Electrical Characteristics of Piezoelectric Transformer for Driving A 28W Fluorescent Lamp (28W(T5) 형광등 구동용 압전트랜스포머의 전기적 특성)

  • In this study, contour-vibration-mode Pb($Ni_{1/2}$,$W_{1/2}$)$O_3$-Pb(Zr,Ti)$O_3$ piezoelectric transformers for driving a 28W(T5) fluorescent lamp were fabricated to the modified filter structure with ring and dot electrodes which has been developed for application in 455kHz AM radios. The piezoelectric transformers were fabricated to the size of $31.5$\times$31.5$\times$2.5$mm^3$ with the variations of ring/dot electrode area ratio. Driving of piezoelectric transformer was carried out with input region for the ring electrode and output region for the dot electrode. The electrical properties and characteristic temperature rises caused by the vibration were measured at various load resistances. A 28 W fluorescent lamp, T5, was successfully driven by the fabricated transformer. The transformer with ring/dot electrode area ratio of 1.83 exhibited the best properties in terms of output power, efficiency and characteristic temperature rise, 30.95 W, 97.57% and8.3$^{\circ}C$ respectively.

  • Some people who take a driver's license test retake it again because of license cancellation, but most of them take the test for the first time to drive the car. Driving a car is directly linked to life, and the initial correct driving habits are more important than anything else. In particular, it is very important to obtain a license by evaluating the correct driving ability based on objective and fair standards when learning the first driving, because many people acquire a driving license while entering the society for the first time. In this paper, we propose the S / W design and its main functions that can emit high quality drivers through efficient, fair and accurate automated scoring. Through this, it is proposed to improve the automatic grading driver's license system, to prevent traffic accidents, and to reduce traffic accidents through proper driving.

Comparative Analysis of Driving Methods According to Electrical Conduction Angle of Inverter for PMSM (영구자석형 동기전동기 구동용 인버터의 통전각에 따른 운전 방식의 비교 분석)

  • In this study, the sinusoidal-wave driving method, six-step driving method, and twelve-step driving method, which can be used in an inverter for permanent-magnet synchronous motors, were simulated, and the results were compared to review their operating performance. These driving methods were classified according to the electrical conduction angle and phase current of the motor. Conventionally, only the transition control technique between the sinusoidal-wave driving method and six-step driving method was studied for the efficiency of the inverter. In this paper, however, comparative analysis was focused on a variety of transition control applications to use the advantages of each driving method. For this purpose, computer simulations for these driving methods were carried out to obtain the motor torque, speed control characteristics, and THD of the motor phase currents. As a result, the sinusoidal-wave driving method showed the best performance in all respects. The six-step driving method has better speed control characteristics than the twelve-step driving method, and the twelve-step driving method has a lower THD of the motor phase currents than the six-step driving method.

  • The high efficiency and high power inverter for driving LCD backlight was designed and fabricated. The operating frequency was variable and dimming capability was also included. High dimming ratio could be achieved by PWM dimming. The optimum driving condition for LCD backlight could be obtained by using the excited type inverter.

  • The electrooptic characteristics of 32-inch multichannel-structured, mercury-type flat fluorescent lamps have been investigated in detail. The luminance and the lamp current/voltage have been monitored by changing the driving conditions such as duty ratio, backlight conditions. It was found that the efficiency became the maximum at the duty ratio of 50 % with a nearby metal plate.

  • Driving generator of USMs(ultrasonic motors) with low noise, high efficiency was designed and fabricated. It was focused on merits such as size-reduction, thermal resistance, To control revolution speed, input frequency was varied. Output of generator had frequency range of 39.1 ∼ 43.5 MHz and voltage of 120 V. USM with resonant frequency 40.3 kHz exhibited a maximum torque of 2.5 kg $.$ cm and a maximum revolution speed of about 130 rpm.

  • The switched reluctance motor (SRM) drive system provides a good adjustable speed characteristics. But driving of SRM is nonlinear changed according to rotor position angle and phase current because of saturation in magnetic circuit, and it is difficult to drive the high efficiency. This paper proposes find point of high efficiency in variable load that are used to control switch-on/off angles and input voltage.

  • We demonstrated high power efficiency and long lifetime in organic light-emitting diode (OLED) using new electron transport materials (ETMs). Electroluminescent device with these ETMs showed lower driving voltage than that with $Alq_3$. The device lifetime with a new ETM was 2 times longer than that with $Alq_3$.

  • The traction drive has advantages of having high efficiency and transmitting the power without blacklash. However, when high ratio of speed reduction is desired, excessively large size is required. In this study, a new type of traction drive is invented, designed and manufactured so that stable speed reduction mech- anisms are available by adopting a cross roller type drive. It has a simple structure, but produces high speed reduction ratio. Power loss is observed, and also, driving torque and torque transfer efficiency are calculated. Pre-loads are needed in order that the traction drive transfers power without slipping, and the spacer is enlarged due to the pre-loading. After all, the key point of pre-load mechanism is that the spacer's diameter becomes larger as pre-loads are applied.

  • This paper presents a simple torque estimation method and switching angle control of Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) using Neural Network (NN). SRM has gaining much interest as industrial applications due to the simple structure and high efficiency. Adaptive switching angle control is essential for the optimal driving of SRM because of the driving characteristic varies with the load and speed. The proper switching angle which can increase the efficiency was investigated in this paper. NN was adapted to regulate the switching angle and nonlinear inductance modelling. Experimental result shows the validity of the switching angle controller.
