The effect of light sources and CAD/CAM monolithic blocks on degree of conversion of cement

  • PURPOSE. To assess the degree of conversion (DC) and light irradiance delivered to light-cured and dual-cured cements by application of different light sources through various types of monolithic computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) materials. MATERIALS AND METHODS. RelyX Ultimate Clicker light-cured and dual-cured resin cement specimens with 1.5-mm thicknesses (n=300, 10/group), were placed under four types of crystalline core structure (Vita Enamic, Vita Suprinity, GC Ceresmart, Degudent Prettau Anterior). The specimens were irradiated for 40 seconds with an LED Soft-Start or pulse-delay unit or 20 seconds with a QTH unit. DC ratios were determined by using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) after curing the specimen at 1 day and 1 month. The data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test (for paired comparison) and the Kruskal-Wallis H test (for multiple comparison), with a significance level of P<.05. RESULTS. DC values were the highest for RelyX Ultimate Clicker light-cure specimens polymerized with the LED Soft-Start unit. The combination of the Vita Suprinity disc and RelyX Ultimate Clicker dual-cure resin cement yielded significantly higher values at both timepoints with all light units (all, P<.05). CONCLUSION. Within the limitations of this study, we conclude that the DC of RelyX Ultimate Clicker dual-cure resin cement was improved significantly by the use of Vita Suprinity and the LED Soft-Start light unit. We strongly recommend the combined use of an LED light unit and dual-cure luting cement for monolithic ceramic restorations.

CFRP/금속간 접합력 강화를 위한 접합공정 연구 (A Study on Bonding Process for Improvement of Adhesion Properties Between CFRP-Metal Dual Materials)

  • CFRP와 금속간의 접합공정이 개선된 구조용 접착제가 제조되었다. 구조용 접착제에 대한 경화시간, 기지재료의 표면상태 그리고 접착제의 양에 따른 최적의 접합공정 조건을 랩쉐어 실험을 통하여 파악하였다. 적합한 접합조건을 확인하기 위해 이종재료간의 접합 파단면 상태를 반사현미경을 이용하여 평가하였다. 이종재료간 접합력 향상을 위해 접착제의 개선뿐만 아니라 CFRP의 표면처리 또한 중요하였다. 구조용 접착제의 경우 180도 조건에 20분의 경화온도 조건이 최적이였으며, CFRP의 표면 처리에 따라 접합특성이 향상됨을 확인하였다. 이종재료 간 접합을 위해 구조용 접착제의 양은 $1.5{\times}10^{-3}g/mm^2$ 조건일 때 최적이었다. 접합공정의 개선 및 최적화를 통해 기존의 접착력 대비 10% 이상의 물성 강화를 나타냄을 확인하였다.

Effects of radiant exposure and wavelength spectrum of light-curing units on chemical and physical properties of resin cements

  • Objectives: In this study, we evaluated the influence of different radiant exposures provided by single-peak and polywave light-curing units (LCUs) on the degree of conversion (DC) and the mechanical properties of resin cements. Materials and Methods: Six experimental groups were established for each cement (RelyX ARC, 3M ESPE; LuxaCore Dual, Ivoclar Vivadent; Variolink, DMG), according to the different radiant exposures (5, 10, and $20J/cm^2$) and two LCUs (single-peak and polywave). The specimens were made (7 mm in length ${\times}$ 2 mm in width ${\times}$ 1 mm in height) using silicone molds. After 24 hours of preparation, DC measurement was performed using Fourier transform infrared spectrometry. The same specimens were used for the evaluation of mechanical properties (flexural strength, FS; elastic modulus, E) by a three-point bending test. Data were assessed for normality, after which two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and post hoc Tukey's test were performed. Results: No properties of the Variolink cement were influenced by any of the considered experimental conditions. In the case of the RelyX ARC cement, DC was higher when polywave LCU was used; FS and E were not influenced by the conditions evaluated. The LuxaCore cement showed greater sensitivity to the different protocols. Conclusions: On the basis of these results, both the spectrum of light emitted and the radiant exposure used could affect the properties of resin cements. However, the influence was material-dependent.

다양한 pH를 가지는 Universal adhesives와 이원 중합 레진 세멘트 간의 전단결합강도 (Shear bond strength between universal adhesives with various pH and dual-cured resin cements)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 현재 쓰임이 증가하고 있는 여러 종류의 범용 상아질 접착제와 삼차 아민을 포함 혹은 포함하지 않는 레진시멘트 간의 호환성을 평가하기 위함이다. 총 80개의 사람 대구치를 선정해 레진 블럭에 매몰하여 상아질을 노출시키고 600-grit SiC paper로 연마한 후 3종류의 범용 상아질 접착제 Scotchbond universal (3M ESPE, pH 2.6), G-premio bond (GC, pH 1.5), All bond universal (Bisco, pH 3.2) 및 대조군으로 3-step etch and rinse system인 Scotchbond multipurpose (3M ESPE)를 제조사의 지시대로 적용한 후 광중합 시행하였다. 그 위에 직경 2 mm, 높이 3 mm의 몰드를 이용해 삼차아민을 포함한 레진 시멘트인 Calibra(Dentsply) 혹은 삼차 아민을 포함하지 않는 레진시멘트인 RelyX Ultimate (3M ESPE)를 적용하고 20초간 광중합하였다. 그 후 $37^{\circ}C$ 증류수에 7일간 보관 후 미세전단강도를 측정하였다. 각 결과값을 ANOVA와 Tukey test로 분석하였다. 실험 결과 Calibra를 사용한 경우 Scotchbond Multipurpose와 All bond Universal adhesive 적용시 G-premio bond 및 Scotchbond universal adhesive를 적용했을 때에 비해 유의하게 높은 미세전단강도를 나타냈다(p<0.05) RelyX Ultimate를 사용한 경우 adhesive간의 유의한 차이가 관찰되지 않았다(p>0.05).

  • Interfacial and microfailure properties of carbon liber/bismaleimide (BMI) composites were evaluated using both tensile fragmentation and compressive Broutman tests with acoustic emission (AE). Since BMI is rather difficult matrix to apply for the conventional fragmentation test because of its too low elongation and too brittle and high modulus properties, dual matrix composite system was applied. After carbon fiber/BMI composite was prepared for rod shape by controlling differing curing stage, composites rod was embedded in toughened epoxy as outer matrix. The typical microfailure modes including fiber break, matrix cracking, and interlayer failure were observed during tensile testing, whereas the diagonal slippage in fiber ends was observed during compressive test. On the other hand, AE amplitudes of BMI matrix fracture were higher than carbon fiber tincture under tensile test because BMI matrix has very brittle and high modulus. The waveform of signals coming from BMI matrix fractures was consistent with AE amplitude result under tensile tests.

  • 본 연구에서 축 방향으로 충전 된 이종 추진제를 적용 이중 추력 추진기관의 성능 예측/해석 방법을 개발하였다. 부스터로부터 서스테이너 단계로 천이될 때 계면에서 성능에 관한 과도현상이 발생하였는데, 그 과도현상의 원인과 특성을 연소시험 결과와 함께 비교하여 조사하였다. 성능과도 현상은 추진제 물성이 서로 다른 추진제 사이 형상설계뿐만 아니라, 추진제 경화 수축에 따른 제작상 오차에 의해 민감하게 발생되고 있음을 확인되었다.

수용성 Cyclcophosphazene 유도체를 이용한 견섬유의 이중경화형 방염가공 (Dual-curable Flame-Retardant Finish of Silk Fabrics Using a Water-soluble Cyclophosphazene Derivative)

  • Flame-retardant finished silk fabrics could release carcinogenic formaldehyde resulting from the conventional finishing agents. New water-soluble cyclophosphazene derivative can be used as a formaldehyde-free flame retardant for the silk protein. Dichloro tetrakis{N-[3-dimethylamino)propyl]methacrylamido}cyclophosphazene(DCTDCP) can be cured by heat or UV irradiation as a durable flame retardant for the silk fabrics. Treatment conditions were optimized including curing temperature and time, finishing formulations, and UV energy. At the 30% DCTDCP application, peak HRR and THR decreased by 42.6% and 49.6% respectively compared to the pristine silk fabrics. Also char residue increased up to 48% from 11% indicating solid-phase retarding mechanism. The flame-retardant silk fabrics showed a LOI of 31.1 and the washed sample maintained a LOI of 26.8 even after ten laundering cycles.

레진시멘트의 중합방법이 포스트의 결합강도와 접착계면에 미치는 영향 (EFFECT OF CURING METHODS OF RESIN CEMENTS ON BOND STRENGTH AND ADHESIVE INTERFACE OF POST)

  • 본 연구에서는 2종의 이원중합 레진시멘트 (RelyX ARC와 Variolink II)를 이용하여 접착제와 레진시멘트의 중합방법 (자가중합과 광중합)이 섬유포스트와 근관 상아질의 결합강도와 접착계면에 미치는 영향을 상호 비교하기 위하여 시행하였다. 단근관을 갖는 발거된 32개의 하악 소구치에 근관을 충전한 후, FRC Postec system의 Reamer로 9 mm 깊이의 포스트 공간을 형성하였다. 레진시멘트의 종류와 중합방법에 따라 4개의 군 (R-SC군, R-LC군, V-SC군, V-LC군)으로 분류하였다. 포스트 공간에 각 군의 접착제를 도포한 후 레진시멘트를 주입하고, No. 3 FRC Postec 포스트를 위치시켜 자가중합 또는 광중합시켰다. 각 군의 치근을 실온의 증류수에 24시간동안 보관한 다음, 저속의 diamond wheel saw를 이용하여 치관부에서 치근단부를 향해 1.5 mm두께로 연속적으로 횡절단하여 1개의 치근에서 3개의 절편을 얻었다. 각 군의 절편 (31개)은 만능시험기에서 push-out 검사를 시행하였고, 각 군의 강도 값은 반복측정 two-way ANOVA와 one-way ANOVA를 이용하여 비교 분석하였다. 각 군의 절편 (3개)은 주사전자현미경하에서 섬유포스트, 레진시멘트 및 치근 상아질 간의 계면을 관찰, 비교하였다. 본 연구의 결과 전 부식 레진시멘트를 이용하여 섬유포스트를 포스트 공간에 합착할 경우, 접착제와 레진시멘트의 중합방법은 근관 상아질의 결합강도에 영향을 주었으며, 광중합보다 자가중합 방법 이 우수한 결합강도와 계면을 나타내었다.

이원중합형 코어 축조용 복합레진의 결합강도에 대한 NaOCI의 영향에 대한 연구 (Influence of Sodium Hypochlorite on Bond Strength of Dual-cured Core Build-up Resin Composite)

  • Two-step or one-step bonding systems generally inhibit curing process of dual-cured core build-up resin composite for their adhesive acidity. In addition this dual-cured core build-up resin composite can be applied to dentin of pulp chamber and root at the time that complete the endodontic treatment. The purpose of this investigation was to determine the influence of sodium hypochlorite on rnicrotensile bond strength of dual-cured core build-up resin composite. Extracted human molars were horizontally sectioned with 1mm thickness using low speed diamond saw. After the sectioned specimens were divided into 8 groups, adhesive systems (Clearfil SE-Bond, Prime&Bond NT[2-step, 1-step], Adper Prompt L-Pop) were then applied with or without sodium hypochlorite pretreatment. The treated specimen was filled with dual-cured core build-up resin composite (Luxacore, DMG corp., German). Then light cured for 40 seconds and soaked in $37^{\circ}C$ water bath for 24 hours. After the treated specimen was grinded with 1mm width and measured rnicrotensile bond strength by testing machine. Additionally 8 teeth were prepared for SEM evaluation. The results were as follows. : NaOCl treated groups generally had lower rnicrotensile bond strength but did not show any difference statistically except Adper Prompt L-Pop. When the teeth were treated by NaOCl, though the difference of applied adhesive system, it had no statistically significant difference within the NaOCl treated groups except the relation of between ClearFil SE-Bond adhesive system and Adper Prompt L-Pop adhesive system. In the SEM evaluation, NaOCl treated groups presented relatively long resin tags and incomplete hybrid layer formation generally.

Nanofiller as Crosslinker for Halogen-Containing Elastomers

  • A Zn ion-coated nanosilica filler has been developed and tested, in chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSPE) and polychloroprene (CR), as a vulcanizing activator, cum was reinforcing filler. In this study, ZnO was replaced by the Zn ion-coated nanosilica filler with an aim of studying the dual role of this nanofiller in CSPE and CR. In the case of CSPE vulcanizates, the presence of MgO deteriorated the state and rate of cure when the Zn ion-coated nanosilica filler was used, but in the case of CR it improved the state of cure and enhanced the modulus and tensile strength. The Zn ion-coated filler proved to be a better reinforcing-cum-curing agent than was externally added ZnO and NA-22 also proved to be a better curative in the presence of the Zn ion-coated nanosilica filler for both CSPE and CR.
