  • In this paper we have designed the signal processing system for driving the Poly-Si TFT LCD of EWS. The signal processing system consist of timing controller, ramp signal generator and video signal processing system. Timing controller includes the top-down inversion. left right inversion, left-right shifting and control signal generator according to multi-source signal. The video signal processing system generates sawtooth-shaped waveform by using PROM and DAC for multi-gray scales and implements gamma correction function for compensating the TFT-LCD nonlinear charcteristic of the TFT-LCD. Finally we have discussed the experiment results and its application according to the designed TFT-LCD driving system.

In this paper, the design and implementation of FMCW radar based on two chip MMIC developed as an autonomous driving sensor was described. Especially, generation of frame-based and chirp-based waveform generation and signal processing are mixed to have the strength of maximum detection speed and compensation of speed. This implemented system was analyzed for performance and commercialization potential through lab. test and driving test in K-city.

  • A novel converter-free AC LED driver that is highly resistant to the fluctuation of AC voltage is proposed in this study. By removing large passive components, such as the bulky capacitor and the large-value inductor, the integration of the driver circuit is enhanced while the driving current remains stable. The proposed circuit provides LED lamps with a driving current that can follow the sinusoid waveform to obtain a very high power factor (PF) and low total harmonic distortion (THD). The LED input current produced by this driving current is insensitive to fluctuations in the AC voltage. Users will thus not feel that LED lamps are flashing during the fluctuation. Experiment results indicate that the proposed system can obtain PF of 0.999 and THD as low as 3.3% for a five-string 6 W LED load under 220 V at 50 Hz.

  • Various approaches were undertaken by major PDP makers in order to improve the luminous efficacy of the plasma discharge cells. There have been many reports that state that using a high Xe content PDP is one of the most promising key technologies available to improve the luminous efficacy. In the case of the higher Xe content panel, the higher address and sustain voltage were needed to drive the panel under the same reset condition. In this study, a variety of Xe content panels were investigated in order to examine wall voltage transfer behaviors. The transferred wall voltage status after addressing discharge at the same driving condition was analyzed by comparing Vt close curve of high and low Xe content panels. Through this analysis of Vt close curve difference, the driving waveform of a high Xe panel was quantitatively adjusted Under the same address voltage condition, results showed that the amount of the transferred wall voltage and Vt close curve after addressing discharge was matched for the first sustain discharge. Taking these results into consideration, we conclude that the driving waveform for different Xe content panels could be designed for the desired addressing discharge condition and the wall voltage state of the cell could be quantitatively controlled and measured through these approaches.

  • AC PDP with MgO protective layer coated with the optimum evaporation rate of $5{\AA}/s$ can generate more enhanced efficiency through the vacuum in-line sealing process. However, the optimized process conditions still require the optimum driving scheme on the ramp-up and ramp-down slope of the reset waveform for enhancing the efficiency. In this paper, for the in-situ vacuum sealed PDP with the optimum evaporation rate of MgO protective layer, the address delay time was investigated with various slopes of ramp waveform during a reset ramp-up and ramp-down period. In this study, the minimum statistical delay time was obtained at the ramp-up rate of $6.0 V/{\mu}s$ and the ramp-down rate of $0.7 V/{\mu}s$ of the reset waveform.

  • In the variable speed driving system of a three phase induction motor controlled by a PWM inverter, the output terminal contains considerable amount of harmonic components of the voltage waveform due to the switching action of semiconductor devices, causing torque ripples, acoustic noise and oscillation of the motor. This paper describes a new algorithm which eliminates the harmonics and controls the fundamental voltage in three phase PWM inverter output waveform. The new algorithm utilizes the technique of particular harmonics elimination (PHE) by walsh series in three phase PWM inverter output waveform. A microprocessor (8086 CPU)-controlled three phase induction motor system is described to realize this algorithm. The system is designed for 3 phase output voltage in the 1-60Hz interval where 5th and 7th harmonics, and 5th, 7th, 11th, and 13th harmonics are eliminated. Also, the fundamental wave amplitude is designed to be proportional to the output frequency. The performance of the proposed method shows sufficient elimination of the harmonics and also reduction of computation time which determines switching pattern. The proposed PWM pattern by Walsh series, is effective not only to induction motors but also to other electromagetic equipments such as voltage regulators and UPS.

  • In this paper, we present a new reset waveform for a large-sustain-gap structure in at PDPs. In the driving of the large-sustain-gap structure with a conventional ramp reset waveform, we cannot avoid the condition of an address being a cathode, which causes lots of trouble in stabilizing a reset discharge. To solve these problems, we use the square pulse instead of the conventional rising ramp pulse. Before making a strong discharge between the address (cathode) and scan (anode) electrodes, we make a priming discharge between the address (anode) and the scan (cathode) electrodes to stabilize the strong discharge in which the address electrodes are the cathode. With this scheme, we obtained 60V minimum address voltage and 145V maximum address voltage in $250{\mu}m$ and $350{\mu}m$ gap structures.

  • New driving waveform which can be inferred by analyzing fundamental LC mechanism is suggested. The main idea of the new waveform is the stabilizing LC layer fast in the cell by controlling the middle director of LC layer. Consequently, we can get not only numerical reduction of optical response merely but also the change of dynamic transmittance from applied voltage exactly

  • This paper presents a method of improving the power factor and , the waveform of A.C line currents and the output waveforms of AC to DC fully bridge converter systems which is achieved by connecting CON I.II and CON III.IV in series and parallel. The basic principle of the CON I.II.III.IV's operation is simple and feasibility of thease converter is proved by experiments. CON I and CON III are constructed of natural commutation, CON II and CON IV are constructed of forced commutation. The experimental results show that the power factor and waveform of the source currents and the output waveforms are improved by the method of connecting converter in series and parallel and driving it in I, II, III, IV quadrant.

  • This paper presents Single Phase Switched Reluctance Motor (SPSRM) optimum design for vacuum cleaners using Response Surface Methodology (RSM) to determine geometric parameters, and the 2-D Finite Element Method (FEM) has been coupled with the circuit equations of the driving converter. Additionally, an optimum process for SPSRM has been proposed and peformed with geometric and electric parameters thereby influencing the inductance variation and effective torque generation as design variables. SPSRM performances have also been analyzed to determine an optimal design model for maximized efficiency at high power factor. In order to confirm the propriety of the Finite Element Method and motor performance calculation, simulation waveform and experiment waveform for motor voltage and current were compared.
