저전력 DRAM 구현을 위한 boosted voltage generator에 관한 연구 (A study on the design of the boosted voltage cenerator for low power DRAM)

  • In this paper, a new scheme of a boosted voltage generator (BVG) is designed for low powr DRAM's. The designed BVG can supply stable $V_{pp}$ using a new circuit operting method. This method controls charge pumping capability by switching the supply voltage and ring oscillator frequency of driving circuit, so the BVG can save area and reduce the powr dissipation during $V_{pp}$ maintaining period. The charge pumping circuit of the BVG suffers no $V_{T}$ loss and is to be applicable to low-voltage DRAM's. $V_{pp}$ level detecting circuit can detect constant value of $V_{pp}$ against temperature variation. The level of $V_{pp}$ varies -0.55%~0.098% during its maintaining period. Charge pumping circuit can make $V_{pp}$ level up to 2.95V with $V_{cc}$ =1.5V. The degecting level of $V_{pp}$ level detecting circuit changes -0.34% ~ 0.01% as temperature varies from -20 to 80.deg. C. The powr dissipation during V.$_{pp}$ maintaining period is 4.1mW.W.1mW.

  • 구형파 BLDC (Brushless DC) 전동기를 구동시키기 위해서는 전동기의 회전자 위치에 대한 정보를 아는 것이 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 회전자 위치를 검출하기 위해 일반적으로 사용되는 홀센서나 엔코더를 이용하지 않고 각상을 저항으로 Y결선하여 만들어지는 단자의 전압에 포함되어 있는 역기전력을 클램프 회로를 통한 필터회로를 이용하여 전동기의 회전자 위치를 검출하는 구형파 BLDC 전동기를 위한 센서리스 드라이브 시스템을 제안한다. 특히 본 논문에서 제안한 새로운 역기전력 증폭 제한 회로를 통한 필터회로를 구성하여 저속영역에서 센서리스를 특성을 개선하였다. 그리고 이를 실제로 100[W]급 BLDC 구동용 프로토 타입 드라이브를 제작하여 제안된 역기전력 증폭 제한 회로의 타당성 검증하였다.

  • [ $0.25{\mu}m$ ] N-well CMOS 공정기술을 이용하여 전류 구동형 A/D 변환기 회로를 설계하였다. 설계된 회로도에는 트랜스컨덕턴스(transconductance), 선형 폴더(folder) 회로 및 1 비트 A/D 변환기로 구성되어 있다. 트렌스컨덕턴스 회로를 이용하여 입력전압을 전류로 변환시킨 후 변환된 전류신호를 이용하여 선형성이 매우 양호한 폴더 회로를 얻을 수 있었다. 폴더 회로를 다단으로 종속접속시킴으로써 n비트 A/D 변환기로 확장할 수 있다. 본 연구에서 설계된 A/D 변환기는 대략 25MSPS으로 구동할 수 있는 6비트 A/D 변환기 회로이다.

  • For the purpose of treating health checkups and recovery of patients in a super-aged society, hospitals use devices designed with a reduction circuit of electromagnetic waves associated with the specific absorption rate of electromagnetic waves absorbed by the human body. In this paper, we proposed a filter improvement design method capable of reducing electromagnetic waves. As a result of confirming the validity of the proposed technique through simulation and experimental results, the following result values were obtained. Applying the common-mode (CM) inductor 4 mH to a calibration circuit, noise decreased in a multiband spectrum. Using the differential mode(DM) inductor 40 µH element in the primary calibration circuit, the noise decreased by 15 dB or more in the 3 MHz band spectrum. Also, applying the Admittance Capacitance (Y-Cap) 10 nF element in the secondary calibration circuit resulted in the decrease by more than 30 dB in the band spectrum before 2 MHz. After using a common-mode inductor 4 mH element in the tertiary calibration circuit, it decreased by more than 15 dB in the band spectrum after 2 MHz.

적층압전변압기의 전기적 특성 (Electrical properties of multilayer piezoelectric transformer)

  • A multilayer piezoelectric transformer (MPT) which generates a high voltage dc power with low driving voltage and high voltage setup ratio was made by the tape casting method. The measured electrical characteristics of the MPT agreed with the results simulated from the equivalent circuit of the MPT. With increasing the number of layer in the MPT, the resonance curve of the input cur-rent revealed an asymmetry due to the increasing input capacitance, while that of output dc voltages revealed symmetry. The MPT which has very thin layer was excellently characterized as low driving voltage and high voltage setup ratio. The output dc voltage is nonlinearly influenced by the number of layer in the MPT.

  • In case of chopper control is used for the d.c motor In the electric vehicle(EV) in general step down chopper is used for the driving and the step-up chopper is used for the regeneration. Bilateral variable ratio chopper system(BVRCS) formed by parallel combination of upper two chopper methods step-down, step-up and step-up/down chopper operations by duty cycle, circuit element and driving condition. In this paper, BVRCS is proposed for the simulated and experimented control of d.c motor in the EV. By the result of simulation BVRCS represents same driving power compared to the step-down and excellent breaking power compared to the step-up chopper system because of the greater motor current.

  • Nonlinear parameterization of OLED device from measurements of bias dependence of impedance spectra and parameter extraction using Levenberg-Marquardt complex nonlinear least square regression algorithm based on resistor-capacitor equivalent circuit model enables computer simulation of OLED power driving characteristics in forms of square-wave or sinusoidal output signal at arbitrary conditions. We introduce developed OLED power driving simulation software and discuss transient responses in voltage-or current-controlled operations as well as nonlinear characteristics of OLED, by presenting both the simulation and experimental results. This OLED simulation technique using impedance spectroscopy is extremely useful in predicting performance of the nonlinear device, especially in time-domain analysis of device operation.

  • Generally, brushless DC motor(BLDCM) driving system uses hall sensors or encoders as the mechanical position or speed sensors. It is necessary to achieve the informations of rotor position for driving trapezoidal type brushless DC motor without any position sensor. This paper proposes a sensorless driving system with rotor absolute position detector circuit which acquires both commutate phase and commutate time by analyzing motor phase voltages. Proposed system is applied to a 10k[W] rating motor which actually used in electrical vehicles of HONDA co.,ltd. The experimental results will show the validity of the proposed system and the practical use of proposed sensorless drive algorithm.

  • This paper analyzes the electro-mechanical characteristics of the spindle motor in a computer hard disk drive due to the trapezoidal and sinusoidal driving methods. The driving circuit equation is modified by considering the switching action of PWM inverter, and is coupled with the Maxwell equation for the analysis of the magnetic field. Mechanical motion of a rotor is calculated by solving Newton-Euler equation. Electro-mechanical excitation and dynamic response are characterized by analyzing the free response of a rotating rotor and Fourier analysis of the excitation force.

A CMOS Complementary Bridge Rectifier for Driving RFID Transponder Chips

  • In this paper, a CMOS complementary bridge rectifier for driving RFID transponder chips is presented. The proposed RFID CMOS complementary bridge rectifier is designed with two NMOSs at the input, which are configured by cross-connected gate structures, and two PMOSs and two NMOSs at the output, which are configured by diode-connected MOS structures. Output characteristics of the proposed rectifier are analyzed with the high frequency small-signal equivalent circuit and verified with SPICE for RFID operating frequencies of 13.56 MHz HF for ISO 18000-3, 915MHz UHF for ISO 18000-6, and 2.45 GHz microwave for ISO 18000-4. Simulation results show well-rectified and high enough DC output voltages for driving the low power microchip in the RFID transponder for the frequency range from HF to microwave. DC output voltages are dropped by only around 0.7 V from the input peak-to-peak voltages.
