Catalytic Activity of Au/$TiO_2$ and Pt/$TiO_2$ Nanocatalysts Prepared with Arc Plasma Deposition under CO Oxidation

  • We report the catalytic activity of Au/$TiO_2$ and Pt/$TiO_2$ nanocatalysts under CO oxidation fabricated by arc plasma deposition (APD), which is a facile dry process with no organic materials involved. Using APD, the catalyst nanoparticles were well dispersed on $TiO_2$ powder with an average particle size (2~4 nm) well below that of nanoparticles prepared by the sol-gel method (10 nm). We found that the average particle size of the dispersed gold nanoparticles can be controlled by changing the plasma discharge voltage of APD. Accordingly, the amount of loaded gold on the $TiO_2$ powder increased with increasing discharge voltage, but the specific surface area of the Au/$TiO_2$ samples decreased. As for catalytic reactivity, Au/$TiO_2$ showed a higher catalytic activity than Pt/$TiO_2$ in CO oxidation. The catalytic activity of the Au/$TiO_2$ samples showed size dependence where higher catalytic activity occurred on smaller gold nanoparticles. The study suggests that APD is a simple way to fabricate catalytically active nanocatalysts.

Cs 치환에 따른 수전해용 공유가교 SPEEK/Cs(n)-MoPA/Ceria 1%(n = 1~3) 복합막의 특성 연구 (Research of Characterization of Covalently Cross-linked SPEEK/Cs-Substituted MoPA/Ceria 1wt% Composite Membrane for Water Electrolysis)

  • Ceria ($CeO_2$) was used to scavenge free radicals which attack the membrane in the polymer electrolyte membrane water electrolysis (PEMWE) circumstance and to increase the duration of the membrane. In order to improve the electrochemical, mechanical and electrocatalytic characteristics, engineering plastic of the sulfonated polyether ether ketone (SPEEK) as polymer matrix was prepared in the sulfonation reaction of polyether ether ketone (PEEK) and the organic-inorganic blended composite membranes were prepared by sol-gel casting method with loading the highly dispersed ceria and cesium-substituted phophomolybdic acid(Cs-MoPA) with cross-linking agent contents of 0.01mL. In conclusion, CL-SPEEK/$Cs_{(2.5)}$-MoPA/ceria(1%) membrane showed the optimum results such as 0.1095S/cm of proton conductivity at $80^{\circ}C$, 2.906meq./g-dry-membrane of ion exchange capacity and mechanical characteristics, and 49.73MPa of tensile strength which were better than Nafion 117 membrane.

  • Self-patterning of thin films using photosensitive sol solution has advantages such as simple manufacturing process compared to photoresist/dry etching process. In this study, ferroelectric $Sr_{0.9}Bi_{2.1}Ta_2O_9$(SBT) and $La_{0.5}Sr_{0.5}CoO_3$(LSCO)thin films have been prepared by spin coating method using photosensitive sol solution. $Sr(OC_2H5)_2$, $Bi(TMHD)_3$ and $Ta(OC_2H)_5)_5$ were used as starting materials for SBT solution and $La(OCH_2CH_2OCH_3)_3$, $Sr(OC_2H_5)_2$, $CO(OCH_2CH_2OCH_3)_2$ were used for LSCO solution. Solubility difference by UV irradiation on LSCO thin film allows to obtain a fine patterning due to M-O-M bond formation. The lowest resistivity($4{\times}10^{-3}{\Omega}cm$) of LSCO thin films was obtained by annealing at $740^{\circ}C$.

스핀코팅법으로 제작한 산화아연/산화구리 이종접합의 정류 및 일산화질소 가스 감지 특성 (Rectifying and Nitrogen Monoxide Gas Sensing Properties of a Spin-Coated ZnO/CuO Heterojunction)

  • We present the rectifying and nitrogen monoxide (NO) gas sensing properties of an oxide semiconductor heterostructure composed of n-type zinc oxide (ZnO) and p-type copper oxide thin layers. A CuO thin layer was first formed on an indium-tin-oxide-coated glass substrate by sol-gel spin coating method using copper acetate monohydrate and diethanolamine as precursors; then, to form a p-n oxide heterostructure, a ZnO thin layer was spin-coated on the CuO layer using copper zinc dihydrate and diethanolamine. The crystalline structures and microstructures of the heterojunction materials were examined using X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The observed current-voltage characteristics of the p-n oxide heterostructure showed a non-linear diode-like rectifying behavior at various temperatures ranging from room temperature to $200^{\circ}C$. When the spin-coated ZnO/CuO heterojunction was exposed to the acceptor gas NO in dry air, a significant increase in the forward diode current of the p-n junction was observed. It was found that the NO gas response of the ZnO/CuO heterostructure exhibited a maximum value at an operating temperature as low as $100^{\circ}C$ and increased gradually with increasing of the NO gas concentration up to 30 ppm. The experimental results indicate that the spin-coated ZnO/CuO heterojunction structure has significant potential applications for gas sensors and other oxide electronics.

폐지 용액화물로부터 성분분리 및 분석 (The Analysis and Isolation of Component from Liquefied Wastepaper)

  • 본 연구는 폐지로부터 용액화물을 제조하고, 제조된 용액화물의 성분 분리 및 성상분석을 통해 용액화물의 효율적인 이용방안을 위한 기초자료 제공에 그 연구 목적이 있다. 폐지의 액화에 있어 건식해리된 폐지보다 습식해리된 폐지의 액화가 비교적 용이하였으며, 이러한 이유는 습식해리된 폐지의 약품 침투가 비교적 용이하기 때문으로 판단된다. 폐지의 최적 액화조건은 폐지 1 g에 대해 크레졸 2 ㎖, 물 4 ㎖, 인산 0.5 ㎖로 첨가하여 190℃에서 60분간 액화 시킨 조건이 가장 우수하였다. 폐지 액화물 중 리그닌은 용제인 크레졸 층으로, 탄수화물은 수층으로 용해되어 각각 분리되며, 두 성분의 분리·회수는 비교적 용이하였다. 액화 폐지 중의 리그닌은 80% 이상 회수되었고, 회수된 리그닌의 분자량은 1,000 정도의 저분자량을 나타냈었다.

수증기 쪼임법에 의한 제올라이트형 보로실리케이트 제조방법 (Synthesis of Borosilicate Zeotypes by Steam-assisted Conversion Method)

  • 펜타실 구조와 유사한 제올라이트형 결정성 보로실리케이드를 수증기 쪼임법으로 제조하였다. 실제 여러 종류의 서로 다른 붕소화합물 원료를 사용하여 만든 다양한 조성의 Na2O.SiO2.B2O3.TBA2O 겔을 건조시켜 얻은 무정형 분말을 수열합성 분위기에서 수증기를 쪼임으로써 펜타실 구조를 갖는 보로실리케이트 제올라이트를 합성하였다. 이때 MFI와 MEL 구조가 90:10의 비율을 혼합되어 있는 새로운 중간구조 물질이 얻어 졌다. 본 연구로부터, 젖어 있는 반응성 고체상 물질이 수증기와 높은 pH 분위기에서 결정화가 이루어짐을 확인하였다. X-선 회절법으로 분석한 결과 생성물은 우수한 결정성을 가질뿐만 아니라 독특한 촉매적 성질을 보일것으로 예상되는 구조를 갖는다. 또한 반전중심을 갖는 MFI 구조의 펜타실 층이 규칙적으로 쌓이는 모양을 보이지만 이는 MEL 구조의 거울상 층으로 이루어진 결함에 의해 방해된다. 생성물은 77 K 질소흡착법에 의하면 미세기공 부피가 0.160 cc/g 로서 순수한 MFI 구조 물질이 갖는 0.119 cc/g 보다 더 크며, 비교적 넓은 비표면적(~600 m2/g)을 보인다. 적외선 스펙트럼에서는 900.75 cm-1에서 흡수띠를 보이는데, 이는 붕소가 결정성 실리케이트의 사면체 구조내에 위치함을 뜻한다.

미생물 기반 자발적 콘크리트 균열치유제 성능 분석 및 실스케일 균열치유성능 검증 (Investigation of Microorganism-Based Autonomous Crack Healing Agent and Full-scale Verification of Crack Healing)

  • 이 연구에서는 탄산칼슘 형성 박테리아의 내생포자를 접종한 알지네이트 겔과 포자현탁액 형태의 균열치유제를 모르타르에 첨가하여 균열치유성능을 비교, 분석함으로써 균열치유제 제조방법별 균열치유성능을 분석하였다. 또한 박스형 암거 형태의 실 구조물에 적용하여 실험실 환경뿐만 아니라 개발된 균열치유제가 실제 현장에 적용될 수 있는 환경을 조성하여 실구조물 스케일에서 균열치유성능을 검증하고자 하였다. 건조 방식을 달리한 두 가지 형태의 알지네이트 겔로 구성된 균열치유제를 분석한 결과, 건열건조 방식의 균열치유제는 균열치유 성능을 나타내었으나, 동결건조 방식의 경우 얼음 결정에 의해 다수의 포자가 사멸되어 균열치유성능을 잃는 것으로 나타났다. 실스케일 구조물의 균열부에서 추출된 균열치유 추정물질의 SEM 사진과 XRD 패턴 분석 결과 균열치유제에 적용된 균열치유 미생물이 생성한 탄산칼슘 결정 중 하나인 calcite인 것으로 나타났으며, 미생물에 의한 균열치유메커니즘이 실구조물에서 구현될 수 있음을 확인하였다.

쌀 식미 및 가공적성에 관련된 이화학적 특성 (Physicochemical Characteristics and Varietal Improvement Related to Palatability of Cooked Rice or Suitability to Food Processing in Rice)

  • The endeavors enhancing the grain quality of high-yielding japonica rice were steadily continued during 1980s∼1990s along with the self-sufficiency of rice production and the increasing demands of high-quality rices. During this time, considerably great, progress and success was obtained in development of high-quality japonica cultivars and qualify evaluation techniques including the elucidation of interrelationship between the physicochemical properties of rice grain and the physical or palatability components of cooked rice. In 1990s, some high-quality japonica rice caltivars and special rices adaptable for food processing such as large kernel, chalky endosperm aromatic and colored rices were developed and its objective preference and utility was also examined by a palatability meter, rapid-visco analyzer and texture analyzer. The water uptake rate and the maximum water absorption ratio showed significantly negative correlations with the K/Mg ratio and alkali digestion value(ADV) of milled rice. The rice materials showing the higher amount of hot water absorption exhibited the larger volume expansion of cooked rice. The harder rices with lower moisture content revealed the higher rate of water uptake at twenty minutes after soaking and the higher ratio of maximum water uptake under the room temperature condition. These water uptake characteristics were not associated with the protein and amylose contents of milled rice and the palatability of cooked rice. The water/rice ratio (in w/w basis) for optimum cooking was averaged to 1.52 in dry milled rices (12% wet basis) with varietal range from 1.45 to 1.61 and the expansion ratio of milled rice after proper boiling was average to 2.63(in v/v basis). The major physicochemical components of rice grain associated with the palatability of cooked rice were examined using japonica rice materials showing narrow varietal variation in grain size and shape, alkali digestibility, gel consistency, amylose and protein contents, but considerable difference in appearance and torture of cooked rice. The glossiness or gross palatability score of cooked rice were closely associated with the peak. hot paste and consistency viscosities of viscogram with year difference. The high-quality rice variety “Ilpumbyeo” showed less portion of amylose on the outer layer of milled rice grain and less and slower change in iodine blue value of extracted paste during twenty minutes of boiling. This highly palatable rice also exhibited very fine net structure in outer layer and fine-spongy and well-swollen shape of gelatinized starch granules in inner layer and core of cooked rice kernel compared with the poor palatable rice through image of scanning electronic mcroscope. Gross sensory score of cooked rice could be estimated by multiple linear regression formula, deduced from relationship between rice quality components mentioned above and eating quality of cooked rice, with high Probability of determination. The ${\alpha}$ -amylose-iodine method was adopted for checking the varietal difference in retrogradation of cooked rice. The rice cultivars revealing the relatively slow retrogradation in aged cooked rice were Ilpumbyeo, Chucheongbyeo, Sasanishiki, Jinbubyeo and Koshihikari. A Tongil-type rice, Taebaegbyeo, and a japonica cultivar, Seomjinbyeo, shelved the relatively fast deterioration of cooked rice. Generally, the better rice cultivars in eating quality of cooked rice showed less retrogiadation and much sponginess in cooled cooked rice. Also, the rice varieties exhibiting less retrogradation in cooled cooked rice revealed higher hot viscosity and lower cool viscosity of rice flour in amylogram. The sponginess of cooled cooked rice was closely associated with magnesium content and volume expansion of cooked rice. The hardness-changed ratio of cooked rice by cooling was negatively correlated with solids amount extracted during boiling and volume expansion of cooked rice. The major physicochemical properties of rice grain closely related to the palatability of cooked rice may be directly or indirectly associated with the retrogradation characteristics of cooked rice. The softer gel consistency and lower amylose content in milled rice revealed the higher ratio of popped rice and larger bulk density of popping. The stronger hardness of rice grain showed relatively higher ratio of popping and the more chalky or less translucent rice exhibited the lower ratio of intact popped brown rice. The potassium and magnesium contents of milled rice were negatively associated with gross score of noodle making mixed with wheat flour in half and the better rice for noodle making revealed relatively less amount of solid extraction during boiling. The more volume expansion of batters for making brown rice bread resulted the better loaf formation and more springiness in rice bread. The higher protein rices produced relatively the more moist white rice bread. The springiness of rice bread was also significantly correlated with high amylose content and hard gel consistency. The completely chalky and large gram rices showed better suitability for fermentation and brewing. Our breeding efforts on rice quality improvement for the future should focus on enhancement of palatability of cooked rice and marketing qualify as well as the diversification in morphological and physicochemical characteristics of rice grain for various value-added rice food processings.

슈크로오스 지방산 에스테르와 대두유 첨가 쌀가루겔의 노화 (Retrogradation of Sucrose Fatty Acid Ester and Soybean Oil Added Rice Flour Gels)

  • 동진벼 쌀가루에 슈크로오스 지방산 에스테르(SE1670)와 대두유를 0.5, 1.0, 2.0% (w/w, 쌀가루 건물당) 첨가하여 50% 쌀가루겔을 제조하고 $20^{\circ}C$$4^{\circ}C$에서 1, 3, 6일간 저장하면서 노화도를 ${\alpha}$-아밀라아제-요드법으로 측정하고 DSC와 X-선 회적도로 비교하였다. 쌀가루겔의 노화도는 첨가물의 종류와 첨가수준에 관계없이 모든 시료에 있어 $20^{\circ}C$저장에 비하여 $4^{\circ}C$저장했을 때 노화가 더 빨리 진행되었다. SE1670과 대두유의 첨가수준이 증가할수록 노화도는 감소하였고 특히 1일 저장시 노화억제 효과가 켰다. 저장기간이 길어질수록 SE1670 첨가로 인한 노화억제 호과는 뚜렷하였으나 대두유를 첨가한 시료의 노화도는 큰 변화가 없었다. SE1670 첨가시 DSC에 의한 노화 용융 엔탈피는 ${\alpha}$-아밀라아제-요드법과 같은 경향이었으나 대두유를 첨가했을 때는 달랐다. X-선 회절도에서는 첨가물질에 따라 $2{\theta}=16.7^{\circ}$에서 피크가 감소하였으나 뚜렷한 차이는 없었다.
