  • In this paper, we propose a dual-mode frequency tripler using push-push and stacked FET structures. The proposed circuit can operate either in frequency multiplier mode or in amplifier mode. In the frequency multiplier mode, push-push frequency multiplication is achieved by allowing input signals with particular phase shifts. In the amplifier mode, the device operates as a distributed amplifier to obtain high gain. Also both modes were designed using stacked FET structure. The designed circuit showed frequency tripled output power of 9.7 dBm at 2.4 GHz with the input at 800 MHz. On the other hand, in the amplifier mode, the device showed 8.9 dB of gain to generate 19.5 dBm at 800 MHz.

  • In this paper, modified spiral monopole printed antenna for dual band operation in GPS(1.57~1.577 GHz) and WiBro(2.3~2.4 GHz), WLAN(2.4~2.48 GHz) is proposed. To control the frequency ratio of the antenna for dual band operation freely, distance between inner lines of the spiral is diversified by using the different current distribution between basic resonance frequency of spiral monopole antenna and harmonic resonance frequency$(3\lambda_H/4)$. And also the branch line is inserted. Bandwidth(-10 dB) of the antenna is measured 140 MHz(1.47~1.61 GHz) in basic resonance frequency and 420 MHz(2.29~2.71 GHz) in harmonic resonance frequency$(3\lambda_H/4)$. The peak antenna gains are measured 2.825 dBi in GPS(1.57 GHz), and 3.65 dBi in WiBro(2.35 GHz), and 4.564 dBi in WLAN(2.44 GHz).

  • This paper describes a dual-mode reference-less CDR(Clock Data Recovery) operating at full / half-rate and its operation algorithm. Proposed reference-less CDR consists of a frequency detector, a phase detector, a charge pump, a loop filter, a voltage controlled oscillator, and a digital block. The frequency and phase detectors operate at both full / half-rate for dual-mode operation and especially the frequency detector is capable of detecting the difference between data rate and clock frequency in the dead zone of general frequency detectors. Dual-mode reference-less CDR with the proposed algorithm can recover the data and clock within 1.2-1.3 us and operates reliably at both full-rate (2.7 Gb/s) and half-rate (5.4 Gb/s) with 0.5-UI input jitter.

  • In this paper, we design the dual frequency antenna that could easily determine two operation frequencies by its inverted-F antenna structure and spur line length. The spur line is applied to the inverted-F antenna, in order to dual operation characteristics in PCS and cellular frequencies. It has designed by using the IE3D commercial software based on the moment method. As the designed antenna is fabricated and measured, you can see the results such as the return loss, the input impedance, the radiation patterns, and the gain. The size of this antenna is 40 mm$\times$14 mm$\times$9.4 mm, it is compact enough to use as an intenna. Also, This antenna can be used with cellular and PCS phone of domestic market.

  • For dual-band operation, it can be done by loading two pair of narrow slots in the equilateral-triangular patch, one embedded close to the side edges of the patch and the other inserted at the bottom edge of the patch. The obtained two operating frequencies are of same polarization planes. The frequency ratio of the two operating frequencies is turnabled by varing the positions and lengths of the inserted slots at the bottom edge of the patch. In this paper, A single-feed equilateral-triangular microstrip patch with two pairs of narrow slot for dual-frequency operation is printed on the substrate(TMN-4 Rosers Co.) of the 60 miles. the antenna radiation characteristics are calculated by Ensemble ver. 5.0 software, and compared with the experimental results.

  • This paper presents the design and measurement of a 2.4/5.2-GHz dual band VCO with a balanced frequency doubler in $0.18\;{\mu}m$ CMOS process. The topology of a 2.4 GHz VCO is a cross-coupled VCO with a LC tank and the frequency of the VCO is doubled by a frequency balanced doubler for a 5.2 GHz VCO. The gate bias matching network for class B operation in the balanced doubler is adopted to obtain as much power at 2nd harmonic output as possible. The average output powers of the 2.4 GHz and 5.2 GHz VCOs are -12 dBm and -13 dBm, respectively, the doubled VCO has fundamental harmonic suppression of -25 dB. The measured phase noises at 5 MHz frequency offset are -123 dBc /Hz from 2.6 GHz and -118 dBc /Hz from 5.1 GHz. The total size of the dual band VCO is $1.0\;mm{\times}0.9\;mm$ including pads.

  • This raper proposes a dual-bandstop filter, which is based on a metamaterial transmission line using the composite right/left-handed (CRLH) and dual composite right/left-handed (D-CRLH) structures. The metamaterial structure is used for miniaturization and dual-bandstop operation at the TDMB frequency range (195 MHz) and DVB-T/H frequency range (670 MHz). The size of the proposed filter is $30{\times}15\;mm$, and the -10 dB bandstop fractional bandwidth is approximately 73 % and 50 % at each frequency, respectively.

These are operated in high frequency and low frequency. The dimension of experiential antenna is fixed for attaching at the handset. The variable parameters are dimension of small patch, length of shorting strip and dimension of folded conductor plate, the frequencies are 900 MHz and 1800 MHz. The compact antenna is implemented with 2-layer type, electric field intensities and radiation patterns are simulated. In order to analyze characteristics of a performance as variety of parameters, FDTD method is used.

  • In this paper, high efficient power amplifier with dual band has been realized. Dual band power amplifier have used modify stub matching for single FET, center frequency 2.14GHz and 5.2GHz respectively. The dual-band operation of the CRLH TL is achieved by the frequency offset and the nonlinear phase slope of the CRLH TL for the matching network of the power amplifier. Because the control of the all harmonic components is very difficult m dual-band, we have managed only the second- and third-harmonics to obtain the high efficiency with the CRLH TL in dual-band. Dual-band characteristics in the output has to balance. Two operating frequencies are chosen at 2.14 GHz and 5.2 GHz in this work. The measured results show that the output power of 28.56 dBm and 29 dBm was obtained at 2.14 GHz and 5.2 GHz, respectively. At this point, we have obtained the power-added efficiency (PAE) of 65.824 % and 69.86 % at two operation frequencies, respectively.

  • This paper presents design simulation, implementation, and measurement of a miniaturized GPS/K-PCS dual-band LTCC chip antenna for mobile communication handsets. The dimension of LTCC chip antenna is $9mm{\times}15mm{\times}1.2mm$. The lower meander type antenna is to be tuned to the lower frequency (GPS) band and the upper meander antenna with via hole connection is to contribute the higher frequency (K-PCS) band. In order to lowering the resonant frequency for GPS band, two printed modified meander antenna with gap stub is used to integrate with PCS band operation. The measured resonant frequency at GPS band shifts to lower frequency about 100MHz. The measured impedance bandwidth(VSWR $\leq$ 2) are 55MHz and 120MHz at the resonant frequency. respectively.
