화력발전소 보일러 드럼 수위 퍼지 제어 (Fuzzy control of drum level of boiler in thermal power plant)

  • The control objective of drum level of boiler in thermal power plant is to maintain drum level at constant setpoint regardless of disturbance such as main steam flow. The initial response of the drum level loop process is in a direction opposite to the final response. The drum level loop shows inverse response when the power is changed abruptly. We adopt fuzzy controller using knowledge base considering system dynamics for controlling drum level. Finally, the simulation result using the digital simulator for boiler system in Seoul Power Plant Unit 4 shows the validity of fuzzy controller.

  • In this paper, a fuzzy expert system is developed for fault diagnoisis of a drum-type boiler system in fossil power plants. The develped fuzzy espert system is composed of knowledge base, fuzzification module, knowledge base process module, knowledge base management module, inference module, and linguistic approximation module. The main objective of the fuzzy expert system is to check the states of the system including the drum level and detect faults such as the feedwater flow sensor fault, feedwater flow control valve fault, and water wall bube rupture. The fuzzy expert system diagnoses faults using process values, manipulated values, and knowledge base which is built via interviews and questionaries with the experts on the plant operations. Finally, the validity of the developed fuzzy expert system is shown via experiments using the digital simulator for boiler system is Seoul Power Plant Unit 4.

압송롤러 드럼베이스의 홀 설계에 따른 페인트 유입양상에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Inflow Pattern of Paint according to the Hole Design of the Drum-base in the Pressure-roller)

  • 최근 환경부의 강화된 규제로 건축물 아파트 등 산업시설을 도장함에 있어 페인트를 유압에 의해 자동으로 이송시켜 스프레이식으로 도장하는 기존 에어리스 방식의 사용을 금지하였다. 따라서 기존의 에어리스 도장장치에 스프레이 대신 부착하여 사용할 압송롤러개발이 필요한데, 현재 개발되어 판매 중인 압송롤러는 롤러를 구성하는 SUS배관 및 드럼베이스의 홀 설계에 대한 자세한 연구 사례가 없어 그 효율성이 의심이 되는 바이다. 특히, 롤러를 이용한 도장 시롤러 양단에 페인트가 충분히 공급되지 못하면 도장 후 붓을 이용한 재작업이 필요하게 되므로, 롤러 양단에 페인트가 잘 유입될 수 있도록 드럼베이스 홀을 분포시킬 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 SUS배관 및 드럼베이스에 가공되는 홀의 형태가 페인트의 유입양상에 미치는 영향을 알아보고 보다 효율적인 홀 설계 방안을 제시하기 위하여 SUS배관 및 롤러에 대하여 전산유체해석을 수행하였다. 해석결과 SUS배관에서의 홀 배치는 배관에 균일하게 배치하는 것이 균형 있게 페인트를 유입시키기에 좋고, 드럼베이스의 경우는 홀을 드럼베이스 양단에 밀집하여 가공하면 페인트가 롤러 양단에 더 잘 유입시킬 수 있음이 검증되었다.

  • A drum type magnetic separator was designed and optimized by computer simulation. The separator consisted of rotating outer shell of drum, magnetic flux generator drum which was assembled with numbers of disk type magnet holders, and drum axis around which the magnet holders were fixed. NdFeB magnet blocks were inserted into the disks, and the disks were assembled layer by layer along the drum axis. Magnetic circuits of the separator were simulated on the basis of highest magnetic strength, least cost, and high yield of separation by using a Vector Field S/W employing the Opera-2D program. The separator proved a separation yield of 95% in removing fine iron-base particles, and installed at Hot Rolling Mill of Pohang Iron & Steel Co. In Korea.

A Feasibility Study on Adopting Sliding Pressure Operation for Drum Type Boiler

  • In general, drum-type boilers are designed for base load duty and applied under constant pressure operation mode. Recently, however conditions often occur that even drum-type boilers have to operate at partial load conditions. A feasibility study on adopting the sliding pressure operation for drum-type boiler was conducted, and corresponding performance changes and effects on the equipment were analyzed by utilizing a process simulation model. As a result, the conclusion was reached that drum type boilers are able to adopt the sliding pressure operation and can improve of net efficiency at part load operation in spite of the Rankine cycle efficiency reduction due to the decreases in main steam pressure. Because of thank to improvement of high pressure turbine stage-1 internal efficiency and power savings of boiler feed water pump. The sliding pressure operation is advantageous in terms of stress level relief for boiler tube as well as maintaining the rating steam temperature at part load condition. However, cautions are required because the drum boilers have poor dynamic response characteristics which may get worse during the sliding pressure operation.

드럼형 자동공구교환장치의 설계에 관한 연구 (A study on the Design of Drum Type Automatic Tool Changer)

  • Automatic tool changers (ATCs) can be divided into drum and chain types. Drum-type ATCs contain a magazine, where the tools are mounted, and a cam gearbox, which swaps the tools via roller gear and grooved plate cams. Drum-type ATCs are advantageous in that the operating time for the tool magazine is more rapid than that of chain-type ATCs and the length of the unit is shorter. Thus, drum-type ATCs can be fabricated into various shapes and forms depending on the number of tools and the magazine size in accordance with machining center requirements and consumer demand. In particular, the price competitiveness of a machining center with a drum-type ATC is higher, while drum-type ATCs are more rigid with fewer parts, possibly reducing the need for regular servicing. This study aims to verify the structural stability and design validity of the magazine base, which is the main structure of a drum-type ATC, using finite element analysis. This study kinematically verifies the specifications of the selected drive motor and reducer and assessed the design of the cam gearbox. It also conducts a structural analysis of the roller camp, which is the core component of the cam gearbox, based on the results of the kinetodynamic analysis, thus validating the structural design.

다구찌기법을 이용한 자동차용 드럼 클러치 허브 제조를 위한 예비성형체의 최적화 (Optimization of Pre-form for Manufacturing of Automobile Drum Clutch Hub Products Using Taguchi Method)

  • The drum clutch investigated in this study is formed in 5 forming steps, which are 1st deep drawing, 2nd deep drawing, restriking, embossing, and $Grob^{TM}$ processes. Dimensional accuracy of the final products greatly depends upon how much more accurate pre-form is manufactured in the previous forming processes before the $Grob^{TM}$ process. The deep drawing, restriking and embossing processes in which the pre-form is formed are very important and decisive steps. Thus in some cases, excessive strain by these operations causes dimensional inaccuracy and cracks initiated from the base and wall of the product. Process variables such as the punch shapes both of 1st and 2nd deep drawing, and punch angle were selected to evaluate the deformation characteristics. The optimum parameters were determined from forming simulations using commercial FEM codes, DEFORM and Tauchi method, specifically developed for metal forming simulation. Finally, experiments for the whole drum clutch forming processes were carried out to verify the optimized forming parameters and the analytical results.

선체부착형 원통형 배열 소나의 선체충격에 의한 응답 (Dynamic Response of Hull Mounted Cylindrical Array Sonars to Shocks)

  • Dynamic response of a hull mounted sonar(HMS) to shocks transmitted through hull structures is analyzed and then the structural reliability of the sonars is evaluated. Finite element model of the hull mounted sonar is established and the transient responses to the shock is calculated using MSC.NASTRAN. According to BV043, the maximum allowable accelerations at the foundation of the sonar are converted from the shock spectra allowable for HMS. They are applied vertically and horizontally, respectively, using the large mass method. The structural reliability is evaluated by comparing the von-Mises stresses with the material yield stress. The drum for sensors shows a high reliability owing to mounts by which the shock waves from the base structure are well protected. However, the mounts between the base structure and the drum to mount sensors show a high stress intensity. The base structure also reveals a high stress intensity at the connection points to the hull.

고주파유도 용접된 A3003 알루미늄합금 튜브의 기계적 특성에 미치는 열처리조건의 영향 (Effects of Heat-treatment Parameters on Mechanical Properties of A3003 Al Alloy Tubes for Heat-exchangers by High Frequency Induction Welding)

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the full annealing parameter for A3003 Al alloy welded tubes. The A3003 Al alloy tubes with 34 mm in external diameter and 1.3 mm in thickness for OPC drum were manufactured by high frequency induction welding with the V shaped convergence angle $6.7^{\circ}$ and power input 50 kW. The tensile and yield strength decreased with increasing the annealing temperature and time remarkably, but elongation increased remarkably. Vickers hardness in welds and base metal decreased with increasing the annealing temperature and time remarkably. In a certain experimental condition, the welds line in A3003 alloys disappeared at $520^{\circ}C$ for 4hr because of the same mechanical properties and structures between welds and base metal.

대구경-후판 압력용기용 저 합금강(Mn-Mo)의 용접특성 (A Welding Characteristics of Large Caliber-Thick Plate Pressure Vessel Low Alloy Steel (Mn-Mo))

  • Recently the low alloy steel plate made with manganese-molybdenum is used widely in steam drum and separator of the new coal-fired power plant boiler. This material is suitable for the vapor storage of high pressure and high temperature. The high temperature creep strength of Mn-Mo alloy is higher than the carbon plate(SA516) that used in the subcritical pressure boiler. It reduces the thickness of the pressure vessel and makes the lightweight possible. Recently in the power plant boiler operation and production process, the damage has happened frequently in the heat affected zone and base material according to the hydrogen crack and delayed crack. This paper describes the research result about the damage case experienced in the boiler steam drum production process and present the optimum manufacture method for the similar damage prevention of recurrence.
