  • A horn antenna having dual-band and dualpolarization operation is proposed. To implement a small-sized structure providing circular polarizations in the Ka- and K-band, the antenna is designed by using the horn radiator on the basis of a conical helix which is exited by two ports for TX and RX in both ends. Through a design optimization process, a compactdual-band and dual-polarized horn antenna having high gain and high isolation performance was realized.

  • A computational study on unsteady compressible flows has been performed by adopting a low Reynolds number $k-{\omega}$ turbulence model in conjunction with dual time stepping scheme. An explicit four-stage Runge-Kutta scheme for the Navier-Stokes equations and an approximate factorization scheme for the $k-{\omega}$ turbulence model equations are used. Computational results obtained for blade surface pressure distributions in the process of rotor-stator interaction in a turbine stage are in good agreement with extant experimental data. The effects of the wake from the stator on the boundary-layer transition over the rotor blade surface are discussed by showing that high intensity turbulence of the stator wake induces an early transition.

  • The influences of some casting conditions on bonding ratio and state at bonding zone of stainless steel-cast iron dual tube produced by centrifugal casting process were investigated to estimate fabrication technics. 1) Bonding ratio is increasing such as increasing of inner surface temperature of outer metal(stainless steel STS 304), if pouring temperature of inner metal (cast iron) is constant. 2) The more pouring temperature of inner metal (cast iron) increase, the more bonding ratio increase when inner surface temperature of outer metal (cast iron) is constant. 3) As the mold rotary speed is increase, the hatching area of bonding map (perfect bonding area) goes down to the low pouring temperature of inner metal. 4) In order to predict bonding state of two different metal, we are able to make and use the bonding map about casting conditions such as inner surface temperature of outer metal, pouring temperature of inner metal and mold rotary speed.

  • The quality of natural outdoor images captured by visible camera sensors is usually degraded by the haze present in the atmosphere. In this paper, a fast image dehazing method based on visible image and near-infrared fusion is proposed. In the proposed method, a visible and a near-infrared (NIR) image of the same scene is fused based on the dual-tree complex wavelet transform (DT-CWT) to generate a dehazed color image. The color of the fusion image is regulated through haze concentration estimated by dark channel prior (DCP). The experiment results demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms the conventional dehazing methods and effectively solves the color distortion problem in the dehazing process.

  • The desin and implementation of a CMOS analog integrated circuit that provides dual-mode modulations, PWM for active clamp reset converter and PFM for LLC resonant converter, is described. The proposed controller is capable of implementing programmable soft start and current-mode control with compensating ramp for PWM and frequency shifting soft start for PFM. Also it provides delay time for both modes. PWM mode is implemented by active clamp reset converter and PFM mode is implemented by LLC resonant convereter, respectively. The chip is fabricated using the 0.6um high voltage CMOS process.

  • From 20nm technology node, the finFET has become standard device for ULSI's. However, the finFET process made stacking gate non-volatile memory obsolete. Some reported capacitor-less DRAM structure by utilizing the FBE. We present possible non-volatile memory device structure similar to the dual gate MOSFET. One of the gates is left floating. Since body of the finFET is only 40nm thick, control gate bias can make electron tunneling through the floating gate oxide which sits across the body. For programming, gate is biased to accumulation mode with few volts. Simulation results show that the programming electron current flows at the interface between floating gate oxide and the body. It also shows that the magnitude of the programming current can be easily controlled by the drain voltage. Injected electrons at the floating gate act similar to the body bias which changes the threshold voltage of the device.

  • The main purpose of this research is to find suitable treatment methods of wastewater effluent for artificial recharge. For this purpose, we search the effluent quality of wastewater treatment plant and possibility of additional filtration process. Particles ranged 2 ~ 5 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 15~20 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in "T" WWTP(Waste Water Treatment Plant) effluent were relatively dominant. In dual-media filtration system operation, head-loss development of column 1 was about two times faster than column 2, and head-loss development within 5 cm from surface was very important factor in operation, Conclusively, for the stable filtration and running time of 1.5~2 day, influent turbidity must keep 5 NTU or below, and filtration system must operated at 280 m/day or below. After filtration of WWTP effluent, water quality reached satisfactory level. This water has potential of agricultural reusing, flushing water in building, recharging water to river or stream at dry season and artificial recharge of ground water.und water.

  • The Cu-based bulk metallic glass (BMG) composites containing Zr-based metallic glass phase have been consolidated by spark plasma sintering using the mixture of Cu-based and Zr-based metallic glass powders in their overlapped supercooled liquid region. The Zr-based metallic glass phases are well distributed homogeneously in the Cu-based metallic glass matrix after consolidation process. The successful consolidation of BMG composites with dual amorphous phases was corresponding to the sound viscous flow of the two kinds of metallic glass powders in their overlapped supercooled liquid region.

  • This paper presents shift characteristics of a dual clutch transmission(DCT). To obtain the shift force, dynamic models of the DCT are constructed by using MATLAB/Simulink and considering the rotational inertia of every component and the target pre-select time. Dynamic models of the shift and clutch actuators are derived based on the experimental results of the dynamic characteristics test. Based on the dynamic model of the DCT synchronizer, control actuator and vehicle model, a DCT vehicle performance simulator is developed. Using the simulator, the shift force and speed of the relevant shafts are obtained. In addition, the torque and acceleration of actuators are calculated during the shift process by considering the engaging and disengaging dynamics of the two clutches. It is observed from the performance simulator that uninterrupted torque can be transmitted by proper control of the two clutches.

  • In the post genome project era, it is well established that the human genome contains a smaller number of genes than expected. The complexity found in higher organisms can be explained if proteins are multifunctional. Indeed, recent studies are continuing to reveal proteins that are capable of a broad repertoire of functions. A good paradigm for multifunctionality can be found in the amino-acyl tRNA synthetases (aaRSs), an ancient conserved family of proteins. This unique family, which is comprised of 20 different enzymes, is well known for its participation in protein synthesis. Several studies have described numerous examples of these "housekeeping" proteins taking part in extensive critical cellular activities. In this review, we focus on a member of that family, lysyl-tRNA synthetase (LysRS), which has been shown to have a dual functionality. In addition to its contribution to the translation process, LysRS also takes part in the regulation of MITF and USF2 target genes. This phenomenon was first described in mast cells.
