민군기술협력 촉진과 민군겸용기술사업 활성화 방안 (The Plan for Promotion of Civil and Military S&T Cooperation and Activation of Dual Use Technology Program)

  • Since the end of the cold war, technical tie-up between private corporations and an army in developed countries has increased a lot, and the trend is spreading through developing countries rapidly. To cope with the circumstance actively, the dual use technology program for both private corporations and an army was begun in Korea in 1998. With the program, overlapping investment was resolved and technology transfer was stimulated. And the standardization and information exchange saved considerable national budget and made possible economic profit. Yet, the combination project of 4 ministries and offices showed problems such as loose cooperation and, low industralization record. However, developed countries are out of the mere stage of dual technology development and turn into broad technical tie-up including future prediction, national competitiveness improvement, and the private company's leading participation and they are systemizing them very fast. Korea also set up the national defense reform plan with the blueprint of future military force improvement, budget increase for national defense research, and increased participation of private corporations, and created Defense Acquisition program Administration to support them. The innovation of national defense system brings forward the need to link the private and military innovation. Korea has pursued the fast growth through assimilation, absorption, and improvement of foreign technology. But now, Korea has to focus on self innovation, original technology, parts and material. As this applies to private companies and military equally, it is important to concentrate limited resources for the effective technology cooperation. Considering this, the strategies to activate the dual use technology are program concept and range extension, task-deduction way improvement and future-oriented common task deduction, and promotion system improvement.

소프트 에러 발생 시 자동 복구하는 이중 코어 지연 락스텝 프로세서의 설계 (Design of a Delayed Dual-Core Lock-Step Processor with Automatic Recovery in Soft Errors)

  • 본 논문에서는 차량 전자 시스템에서 소프트 에러와 공통 고장에 대응하기 위해 두 개의 코어를 지연 동작시킨 후 그 결과를 비교하는 D-DCLS(Delayed Dual Core Lock-Step) 프로세서를 설계하였다. D-DCLS는 어느 코어에서 에러가 발생했는지 알 수 없기 때문에 각 코어를 에러가 발생하기 이전 시점으로 되돌려야 하는데 파이프라인 스테이지 상의 모든 중간 계산값을 되돌리기 위해서는 복잡한 하드웨어 수정이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 이를 쉽게 구현하기 위해 분기 명령어가 실행될 때마다 모든 레지스터 값을 버퍼에 저장해 두었다가 에러가 발생하면 저장된 레지스터 값을 복구한 후 'BX LR' 명령어를 수행하여 해당 분기 시점으로 자동 복구하도록 하였다. 제안하는 D-DCLS 프로세서를 Verilog HDL로 설계하여 에러가 감지되었을 때 자동으로 복구한 후 정상 동작하는 것을 확인하였다.

Dual-stream Co-enhanced Network for Unsupervised Video Object Segmentation

  • Unsupervised Video Object Segmentation (UVOS) is a highly challenging problem in computer vision as the annotation of the target object in the testing video is unknown at all. The main difficulty is to effectively handle the complicated and changeable motion state of the target object and the confusion of similar background objects in video sequence. In this paper, we propose a novel deep Dual-stream Co-enhanced Network (DC-Net) for UVOS via bidirectional motion cues refinement and multi-level feature aggregation, which can fully take advantage of motion cues and effectively integrate different level features to produce high-quality segmentation mask. DC-Net is a dual-stream architecture where the two streams are co-enhanced by each other. One is a motion stream with a Motion-cues Refine Module (MRM), which learns from bidirectional optical flow images and produces fine-grained and complete distinctive motion saliency map, and the other is an appearance stream with a Multi-level Feature Aggregation Module (MFAM) and a Context Attention Module (CAM) which are designed to integrate the different level features effectively. Specifically, the motion saliency map obtained by the motion stream is fused with each stage of the decoder in the appearance stream to improve the segmentation, and in turn the segmentation loss in the appearance stream feeds back into the motion stream to enhance the motion refinement. Experimental results on three datasets (Davis2016, VideoSD, SegTrack-v2) demonstrate that DC-Net has achieved comparable results with some state-of-the-art methods.

  • The quality of a precision product, in genera, relies on the accuracy and precision of its manufacturing and inspection process. In many cases, the level of precision in the manufacturing and inspection system is also dependent on the positioning capability of tool with respect to the workpiece in the process. Recently the positioning accuracy level employed for some of precision product has reached the level of submicron and long range of motion is required.   • Performance test of servo control system that is used ultra-precision positioning system with single plane X-Y stage is performed by simulation with Matlab. Analyzed for previous control algorithm and adapted for modem control theory, dual servo algorithm is developed by minimum order observer, and stability priority on controller are secured.   • With the development of precision manufacturing technologies, the importance of precision positioning devices is increasing. Conventional actuators, dual stage or mechanically contacting type, have limitation in coping with performance demands. As a possible solution, magnetic suspension technology was studied. Such a contact-free system has advantages in terms of high accuracy, low production cost and easy adaptability to high precision manufacturing processes. This paper deals with magnetically suspended multi-degrees of freedom actuator which can realize large linear motion. In this paper, the operating principle is explained with the magnetic force analysis, and the equations of motion are derived. Experimental results of the implemented system are also given.

QAM 복조용 새로운 다단계 자력복구 군집형 채널등화기 (New Multi-Stage Blind Clustering Equalizers for QAM Demodulation)

  • We propose two new types multi-stage blind clustering equalizers for QAM demoulation, which are called a complex classification algorithm(CCA) and a radial basis function algorithm(RBFA). The CCA uses a clustering technique based on the joint gaussian probability function and computes separately the real part and imaginary part for simple implementation as well as less computation. In order to improve the performance of CCA, the Dual-Mode CCA(DMCCA) incorporates the CCA tap-updating mode with the decision-directed(DD) mode. The RBFA reduces the number of cluster centers through three steps using the classification technique of RBF and then updates the equalizer taps for QAM demodulation. Test results on 16-QAM confirm that the proposed algorithms perform better the conventional multi-state equalizers in the senses of SER and MSE under multi-path fading channel.

Option of EDFAs for WDM Long-Haul Transmission Systems Gain Flattening With or Without a Gain Equalizer

  • We have investigated gain flattening of EDFA systems with or without a gain equalizer for WDM long-haul transmission using a re-circulating EDFA loop. Without a gain equalizer, gain variation as small as 2.9 dB was achieved over the 10-nm band of a 100 cascaded EDFA system by the inversion principle. With a gain equalizer based on all-fiber acousto-optic tunable filters, two different config-urations of EDFAs were tested. For a single-stage EDFA scheme, the 21-nm band has shown 3.8 dB of gain variation at 17.4 ∼ 20.3 dB of OSNRs after the 100the stage of EDFAs. For a dual-stage EDFA scheme, a wider bandwidth of 34 nm has shown 3.6-dB variation after 40 cascaded EDFAs.

고속 통신을 위한 향상된 적응 다단 반향 제거기 (Enhanced Adaptive Multi-stage Echo Canceller for High Speed Communications)

  • Echo cancellation is required for a dual-duplex high speed communication such as digital subscriber line(DSL), in order to allow each individual loop to operate in a full duplex fashion. Echo cancellation was one of the most difficult aspects of DSL design, requiring high linearity and total echo return loss in excess of 70 dB. For a long and rapidly changing echo response, if the echo is cancelled by an adaptive echo canceller, the echo canceller needs more taps and its performance is decreased. But if the response is divided into several responses, which response is estimated by a adaptive digital filter and combined, the computation complexities are decreased and the performance is increased. Therefore, the adaptive multi-stage echo canceller is proposed to decrease the computation complexity and increase the performance of echo return loss, in which the echo canceller is composed of several stage echo canceller estimating each divided echo response. Through computer simulations, this multi-stage echo canceller is verified to have merits for high speed communications such as DSL application.

  • Nowadays, the improvement and development of Multi-media, information and communication technology are rapidly processed. And many products, for example, digital camera, digital camcorder, and PDA, are used for them. They need large data storage capacity and small size, light storage system. Due to that, many studies and researches in data storage system have been carried out. Especially, micro drive system was presented by IBM.(1) However, its system is expensive and uneasy to be portable. In ODD technologies, 1 inch drive system is not yet or in processing status.(2) If to be possible and to be come up, it is cheap than HDD system and easy to transfer information. In this paper, a miniaturized actuator(about linch) is designed and tested for ODD system. Specially, it is adapted for NFR(Near-field Recoding) system using SIL(Solid Immersion Lens). It is the dual-servo actuator which consists of a coarse actuator and fine actuator. Its actuating force generation method is VCM(Voice Ceil Motor). The fine actuator has 4-wire suspensions and bobbin wrapped by coil and includes focusing motion as well as tracking motion. The coarse actuator has an actuating coil and V-grooved guide mechanism. Also, the characteristics of the designed actuator is estimated by sine-swept mode and LDV(Laser Doppler Vibro-meter).
