A Fabrication and Experiment of Induction-type EHD Micropump with Temperature Gradient (온도차를 이용한 유도형 마이크로 EHD 펌프의 제작 및 실험)

  • This paper represents the experimental results of electrohrdrodynamic(EHD) micropump driven by traveling- wave voltage. We fabricated 60 electrodes array with $100{\mu}m$ width and $100{\mu}m$ interval on the pyrex glass. On that glass we fabricated the micro channel which had the cross section of 3mm by 0.5mm. This pump was driven by 6 phase square traveling-wave voltage. We used the corn oil for experiments and increased the temperature of fluid by resistive heater. An optical microscope with CCD camera and monitor was used for observation. The fluid velocity was large for the large driving voltage and the high temperature. This EHD pump had the fluid velocity in specific frequency (near 1Hz) which had relation to the charge relaxation time in that oil.

  • This paper presents a motor drive IC for automotive applications. The drive IC is dedicated to control and drive external MOSFETs which directly drive 3-phase motor with a high current. In case of driving high-side power switches, the bootstrap topology is widely used. However, it requires three bootstrap diode and three capacitor respectively. And it needs a minimum charging time to maintain high-side voltage. The motor drive IC uses a charge-pump circuit for all three high-side voltage with various protection schemes for automotive applications.

  • A new pixel driving method for organic light-emitting diode (OLED) flat-panel display (FPD) is proposed. The new charge-pump passive-matrix pixel driver consists only of a storage capacitance and a rectifying diode, and no thin-film transistor (TFT) is needed. The new driver not only supplies a constant current to the OLED throughout the whole period of panel scanning like an active-matrix driver, but also provides a highly linear gray-scale control through a pure digital manner.

  • V-belt pulleys play a key role in driving cooling pump, oil pump, air-conditioner and so on by using an engine power. Precision deep drawing is one of the main processes for manufacturing the pulleys. Operation variables of the deep drawing equipment, called the setup parameter, must be re-determined whenever the specifications of pulley to be produced are changed. The defect rates during a setup of equipment and the working hours needed for the setup are almost dependent on workers' know-how. This study designs the program for easily determining setup conditions in pulley manufacturing process.

  • A bootstrap circuit for floating power supply has the advantage of being simple and inexpensive. However, the duty cycle and on-time are limited by the requirement to refresh the charge in the bootstrap capacitor. Hence, this paper deals with a design of charge pump circuit for a floating gate power supply of an IPM. The operation of the proposed circuit applied by three-phase inverter system for driving induction motor are verified through the experiments.

  • This paper presents a new method for including the dynamic stiffness of the stationary parts in rotordynamic analysis. As a consequence of the support dynamics, critical speeds are varied and/or additional critical speeds are introduced. Therefore, dynamic effects of the support are often significant in high speed turbomachinery, but most of analysis has considered the support as a rigid body or a simple structure. The proposed method is based on the coupled characteristics of the driving point and transfer frequency response functions of the support system to model the equivalent spring-mass series in finite element analysis. To demonstrate the applicability of the simulation procedures provided, it is applied to the rotor model of the double suction centrifugal pump. Results of the suggested equivalent-support rotor model including coupled effects agree well with the entire pump model.

  • Force-controlled electro-hydrostatic actuators have to exhibit high backdrivability, to quickly compensate for force control errors caused by externally disturbed rod movement. To obtain high backdrivability, the servomotor for driving the hydraulic pump, should rotate exactly to such a revolution to compensate for force control errors, compressing or decompressing cylinder chambers. In this study, we proposed a modified velocity control structure, including a robust internal-loop compensator (RIC)-based velocity controller, for the servomotor to improve backdrivability of a force-controlled EHA. Performance improvement was confirmed experimentally, wherein sinusoidal velocity disturbance was applied to the force-controlled EHA, with constant reference input. Its dynamic force control errors reduced effectively, with the proposed control scheme, compared to test results with a conventional motordriver, for motor velocity control.

  • Soft fluidic actuators (SFAs) are widely utilized in various areas such as wearable systems due to the inherent compliance which allows safe and flexible interaction. However, SFA-driven systems generally require a large pump, multiple valves and tubes, which hinders to develop a miniaturized system with small range of motion. Thus, a highly integrated soft actuator needs to be developed for implementing a compact SFA-driven system. In this study, we propose an electro-hydraulic soft zipping actuator that can be used as a miniature pump. This actuator exerts tactile force as a dielectric liquid contained inside the actuator pressurized its deformable part. In addition, the proposed actuator can estimate the internal dielectric liquid thickness by using its self-sensing function. Besides, the electrical characteristics and driving performance of the proposed system were verified through experiments.

  • In this paper, we describe the developed learning tool of expert system for preventive diagnosis of substation power equipments. The expert system was programmed by using the diagnosis methods as like gas analysis in oil and partial discharge, hottest temperature, the current of OLTC driving meter, the current of fan and pump in MTr and driving coil current in GCB and leakage current in LA. The learning tool is composed of the expert system and the explanation of diagnosed examples and the applied rules and it well worked according to the rule.

  • In this paper, the details of electronically controlled CVT is described , which Kia Motor company recently developed in prototype form for hybrid passenger car. This transmission has two input shafts, one for engine and the other for traction motor. The shaft for traction motor is located at rear side which is extended from primary pulley shaft and connected to traction motor through adapter gear box. Adopting two input system, various driving mode is available such as motor alone driving in hybrid vehicle application. As far as electrohydraulic system concerned , this transmission uses two bleed type variable force solenoids for line pressure and ratio control, and one on-off solenoid for clutch control. Another feature for this transmission is that oil pump for transmission is separate from CVT for supplying oil pressure even at vehicle standstill.
