A Symbolic Computation Method for Automatic Generation of a Full Vehicle Model Simulation Code for a Driving Simulator

  • This paper deals with modeling and computer simulation of a full multibody vehicle model for a driving simulator. The multibody vehicle model is based on the recursive formulation and a corresponding simulation code is generated automatically from AUTOCODE, which is a symbolic computation package developed by the authors using MAPLE. The paper describes a procedure for automatically generating a highly efficient simulation code for the full vehicle model, while incorporating realistically modeled components. The following issues have been accounted for in the procedure, including software design for representing a mechanical system in symbolic form as a set of computer data objects, a multibody formulation for systems with various types of connections between bodies, automatic manipulation of symbolic expressions in the multibody formulation, interface design for allowing users to describe unconventional force-and torque-producing components, and a method for accommodating external computer subroutines that may have already been developed. The effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed method have been demonstrated by the simulation code developed and implemented for driving simulation.

  • The antiferroelectric liquid crystal display (AFLCD) is unique display that can show the perfect moving image using the passive matrix driving scheme. We optimized the driving waveform and introduced the dual driving method. Also, by improving this driving method and using line inversion method, we realized AFLC display with high image quality, which has 160(RGB)${\times}$240, 32768colors, crosstalk free and flicker free. The contrast ratio is greater than 60:1, and the brightness is above 200cd/$m^2$.

  • In this paper, we present a usable method of driving path in automatic guidance vehicle(AGV). The AGV is precisely driving to follow reference route. The Phileas in Netherland and Bi-modal tram in Korea have one wheel for the each side because of all wheels steering. For this reason, the loading area of wheels is very small. It is a disadvantage for asphalt load. The precise route tracking of vehicle can distort the flexible asphalt load. In this paper, we propose a driving method for alleviation of distortion on asphalt load.

  • This paper proposes a robust control design method for improving the cornering stability of a personal electric vehicle equipped with in-wheel motors. In general, vehicles undergo severe parameter variations and unpredictable disturbances with respect to a wide range of driving conditions (e.g., road surface conditions and vehicle velocity conditions). For this reason, robust control design techniques are required to guarantee consistent driving performances and robustness against various driving conditions. In this paper, an adaptive sliding mode control method is employed to enhance cornering stability by controlling the direct-drive in-wheel motors independently. Additionally, in order to confirm the effectiveness of a proposed control method, real driving tests with an experimental personal electric vehicle are performed.

  • Comparative analysis of driving inverters for piezo-electric transformer (PT) is performed and the suit- able drive circuit for portable devices such as personal digital assistants (PDA) is chosen with the experiment in this paper. As a result, a single-switch inverter with a small two winding reactor is chosen, and then the advantages of this method are clarified. It is also confirmed that the driving inverter with this method enables to realize a stabilized AC 400v output and 82% power efficiency from DC 3V input under the conditions of the variations of load current or input voltage from the experiments.   • A driving load estimation method for intelligent cruise control(ICC) vehicles has been proposed in this paper. The driving load is one of the most important factors of perturbations in vehicle control and can affect the control performance critically. The Effect of the control with driving load estimation on vehicle-to-vehicle distance control has been presented and investigated via computer simulations and vehicle tests. The results show that the control with driving load estimation can provide ICC system with a good acceleration tracking performance. In addition, the results show that driving load estimation can compensate not only variation of driving load but also the modeling errors.

  • In recent years, attempts have been made to greatly improve the display quality of active-matrix liquid crystal display devices, and many techniques have been proposed to solve such problems as gate signal delay, feed-through voltage and image sticking. To improve these problems which are caused by the fried-through voltage, we have evaluated new driving methods to reduce the fled-through voltage. Two level gate-pulse was used for the gate driving of the cst-on-common structure pixels. And two-gate line driving methods with the optimized gate signals were applied for the cst-on-gate structure pixels. These gate driving methods were better feed-through characteristics than conventional simple gate pulse. The evaluation of the suggested driving methods were performed by using a TFT-LCD array simulator PDAST which can simulate the gate, data and pixel voltages of a certain pixel at any time and at any location on a TFT array. The effect of the new driving method was effectively analyzed.

  • With the recent advancement of control method and battery technology, the electric vehicle have been researched to replace the conventional vehicle with electric vehicle with the view point of the environmental concerns and energy conservation. An electric vehicle which is equipped with the independent front steering system and in-wheel motors has advantage in terms of control. For example, the different torque which generated by left and right wheels directly can make yaw moment and the independent steering using outer wheel control is able to reduce the sideslip angle. Using of independent steering and driving system, the 4 wheel electric vehicle can improve a performance better than conventional vehicle. In this paper, we consider the method for improving the cornering performance of independent front steering system and in-wheel motor used electric vehicle with the compensated outer wheel angle and direct yaw moment control. Simulation results show that the method can improve the cornering performance of 4 wheel electric vehicle. We also apply the steering motor failure to steer the vehicle turned by the torque difference without steering. This paper describes an independent front steering and driving, consist of three parts; Vehicle Model, Control Algorithm for independent steering and driving and simulation. First, vehicle model is application of TruckSim software for independent front steering and 4 wheel driving. Second, control algorithm describes the reduced sideslip and direct yaw moment method in view of cornering performance. Last is simulation and verification.

안전하고 효과적인 자율주행을 위한 불확실성 순차 모델링 (Uncertainty Sequence Modeling Approach for Safe and Effective Autonomous Driving)

  • 심층강화학습은 자율주행 도메인에서 널리 사용되는 end-to-end 데이터 기반 제어 방법이다. 그러나 기존의 강화학습 접근 방식은 자율주행 과제에 적용하기에는 비효율성, 불안정성, 불확실성 등의 문제로 어려움이 존재한다. 이러한 문제들은 자율주행 도메인에서 중요하게 작용한다. 최근의 연구들은 이런 문제를 해결하고자 많은 시도가 이루어지고 있지만 계산 비용이 많고 특별한 가정에 의존한다. 본 논문에서는 자율주행 도메인에 불확실성 순차 모델링이라는 방법을 도입하여 비효율성, 불안정성, 불확실성을 모두 고려한 새로운 알고리즘 MCDT를 제안한다. 강화학습을 높은 보상을 얻기 위한 의사 결정 생성 문제로 바라보는 순차 모델링 방식은 기존 연구의 단점을 회피하고 효율성과 안정성을 보장하며, 여기에 불확실성 추정 기법을 융합해 안전성까지 고려한다. 제안 방법은 OpenAI Gym CarRacing 환경을 통해 실험하였고 실험 결과는 MCDT 알고리즘이 기존의 강화학습 방법에 비해 효율적이고 안정적이며 안전한 성능을 내는 것을 보인다.

RESEARCH ON MODULARIZED DESIGN AND PERFORMANCE ASSESSMENT BASED ON MULTI-DRIVER OFF-ROAD VEHICLE DRIVING-LINE

  • The multi-driver off-road vehicle drive-line consists of many components, with close connections among them. In order to design and analyze the drive-line efficiently, a modular methodology should be taken. The aim of a modular approach to the modeling of complex systems is to support behavior analysis and simulation in an iterative and thus complex engineering process, by using encapsulated submodels of components and of their interfaces. Multi-driver off-road vehicles are comparatively complicated. The driving-line is an important core part to the vehicle, it has a significant contribution to the performance. Multi-driver off-road vehicles have complex driving-lines, so performance is heavily dependent on the driving-line. A typical off-road vehicle's driving-line system consists of a torque converter, transmission, transfer case and driving-axles, which transfers the power generated by the engine and distributes it effectively to the driving wheels according to the road condition. According to its main function, this paper proposes a modularized approach for design and evaluation of the vehicle's driving-line. It can be used to effectively estimate the performance of the driving-line during the concept design stage. Through an appropriate analysis and assessment method, an optimal design can be reached. This method has been applied to practical vehicle design, it can improve the design efficiency and is convenient to assess and validate the performance of a vehicle, especially of multi-driver off-road vehicles.
