCM 10507 and Paenibacillus amylolyticus KCCM 10508. Firstly, synthetic wastewater which contained different initial concentrations of PVA varying from 50 to 3,500 mg/l were tested to obtain optimal PVA biodegradation activity of isolated strains, and the above two strains were found to degrade PVA up to 90%, when the initial concentration of PVA was 750 mg/l and below. Next, dyeing wastewater was tested by a nixed culture of the two isolated strains, and 42% and 55% of the initial concentrations of PVA and COD, respectively, was removed after five days. MLSS was gradually increased from an initial 1,400 to 2,500 mg/l, and the pH was also increased from 5.1 to 7.8. Sterilized dyeing wastewater was tested to find the effect of strains only on the biodegradation of PVA, and PVA degradation ratio and COD removal ratio were 50% and 72.8%, respectively. Thus, the results indicated that these two strains have good ability to degrade PVA and remove COD in dyeing wastewater, Finally, it is expected that if these two strains were used in the dyeing wastewater treatment, good efficiency for PVA degradation and COD removal could be achieved.

In spite of various applications of chitin derivatives from waste marine sources, commercial use of chitin has been limited due to resistance to chemicals and the absense of proper solvents. We prepared chitin through decalcification, bleaching and deproteination from protunus trituberculatus shells by the application of Hackman's method. Structural and chemical properties of chitin were investigated to have proper specific surface area and particle size by IR, BET and PSA. The amount of absorbed water of chitin reached equilibrium by stirring about 15 minutes. The amount of absored water of the prepared chitin were large than the commercial chitin. When prepared chitin tested on dyeing wastewater, they showed better treatment efficiency in COD, suspended solid, and color tests than the commercial chitin. The adsorption capacity increased with decreasing particle size for the prepared chitin. Treatment efficiency for color was increased as the sitirring rate increased. Results show the possibility of the prepared chitin from waste marine sources as a treatment system for dyeing wastewater.
The main objectives of this study are develop an Electro-Chemical process for dyeing wastewater treatment. In this work, We are investigated to optimization of electro-chemical process condition such as pH, additives(NaCl), reaction time, current density. As a result, About 89% of color(influent 452.5 ptco. unit) was removed by Electro-Chemical process using type C $SnO_2$ electrode. This results are promising potential for dyeing wastewater treatment.
The changes of conventional clarification process and an increase in treatment cost are required to meet increasingly stringent regulations related to the treated water quality. Although many enhanced coagulations have introduced to improve organic matter removal, the results to remove color, nitrogen and phosphorus as well as organic material have not been very efficient yet. The removal of waste matters such as SS, organic matter, color and turbidity contained in dyeing wastewater was carried out by using the combination of calcium hydroxide and magnesium sulfate. The flocculation was investigated as a function of coagulant dose, pH, mixing time, settling time and coagulant addition modes such as the sequential addition of the two coagulants and the simultaneous addition of them. The flocculation by the combination of calcium hydroxide and magnesium sulfate was compared with that by aluminum sulfate. The mechanism of flocculation was investigated as well. About 84% of color in dyeing watewater was removed by flocculation with combination of calcium hydroxide and magnesium sulfate.
For the effective treatment of dyeing-complex wastewater, the most effective chemical coagulation method was studied. For the chemical coagulation of dyeing-complex wastewater, polyferric sulfate, $4Al_2(SO_4)_3$, PAC, ferrous sulfate, ferric sulfate, $FeCl_2$ and lime were used. It was investigated that polyferric sulfate was the most efficient coagulant. The optimal conditions and results for polyferric sulfate include the followings. When initial $COD_{Mn}$ concentration was 600mg/L, the optimal initial pH, dosage of coagulant, dosage of lime and PAA for $COD_{Mn}$ removal efficiency were 5, 1,200mg/L, 500mg/L and lmg/L, respectively. The optimal dosage of polyferric sulfate was increased proportionally to the influent $COD_{Mn}$ concentration.
This study deals with an investigation on low cost adsorbents locally available n dyeing wastewater treatment of color removal. Peat, bentonite, slag and fly ash were utilized for this study. Considering that low cost adsorbents contained in $SiO_2$, $Fe_2O_3$ and $Al_2O_3$ compositions, and coagulants were mainly used aluminate and ferrate in color removal. Color of dyeing wastewater was high removed in peat, berntonite and slag except for fly ash with passed time. It could be known that color removal of peat and slag were increased to pH 4, but was hardly changed with advancing to alkaline. Color intended to be high removed with increasing of agitation speed but to be almost slow after 150rpm. As a result on the experiment of Freundlich adsorption isotherms, adsorption intensity(l/n) appeared to be peat>fly ash>slag>bentonite and adsorption capacity(k) came out peat>bentonite>slag>fly ash. Therefore, if low cost adsorbents substituted for existing adsorbents, peat, bentonite and slag could look forward to an expected economical effect.
