  • 본 연구에서는 기계요소중에서도 그 성능에 미치는 인자의 수가 많고 또 그 영향이 복잡하고 난해하며 아직도 경험적 요소가 수많이 남아있으면서도 공업적으로 매우 중요한 동력전달용 치차장치를 예로 들어 그 설계, 제작, 손상 및 트러블슈팅을 하기 위한 엑스퍼트시스템을 개발하려고 한다.

  • Servo drives with microcomputer control provide the possibility of using modem and sophisticated control algorithms. As an additional feature it is possible to implement parallel and/or redundant software and hardware structures to realise safe motion or similar security functions. Unfortunately microcomputer control also has some impact on the behaviour of servo drives. Control algorithm, cycle time, sensors and interface have to be perfectly synchronised. Special control schemes are necessary on the line side (power supply) to meet the actual requirements concerning EMC. This contribution presents experiences and results obtained from a modem digital drive system pointing out the influences of low and high accuracy position sensors and the interdependencies mentioned above.

  • Recent trends and the effect of mechanical vibrations in optical disk drives are reviewed in this paper. The Nation from CD drives to high density DVD drives and the development of writable optical disk drives require tighter mechanical tolerance. The demand for faster access time and higher data transfer rate also leads to critical mechanical problems to limit the tracking and focusing servo performance. The current mechanical issues to limit the performance of the drives and various technologies to overcome the mechanical problems are introduced. Vibrations of disk-spindle system, actuator and suspension designs of the optical pick-up, and general mechanical designs for the fast and stable access mechanism are considered.

  • High-performance Current Source Inverter (CSI)-fed, variable speed alternating current drives are prepared for various industrial applications. CSI-fed Induction Motor (IM) drives are managed by using different control methods. Noteworthy methods include scalar Control (V/f), Input-Output Linearization (IOL) control, Field-Oriented Control (FOC), and Direct Torque Control (DTC). The objective of this work is to compare the dynamic performance of the aforementioned drive control methods for CSI-fed IM drives. The dynamic performance results of the proposed drives are individually analyzed through sensitivity tests. The tests selected for the comparison are step changes in the reference speed and torque of the motor drive. The operation and performance of different vector control methods are verified through simulations with MATLAB/Simulink and experimental results.

  • Recently, the need for designing multi-stage gear drive has been increased as the hear drives are used more in the applications with high-speed and small volume. The design of multi-stage gear drives includes not only dimensional design but also configuration design of various machine elements. Until now, however, the researches on the design of gear drives are mainly focused on the single-stage gear drives and the design practices for multi-stage gear drives, especially in configuration design activity, mainly depend on the experiences and 'sense' of the designer by trial and error. We propose a design algorithm to automate the dimension design and the configuration design of multi-stage gear drives. The design process consists of four steps. The number of stage should be determined in the first step. In second step, the gear ratios of each reduction stage are determined using random search, and the ratios are basic input for the dimension design of gears, which is performed by the exhaustive search in third step. The designs of gears are guaranteed by the pitting resistance and bending strength rating practices by AGMA rating formulas. In configuration design, the positions of gears are determined to minimize the volume of gearbox using simulated annealing algorithm. The effectiveness of the algorithm is assured by the design example of a 4-stage gear drive.

Drives and Motion Control Teaching based on Distance Laboratory and Remote Experiments

  • This paper presents the organisation and the technical structure of a remote controlled laboratory in the field of high dynamic drives and motion control. It is part of the PEMCWebLab project with the goal of providing students with practical experience on real systems in the field of power electronics and drives. The whole project is based on clear targets and leading ideas. A set of experiments can be remotely performed on a real system to stepwise identify a two axes positioning system and to design different cascaded control loops. Each single experiment is defined by its goals, the content of how to achieve them, and a verification of the results as well as the achieved learning outcomes. After a short description of the PEMCWebLab project, the structure of the remote control is presented together with the hardware applied. One important point is error handling as real machines and power electronics are applied. Finally, a selection of experiments is presented to show the graphical user interface and the sequence of the laboratory.

  • The new converter topology using full bridge inverter for the switched reluctance motor drives is proposed. The proposed SRM drives are supplied by the pulse voltage source, while the conventional drives are supplied by dc voltage source. Proposed converter maintains the characteristics of asymmetric bridge converter and has advanced characteristics.

  • In modern mechatronics new concepts of machines and processes are found by using the collected knowledge of all disciplines and by offering functional solutions. Most of the problems in the field of mechatronics demand technical innovations on the field of actuators, sensors and control methods. It demands also high dynamic drives with power electronics, able to cope with the new requirements. The paper presents some trends and industrial experiences with power components for high dynamic drives.

  • The new converter topology using half bridge inverter for the switched reluctance motor drives is proposed. The proposed SRM drives are supplied by the pulse voltage source, while the conventional drives are supplied by de voltage source. Proposed converter does not lose the characteristics of classic converter though the total no. of power switches are reduced.

  • Vibration characteristics of harmonic drives and cyclo drives are reviewed. Both of two have two resonance frequencies inherently. Especially, the amplitudes of cyclo drives are over 1.0g. The test of the robot also shows large amplitude of vibration in the speed which is coincide with the resonance frequencies of reducers.
