  • This study is intended to come up with the Scale of the danger in the adolescents' school-dropout. The present dissertation developed the questions and collected them on the base of the potential variables, that consist of the school-dropout of adolescents, and the operational definition of each variable, through the verification of the precedent research and the review of the related literatures. In addition, the interviews for the teachers who have experienced the school-dropouts of adolescents are performed and are analyzed, and then the relevant questions were culled. The Scale developed in this study is composed of 48 questions and 10 factors. The questions which have the same factors and clustered are reflected, and then are discerned into 3 dimensions, that is, the outer attitude, the inner attitude, and the attitude of parents. The Scale of the danger in the adolescents' school-dropout which is contrived through this study is expected to prevent school-dropouts to teenagers and the teachers.

  • This study aims to provide implications for establishing support policies for students by empirically analyzing data on university students dropouts. To this end, data of students enrolled in D University after 2017 were sampled and collected. The collected data was analyzed using topic modeling(LDA: Latent Dirichlet Allocation) technique, which is a probabilistic model based on text mining. As a result of the study, it was found that topics that were characteristic of dropout students were found, and the classification performance between groups through topics was also excellent. Based on these results, a specific educational support system was proposed to prevent dropout of university students. This study is meaningful in that it shows the use of text mining techniques in the education field and suggests an education policy based on data analysis.

  • In this study, we wanted to examine the effects of social stigma on the psychological emotions of out-of-school youths and the mediating effects of parental emotional support in the relationship between these variables. To that end the National Youth Policy Institute dropout Youth Panel Survey of the Experimental (2017) 318 with data. The study method used the AMOS 7.0 program to check the suitability of the structural model and the significance of the direct and indirect effects. Through this study, we will first look at the relationship between social stigma and psychological sentiment of out-of-school youths, social stigma and parental emotional support. Second, we would like to examine how social stigma among out-of-school teens affects psychological sentiment. Third, we would like to examine the mediated effect of parental emotional support in the influence of social stigma on psychological sentiment of out-of-school youths. Based on the results of this study, we would like to support the existing prior studies related to out-of-school youth and further propose practical intervention measures that can be used in counseling and education sites. We would also like to discuss suggestions for further research.

  • This paper proposes a method in one-way layouts for longitudinal data with informative drop-out. When dropouts are informative, that is, correlated with unobserved data and/or the previous observed data, the simple imputation methods such as 'last observation carried forward' (LOCF) methods would arise the bias of the testing models. The maximum likelihood procedure combined with a logit model for the drop-out process is proposed to test treatment effects for one factorial designs and compared with LOCF method in two examples.

  • The current study investigated delinquent school- dropout adolescents and general dropouts' differences in individual, social factors and experiences after school dropout. Data was collected through a nationwide survey(N=209) from dropout adolescents. Findings reveal that gender, age, disabilities, work experience parent cohabitation, and residential area were significant in the individual factor. Dropout time, social agency, school return experience, and GED exam pass were significant in the social factors. Groups showed differences in experiences after dropout, and self evaluation while the general group had needs for vocational education. Dropouts wanted to go back to school. Implications such as focusing on differences of each group and developing various education system and policies are needed. Limitations and implications of the study are discussed.

  • Geosynchronous electron flux dropouts are most likely due to fast drift loss of the particles to the magnetopause (or equivalently, the "magnetopause shadowing effect"). A possible effect related to the drift loss is the radial diffusion of PSD due to gradient of PSD set by the drift loss effect at an outer L region. This possibly implies that the drift loss can affect the flux levels even inside the trapping boundary. We recently investigated the details of such diffusion process by solving the diffusion equation with a set of initial and boundary conditions set by the drift loss. Motivated by the simulation work, we have examined observationally the energy spectrum and pitch angle distribution near trapping boundary during the geosynchronous flux dropouts. For this work, we have first identified a list of geosynchronous flux dropout events for 2007-2010 from GOES satellite electron measurements and solar wind pressures observed by ACE satellite. We have then used the electron data from the Time History of Events and Macroscale Interactions during Substorms (THEMIS) spacecraft measurements to investigate the particle fluxes. The five THEMIS spacecraft sufficiently cover the inner magnetospheric regions near the equatorial plane and thus provide us with data of much higher spatial resolution. In this paper, we report the results of our investigations on the energy spectrum and pitch angle distribution near trapping boundary during the geosynchronous flux dropout events and discuss implications on the effects of the drift loss on the flux levels at inner L regions.

  • Since students' behaviors during e-learning are automatically stored in LMS(Learning Management System), the LMS log data convey the valuable information of students' engagement. The purpose of this study is to develop a prediction model of e-learning course dropout by utilizing LMS log data. Log data of 578 college students who registered e-learning courses in a traditional university were used for the logistic regression analysis. The results showed that attendance and study time were significant to predict dropout, and the model classified between dropouts and completers of e-learning courses with 96% accuracy. Furthermore, the feasibility of early detection of dropouts by utilizing the model were discussed.
