  • The purpose of this study is to explore parental strain, mastery, sex role attitude and dyadic adjustment after the transition to parenthood in dual earner family. Using couple data from a sample of 284 dual earner couple, pair t-test, multiple regression analysis, one was ANOVA was used. Major findings were as follows. 1) There were differences between wives and husbands in dyadic adjustment, physical strain, mastery, sex role attitude. Specially, couples experience more emotional strain than physical strain, and wives experience more parental strain than husbands. 2) Couple's parental strain is considered personal attribution rather than family one, but mastery is different. 3) Couple's psychological variables have an effect on the dyadic adjustment sores, especially husband's sex role attitude influences own dyadic adjustment and wife's dyadic adjustment. Wife's mastery also own dyadic adjustment and husband's dyadic adujstment.

  • In this paper, certain scaling functions are generated using the dyadic subband tree structure and applied to a time-hopping, pulse position modulation, ultra-wideband (TH-PPM UWB) system. Scaling functions can be obtained by iterating a lowpass filter at each level using a critically sampled dyadic tree. The performance of the TH-PPM UWB system employing scaling functions as the mono-cycle waveform is evaluated through computer simulations in a Rayleigh fading environment.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate effects of maladaptive personality (borderline personality, narcissistic personality, and dependent personality) and conflict behavior on marital adjustment(dyadic satisfaction, dyadic consensus, dyadic cohesion, and affectional expression) among married women. Subjects in this study were 725 married women who lived in Cheong-buk, in Gyeonggi province, Korea. Data were analyzed by the methods of frequency, percentage, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, and factor analysis, Pearson's correlation, and hierarchical regression using SPSS-WIN version 12.0. The results of this study were as follows: 1) the less borderline personality was perceived, the more narcissistic personality was perceived, In addition, a greater perceived amount of destructive conflict behavior of wives was linked to highdyadic satisfaction in the wives'. Wives' destructive conflict- behavior was the most important parameter to predict dyadic satisfaction. 2) The less borderline personality was perceived, the less dependent personality was perceived, while the more narcissistic personality was perceived, the more destructive conflict behavior of husbands was perceived, with the, wives' incidence of dyadic consensus appearing high. Husbands' destructive conflict behavior was the most important parameter to predict a dyadic consensus. 3) The less borderline personality was perceived, the more narcissistic personality was perceived, In addition, more destructive conflict behavior of the husbands was linked to highdyadic cohesion in the wives'. Husbands' destructive conflict behavior was the most important to predict dyadic cohesion relatively. 4) The more destructive conflict behavior of wives was perceived, the higher the wives' affectional expression appeared. The wives' destructive conflict behavior was the most important parameter to predict affectional expression.

  • This study investigated a path model in which men's and women's communication behavior escalating marital conflict (CBEMC) may be influenced directly and indirectly, via negative interpretations of their spouse, by their spouse's problem behavior, the couple's turning toward bids, and dyadic perspective-taking. Self-report data were collected from 498 married men and women who were living in Busan, Korea. Multiple-group analysis revealed that the path model was not equivalent for men and women. Their couple's turning toward bids and dyadic perspective-taking for men, and their spouse's problem behavior and dyadic perspective-taking for women, had direct effects on CBEMC. Further, their spouse's problem behavior and the couple's turning toward bids had indirect effects on CBEMC through negative interpretations in both men and women. The indirect effect of dyadic perspective-taking on CBEMC was significant only for men. Finally, considering total effects, dyadic perspective-taking was the strongest predictor of CBEMC for both genders.

  • In the spectral analysis, Fourier coeffcients are very important to give informations for the original signal f on a finite domain, because they recover f. Also Fourier analysis has extension to wavelet analysis for the whole space R. Various kinds of reconstruction theorems are main subject to analyze signal function f in the field of wavelet analysis. In this paper, we will present a new reconstruction theorem of functions in $L^1(R)$ using a nonharmonic Fourier series. When we construct this series, we have used dyadic subdivision schemes.

  • Different from general operating policies applied for various waiting line situations, two complementary dyadic operating policies are applied alternatingly to a single server maintenance service center model. That is, either of the two dyadic Min (N, T) or Max (N, T) policy is applied to operate such center first and the other operating policy should be applied later, and then the same sequence of both operating policies is followed repeatedly. This operating policy is denoted by the Minimax (N, T) policy. Purpose: Because of the newly introduced operating policy, important system characteristics of the considered service center model such as the expected busy and idle periods, the expected number of customers in the service center and so on should be derived to provide necessary information for determination of the optimal operating policy. Methods: Based on concepts of the newly introduced Minimax (N, T) policy, all necessary system characteristics should be redefined and then derived by constructing appropriate relations between complementary two dyadic operating policies. Results: Desired system characteristics are obtained successfully using simple procedures developed by utilizing peculiar structure of the Minimax (N, T) policy. Conclusion: Applying Minimax (N, T) operating policy is equivalent to applying the simple N and T operating policies alternatingly.

  • The present study examined whether enjoyable couple activity and common dyadic coping as daily positive couple interactions have direct or indirect effects on marital satisfaction through the mediation of sexual intimacy among urban Chinese women in the early years of marriage. The subjects were 182 urban women born under the one-child policy, who live in Heilongjiang, Anhui and Beijing provinces of China, and have been married up to six years. Data were collected using a self-administered questionnaire. We conducted a hierarchical multiple regression analysis in SPSS software and tested the significance of the mediation effects using bootstrapping method in Mplus software. The results of the study are as follows. First, both enjoyable couple activity and common dyadic coping had positive direct impacts on urban Chinese women's marital satisfaction and positive indirect impacts on marital satisfaction via sexual intimacy. Second, enjoyable couple activity was the strongest predictor of marital satisfaction, followed by common dyadic coping and sexual intimacy. The path model explained 48% of the variance in marital satisfaction. The results suggest that enjoyable couple activity, common dyadic coping, and sexual intimacy should be considered in the design of interventions to enhance urban Chinese women's marital satisfaction in the early years of marriage.

  • This study investigated types of language during dyadic collaboration on 2 spatial perspective problems. Subjects were 3 groups of children consisting of 14 dyads each of boys and of girls paired by age and sex, totaling 168 6-, 8-, and 10-year-old children. The entire procedure was videotaped. Data were processed by t-test and one-way ANOVA. Older children used less ego-centric and more socialized speech than younger children. No age differences were found for degree of exploration without collaboration, quarreling, or nonabstract collaborative explanation. The 10-year-olds used more abstract collaborative explanation, primitive argument, and genuine argument than the 6-year-olds.
