  • On this research. The method of space analysis(Space syntax) is used to investigate the relation between composition and configuration in the houses of four modern architects. Space analysis represent that the houses permutate the morphological properties of depth and rings to embed domestic fuctions within the hoe and to interface household memgers. Two of the house are judged to be well composite but banal: The other appear more inventive in relation compositinal principles to space configuration, to create a measure of subtlety and richness in life style which is lacking in the examples where form is manipulated in the abstract. On this research. It is discoverd that Knowledge of both the internal laws of form and the social logic of space is required to generate the practical conjunction of formal rigour with fuctional ease which we recognise in the houses of architects.

The reason of this change is shown the following. 1. There is the dual structure that the villager repairs that because the repairing operation is biased the prototype restoration since the government construction. 2. The internal change is come from more at thatched house than at tiled house and the order of the main element's change is Kitchen (35%), main room (30%), living room (24%) and other rest room (11%). 3. The change of the dining room in the internal composition material is the strongest and the change is included in the using change, the installation of the new sub-division in the spot and the expansion of the outside if necessary. • Architecture is the product of a way of thinking. If the problems of architecture are to be traced to their roots, then attention needs to be focused on the thinking and considerations that inform its production. Adolf Loos occupies a truly exceptional place in the history of architecture. Adolf Loos's ideas and attitudes disagree with the notion that modernity is possible to develop a harmonious culture within the bounds of a modernizing society. Loos chronologically precedes the modern movement, but his ideas contain the seeds of what will be worked out later as a complex critique of the movement's notions about architecture and modernity. Loos holds the view that modernity provokes an inevitable rupture with tradition that has as a consequence the disintegration of one's experience of life. This evolution, he think, obliges architecture to display a number of languages corresponding to a multitude of different experiences. Through the discussion of Loos's opinions on dwelling and architecture, it explores the true features of position of Loos in modern architecture. Loos thinks that the rejection of the deliberate creation of a new style was a correct response to the diagnosis of life as being rootless and fragmented. Ornament is that which people use to attempt to relate different aspects of life and to join inner and outer worlds in a coherent whole. By getting rid of ornament the illusion is destroyed that a harmonious unity of this sort is still possible. One can only remain true to tradition if one acknowledges that its continuity is not an unbroken one. Dwelling can only be saved by separating it from other aspects of life.

  • The research was conducted to understand type of iron used by those who lived at dwelling site of Yangsoo-ri in between the first century B.C. and the first century A.D. to make steel products and their technique such as steel making process and heat treatment, based on micro structure information obtained through microscopic metallographic structure analysis with SEM-EDS of six steel productsexhumed at the site. Key findings are summarized as below. In the sense that Si-Ca-Al style and less than 0.5% of Ti were found in the non-metallic inclusion, the material used for forged iron ware was magnetite resolved in that. It is, however, unclear whether magnetite was resolved at high temperature or at low temperature. Microscopic structure analysis revealed that forged steel products were made through repeated hot working, the technique of molding by hitting after heating in the process of resolving and molding iron. As a result, the iron used here for the products was not the iron ore which was produced through resolution from discarded cast iron axe, ingot iron. It is probable that to make those steel products, disposed-of cast iron was reused after being molded by decarburizing. Although a few of relics were analyzed for the research, they were of critical importance in defining the process of ironware production from the first century B.C. and the first century A.D. at the Yangsoo-ri region. Judging from the iron from A-19 dwellingsite, it is possible to conclude that the iron was manufactured from cast iron decarburized and yet more research has to be done into relics yetto be exhumed in order to ascertain the finding. All of these findings are believed to play a critical role in further studies to define the steel-manufacturing technique used on the central Korean peninsular in the ancient times.

  • 'Hanok(韓屋)' is the settlement that our ancestors completed for our lives through multiple verifications. Thus, there exists our nation's identity and a variety of tangible and intangible cultural elements are included in that settlement. Even though the dwelling planning of Hanok has been introduced by the modern trends of traditional style, it can not present the type of various space compositions according to the area and living characteristics and it shows a disparity in our real life through the introduction of the traditional Hanok's elements which are not fit into contemporary housing without filtration. To solve these problems, it must need to study on cases based on the present situation of the Hanok and analysis on characteristics. For the Hanok to meet the development of modern residence, there needs to study on many fields such as plan, complex, structure, material. Among them, this study intends to present the preliminary data for the improvement of Hanok's effectiveness by understanding and analyzing the current situation focusing on the natural transformation of Hanok which are currently building in Milyang Area. Also, as the second step of this study, this study attempts to analyze based on the present situation of New Hanok in Kyeongnam province by expanding the range.

  • This study examined details and characteristics of prizewinning plans of housing competition promoted by korean architects group in 1946. The competition were held for the first since Liberation of Korea, and had practical purpose to construct houses to solve severe shortage of housing. This study found common trends of housing plan by prizewinning architects, analyzing architectural characteristics of prizewinning plans. Architects pursued western style living for renewed living conditions of people, planning precedent houses to put reception room at the heart of dwelling spaces and centralize them using entrance hall or corridor for traffic lines. Also, they arranged reception room and family room facing to the south and placed lavatory or bathroom inside of houses for hygiene. Kitchens were finished with wooden floor to keep same level of reception room and equipped with sink, kitchen table, pantry for convenient housekeeping. The result of competition become a basis of constructing houses by housing administration in 1947, and more important foundation for planning typical public houses of national housing corporation.
