ON THE TOPOLOGY OF THE DUAL SPACE OF CROSSED PRODUCT C*-ALGEBRAS WITH FINITE GROUPS

  • In this note we extend our previous result about the structure of the dual of a crossed product $C^*$-algebra $A{\rtimes}_{\sigma}G$, when G is a finite group. We consider the space $\tilde{\Gamma}$ which consists of pairs of irreducible representations of A and irreducible projective representations of subgroups of G. Our goal is to endow $\tilde{\Gamma}$ with a topology so that the orbit space e $G{\backslash}{\tilde{\Gamma}}$ is homeomorphic to the dual of $A{\rtimes}_{\sigma}G$. In particular, we will show that if $\widehat{A}$ is Hausdorff then $G{\backslash}{\tilde{\Gamma}}$ is homeomorphic to $\widehat{A{\rtimes}_{\sigma}G}$.

  • The inception of targeted agents has revolutionized the cancer therapy paradigm, both for physicians and patients. A large number of molecular targeted agents for cancer therapy are currently available for clinical use today. Many more are in making, but there are issues that remain to be resolved for the scientific as well as social community before the recommendation of their widespread use in may clinical scenarios can be done, one such issue being cost and cost effectiveness, others being resistance and lack of sustained efficacy. With the current knowledge about available targeted agents, the growing knowledge of intricate molecular pathways and unfolding of wider spectrum of molecular targets that can really matter in the disease control, calls for only the just use of the agents available now, drug companies need to make a serious attempt to reduce the cost of the agents. Research should focus on agents that show sustained responses in preclinical data. More needs to be done in laboratories and by the pharmaceutical industries, before we can truly claim to have entered a new era of targeted therapy in cancer care.

  • 본 논문은 DC Common 방식의 Hybrid PCS (Power Conditioning System)의 해외 실증사례에 대해 서술하고 있다. 본 시스템은 계통, PV(Photovoltaic), BESS (Battery Energy Storage System)로 구성되어 있으며 UAE의 Dubai에 60kW급 2기, 200kW급 1기를 실증한 사례를 설명한다. 각 구성품 들의 사양과 Destin Power사 Hybrid PCS를 소개하고 사양을 서술하였으며 실제 운영을 통하여 제품의 신뢰성을 검증하였다.

Prophetic Medicine-Nigella Sativa (Black Cumin Seeds) - Potential Herb for COVID-19?

  • Coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) is caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS CoV-2). Currently, the management of patients with COVID-19 depends mainly on repurposed drugs which include chloroquine, hydroxychloroquine, lopinavir/ritonavir, ribavirin, remdesivir, favipiravir, umifenovir, interferon-α, interferon-β and others. In this review, the potential of Nigella sativa (black cumin seeds) to treat the patients with COVID-19 analyzed, as it has shown to possess antiviral, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticoagulant, immunomodulatory, bronchodilatory, antihistaminic, antitussive, antipyretic and analgesic activities. Medline/PubMed Central/PubMed, Google Scholar, Science Direct, Directory of open access journals (DOAJ) and reference lists were searched to identify articles associated with antiviral and other properties of N.sativa related to the signs and symptoms of COVID-19. Various randomized controlled trials, pilot studies, case reports and in vitro and in vivo studies confirmed that N.sativa has antiviral, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, bronchodilatory, antihistaminic, antitussive activities related to causative oraganism and signs and symptoms of COVID-19. N. sativa could be used as an adjuvant therapy along with repurposed conventional drugs to manage the patients with COVID-19.

  • Design of main and crescent bridges in Palm Jebel Ali, Dubai, is based on AASHTO LRFD. Additional standards and reports are also considered to reflect regional conditions. In addition, JAFZA's Bridge Design Guideline is reviewed for their approval. This article focuses on modified design requirements such as load and durability fit to the middle east area. Technical specifications are mentioned briefly.

  • The contemporary educational system in South Korea is built on high-stakes standardised tests, a manifestation of the national project of social reconstruction and reform. One recent outcome is the emergence of an unfamiliar yet ubiquitous phenomenon: the "pig mum"; a Korean parent who is fully involved in organising, scheduling and managing the educational process from primary to secondary school for a group of children in a neighbourhood. Based on a quasimixed method utilizing a survey of a group of students and parents, this pilot study explores the "pig mum" phenomenon and its linkage to education policy. The authors conclude that the current educational policy fails to achieve the ideals it professes to value. This creates deep and negative societal norms that endanger a growing generation of students by creating a parallel private education market environment where "pig mums" thrive.

  • This study compares and analyzes the spatial distribution of people in two cities using location information in twitter data. The target cities were selected as Paris, a traditional tourist city, and Dubai, a tourist city that has recently attracted attention. The data was collected over 123 days in 2016 and 125 days in 2018. We compared the spatial distribution of two cities according to the two periods and residence status. In this study, we have found a hot place using a spatial statistical model called dart-shaped space division and estimated the urban area by reflecting the distribution of tweet population. And we visualized it as a CDF (cumulative distribution function) curve so that the distance between all the tweets' occurrence points and the city center point can be compared for different cities.

COVID-19 Prediction model using Machine Learning

  • The outbreak of the deadly virus COVID-19 is said to infect 17.3Cr people around the globe since 2019. This outbreak is continuously affecting a lot of new people till this day and, most of it is said to under control. However, vaccines introduced around the world can help mitigate the risk of the virus. Apart from medical professionals, prediction models are also said to combinedly help predict the risk of infection based on given datasets. This paper is based on publication of a machine learning approach using regression models to predict the output based on dataset which have indictors grouped based on active, tested, recovered and critical cases along with regions and cities covering most of it from Dubai. Hence, the active cases are tested based on the other indicators and other attributes. The coefficient of the determination (r2) is 0.96, which is considered promising. This model can be used as an frame work, among others, to predict the resources related to the dangerous outbreak.

  • When it comes to construction, the UAE leads the way. The UAE's construction industry is valued at US$ 221 billion (about AED 811.73 billion) - the highest in the region. The construction boom has caused a shortage of both manpower and materials, leading to rise in input prices not only in UAE but in the entire region. The prices of materials have reportedly increased more than manpower. Consequently, there has been an escalation in project costs, which have increased by 10-20 per cent since last three years. This paper examines the opportunities and challenges faced by the developers, consultants, contractors and suppliers due to the construction boom at UAE for the last five years. The paper summarizes that inspite of challenges faced, UAE expects the construction and real estate sectors to remain upbeat for the next ten years.

  • The Address Jumeirah Resort is a mixed-use 77-story tower reaching a height of 301 meters with a slenderness ratio of 13.5:1. The development is situated in the Jumeirah Beach District and accommodates 217 key five-star hotel suites, 478 residential apartments, 444 serviced-branded apartments, retail shops, ballrooms and entertainment facilities around the premises. The building has over 242,000 m2 of usable area. The project is an award-winning development that broke multiple Guinness records. The focus of the paper is to present the challenges faced in the structural design and construction of the super tall tower and the highest occupiable skybridge in the world.
