저속충격시 Ball 탄(5.56mm)의 형상변화에 관한 연구 (A Study on the shape deformation of ball projectile(5.56mm) under the low velocity impact)

  • This study investigated the shape deformation of ball projectile(5.56mn) under the low energy impact by the use of the drop weight impact tester. ball projectile(5.56mm) consisted of the copper face with a lead core. The impact conditions were changed with the variations of the mass and the drop height of the impact tup. Shape deformation of ball projectile(5.56mm) after low velocity impact was measured using a video microscope and CCD camera. The test result showed that impact energy by changing of drop height of the impact tup affected shape deformation of ball projectile(5.56mm). So, it is important to study the relativity between shape deformation of ball projectile(5.56mm) and ballistic protection of plate(such as hybrid composite laminates) under the high velocity impact.

낙추식 충격시험에 의한 CFRP 적층판의 강도평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Strength Assessment of CFRP Laminate Plates by Drop-Weight Impact Test)

  • In this study, a drop-weight impact tester was manufactured to assess the strength of CFRP laminate plates. The tests were conducted on several laminates of different ply orientation. A system for the impact strength of CFRP laminates was made considering stress wave propagation theory using drop-weight impact tester as one of impact test. Results indicate that absorbed energy of quasi-isotropic specimen, haying four interfaces is higher than that of orthotropic laminates with two interfaces. Absorbed energy in the specimen that ply number, interface number and fiber stacking sequences is same but having hybrid is higher than that of orthotropic laminates without hybrid.

섬유/금속 적층판의 저속 충격 거동 (Impact Behavior of Fiber/Metal Laminates (FMLs) under Low Velocity)

  • 섬유금속 적층판(FMLs)은 손상허용도를 향상시키고 무게를 줄이는데 적합하여 항공우주 응용의 신소재로 각광을 받고 있다. 본 연구에서는 우선 섬유와 알루미늄을 이용하여 적층판을 제조하여 인장시험을 수행 후 FMLs의 기계적 물성을 평가하였다. 또한 알루미늄과 섬유적층의 변화를 주어 낙추충격시험기(Drop Weight Impact Tester)를 이용하여 저속충격하에서 낙추 높이를 조절하여 각 종류의 시험편 마다 충격시간에 따른 하중과 충격흡수에너지를 각각 비교하였다. 추가로 유한요소해석을 이용하여 시험조건과 동일 조건하 인장과 충격거동해석을 수행한 결과를 실험치와 비교하여 실험과 이론해석이 잘 일치함을 보였다.

섬유강도와 적층구성이 CFRP적층판의 충격손상에 미치는 영향 (Influence of Fiber Strength and Stacking Sequences on Impact Damages of CFRP Composites)

  • This paper aims at the evaluation on the characterization of CFRP laminate plates using falling weight impact tester. The experimentation was conducted on several laminates of different fiber and ply orientation. A system was built for the impact strength of CFRP laminates in consideration of stress wave propagation with using drop-weight impact tester as one of impact test. Absorbed energy of orthotropic composites with using T300 fiber, which are composed of the same fiber and stacking number is higher than that or quasi-isotropic specimen over impact energy 7J, but in case or using T700 fiber, much difference does not show. Also, absorbed energy of orthotropic composites with using T300 fiber, which are composed or stacking number and orientation became more than that of T700 fiber specimen; however great change doesn't show in case of quasi-isotropic specimens. It is found that influence was confirmed between impact energy and absorbed energy as the impact energy is increased with adding the falling weight.

  • This paper presents the characteristics of the energy absorption in an expansion tube type impact absorber that is applied to a high weight drop tester and the use of a response surface methodology to predict the impact energy absorption. In order to identify the characteristics of the energy absorption, a set of finite element analysis was conducted with Abaqus Explicit. Moreover, the ISCD-II sampling method and a first order polynomial were used to build a response surface. As a result, we demonstrated that the impact energy could be controlled by four main design variables, namely an expansion pipe's thickness, inner radius, pressing die's expansion angle and expansion ratio. Additionally, we observed the relationship between the four main design variables and the impact energy absorbing time, displacement, and maximum impact force.

  • Impact tester was build up to evaluate the characterization of CFRP laminate plates under the low velocity impact. The tests were conducted on several laminates of different ply orientation A system was budded for the impact strength of CFRP laminates in consideration of stress wave propagation theory using drop-weight impact tester as one of impact test. Results indicate that absorbed energy of quasi-isotropic specimen having four interfaces is higher than that of orthotropic laminates with two interfaces. Also the damage area was measured with ultrasonic C-scanner on some samples. In the specimens the relationship was linear between damaged area and absorbed energy to some degree. Absorbed energy in the specimen that ply number, interface number and fiber stacking sequences is same but having hybrid is higher than that of orthotropic laminates without hybrid.

고낙하추 충격시험기를 이용한 스티칭된 샌드위치 복합재의 저에너지 충격거동 연구 (Impact Behaviors of Stitched Sandwich Composites Under Low Energy Impact Using Drop Weight Impact Tester)

  • 본 연구에서는 낙하추 방식의 충격시험기를 이용하여 스티칭된 샌드위치 복합재의 저에너지 충격거동을 조사하였다. 스티칭된 샌드위치 복합재는 유리섬유직물의 면재와 우레탄 폼의 코아로 구성되어 있으며 위쪽 면재와 아래쪽 면재는 폴리에스터 보강섬유로 코아의 두께방향을 따라 스티칭하여 일체형으로 결합되어 있다. 이때 코아의 두께가 충격거동에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위해 코아의 두께를 달리한 네 종류의 스티칭된 샌드위치 복합재를 고려하였다. 스티칭된 샌드위치 복합재에 작용되는 충격조건은 낙하추의 질량과 낙하추의 낙하높이를 조절함으로써 변화시켰다. 연구결과에 따르면 코아의 두께, 낙하추의 낙하높이, 그리고 낙하추의 질량 등의 변화는 스티칭된 샌드위치 복합재에서의 충격하중, 충격체와의 접촉시간, 면재에 형성된 변형율 등에 영향을 미침을 알 수 있었다. 또한 스티칭된 샌드위치 복합재는 스티칭부의 보강효과로 인해 손상을 억제시킬 분 아니라 손상이 발생한 경우에도 구조물로서 역할을 담당할 수 있다. 그러나 스티칭된 샌드위치 복합재를 효율적으로 기존의 구조물에 적용하기 위해서는 스티칭부에서의 수지함침성을 개선할 수 있는 제작공법의 연구가 필요하다.

낙하 충격 시험에 의한 저밀도 2-D탄소/탄소 복합재의 충격파괴거동 (The Impact fracture Behaviors of Low Density LD Carbon/Carbon Composites by Drop Weight Impact Test)

  • 저밀도 2-D 탄소/탄소 복합재료의 저속 충격에 의한 파괴 거동과 첨가제에 따른 충격 에너지 흡수 경향을 연구하였다. 저속 충격시험은 mini tower 낙추 충격 시험기를 이용하였으며, 흑연, 카본블랙, 분쇄탄소섬유를 첨가제로 선택하였다. 흑연의 첨가는 최대하중값을 증가시켰으며, 전체적인 관통이 일어나기까지 응력을 오랫동안 유지시키는 효과를 나타내었다. 특히 9 vol%의 함량에서 흑연이 첨가되지 않은 씨편보다 약 42%의 충격 흡수 개선을 보였다. 약 0.4 J의 낮은 충격에너지에 의한 충격 회수에 따른 실험에서 첨가제가 첨가되지 않은 시편의 경우, 충격에너지는 층간분리에 의해 소모되고, 흑연의 함량이 증가함에 따라 파괴 경향은 시편의 관통으로 변화함을 관찰할 수 있었다.

SCMH2 고속회전축재의 표면처리조건에 따른 VHCF 피로특성에 관한 연구 (VHCF Characteristics of SCMH2 Steel Depending on the Surface Treatment Conditions)

  • SCMH2 steel is widely used in the industrial members of car and tractor. This study focused on material properties and evaluation technology of the SCMH2 steel regarding the surface treatment followed by carburizing and nitriding, by means of impact test, hardness test. and fatigue test including HCF (high cycle fatigue) and VHCF (very high cycle fatigue). Drop weight impact tester (Instron, 9250 Hv) and Cantilever type rotating-bending fatigue tester (YRB200, 3150 rpm) were used to characterize the SCMH2 standard specimen before and after carburizing/nitriding. In order to understand those effects on fatigue characteristics and material properties, the fractured surfaces were carefully observed and analyzed by SEM (scanning electron microscope) and EDS (energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy).

  • Low-velocity impact damage is a major concern in the design of structures made of composite materials, because impact damage is hidden inside and cannot be detected by visual inspection. The piezoelectric thin film sensor can be used to detect variations in structural and material properties for structural health monitoring. In this paper, the PVDF and PZT sensors were used for monitoring impact damage initiation in Gr/Ep composite panel to illustrate this potential benefit. A series of impact test at various impact energy by changing impact mass and height is performed on the instrumented drop weight impact tester. The wavelet transform(WT) is used to decompose the piezoelectric sensor signals in this study. Test results show that the particular waveform of sensor signals implying the damage initiation and development are detected above the damage initiation impact energy. And it is found that both PZT and PVDF sensors can be used to detect the impact damage.
