A transient heat transfer analysis and thermo-elastic analysis have been performed for the residual stress distribution on the fillet weldment used by finite element method. Specimen is fabricated single-pass fillet welding. This computation was performed for conditions including surface heat flux and temperature dependent thermo-physical properties using by heat input as parameter. Also, cut-off temperature of residual stress estimation by thermo-elastic analysis is determined. The fillet weldment were measured to determined their residual stress distributions for using hole-drilling method. As result, it was found that large tensile residual stress is about material yield strength, and the numerical simulation results for finite element method similar to residual stresses by hole-drilling method and other exiting research. Also, cut-off temperature is effectively determined by temperature which calculated maximum thermal stress equal to material yield strength.
The research is carried out to analyze the cost-effectiveness of blasting patterns with regard to the diameters and design of blasting holes. Blasting patterns for single diameter array, and mixed diameter array were comparatively analyzed with regard to drilling and charging time, and materials required. The number of blasting holes required for single array pattern and mixed array pattern were 138 and 93 holes, respectively. From the drilling time analysis, reduction in time and its efficiency of mixed pattern were 139 minutes and 25%, respectively, in comparison with single pattern. Charging time reduction and its efficiency of mixed blasting pattern were evaluated as 22.5 minutes per worker and 33%, respectively, compare to single blasting pattern. The explosive quantities of G1 and G2 required for single array patterns were 270 and 30, while those were 222 and 20 for mixed array patterns for tunnelling 4m. And single pattern required 45 more detonators than the mixed pattern. The evaluation of material required can also be positive parameter for cost reduction of tunnel construction.

Waterjets for rocks have various advantages of the non-contact and eco-friendly excavation using only water and abrasive. To overcome the problems (e.g., dust and noise occurrence) of the conventional drilling methods, waterjet excavation methods are broadly used. It is advantageous to operate a couple of nozzles in order to increase the waterjet excavation efficiency. When multiple nozzles are used, it is essential to analyze the excavation performance and shape according to the nozzle operation method. In this study, nozzle angle, horizontal distance between nozzles, and standoff distance were defined as nozzle operating parameters and the excavation performance and shape were analyzed. As a result of the experiment, when the nozzle angle and standoff distance are increased, the excavation depth is decreased and the effective depth tends to be increased. In addition, based on the experimental results, the excavation shape criteria required for nozzle insertion were proposed and optimal nozzle operating parameters were derived according to the criteria. This study result is expected to be used as useful basic research in the future development of multiple waterjet nozzles for rock drilling.
In step-by-step site selection for geological disposal of high-level radioactive waste, parameters necessary for site selection will be acquired through deep drilling surveys from the basic survey stage. Unlike site investigations of rock mass structures such as tunnels and underground oil storage facilities, those related to the geological disposal of high-level radioactive waste are not only conducted in relatively deep depths, but also require a high level of quality control. In this report, based on the 750 m depth drilling experience conducted to acquire the parameters necessary for deep geological disposal, the methodology for deep drilling and the geology, geophysics, geochemistry, hydrogeology and rock mechanics obtained before, during, and after deep drilling are discussed. The procedures for multidisciplinary geoscientific investigations were briefly described. Regarding in-situ stress, one of the key evaluation parameter in the field of rock engineering, foreign and domestic cases related to the geological disposal of high-level radioactive waste were presented, and variations with depth were presented, and matters to be considered or agonized in acquiring evaluation parameters were mentioned.

This research is a described result of experimental for the parameter's effecting the microhole machining by Nd-Yag laser, The parameters are energy, pulse interval time a kin of assisting gas and its pressure. The result reveals that parameter value of energy 0.08J, pulse 20Hz, interval time of 300 microseconds could be a good machining condition to make upper microhoel that is the diameter range of 50-70${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. At tat time the assistant gas such air, $O_2$, Ar $N_2$, was appelied. Assistant gas of air makes heat affected zone enlarge due to burning of material surface. Also it makes microhole irregular and damageable. Because of refusion caused by chemical reaction with $Al_2O_3$ ceramic material . The $O_2$(99.9%) has good characteristics to get good drilling and smooth surface on pressure of 0.2kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ but it is expensive. Ar, $N_2$ make material crack and burnning and proved that to be unappropriate but, Ar was a better than $N_2$.

In this paper we have discussed on the characteristics and modeling of machined geometry which was established for the case of round shape machining also the effects of externally machined profile are analyzed and its modeling realia-bility was verified by the experiments of roundness testing especially in lathe operation. In this study we established a harmonic geometric model with the parameter harmonic function. In general we can calculate the theoretical roundness profile with an arbitrary multilobe parameter. But in real experiments only 2-5 lobe profile was frequently measured, The most frequently measured ones are 3 and 5 lobe profile in experiments. With these results we can predict that these results may be applied to round shape machining such as turning drilling boring ball screw and cylindrical grinding operation in bearing and shaft making operation with the same method. in this study simulation and experimental work were performed to show the profile behaviors. we can apply these new modeling methods in real process for the predic-tion of part profile behaviors machined such as in round shape machining operation.
This is a parameter study for the direct fabrication of a large grain YBCO bulk superconductors using Y2O3, BaCO3 and CuO powders without any grinding step. The cracks, which have been formed due to volume contraction during calcination step, have been prevented by controlling the heating rate at 930~950 ℃. It has been observed that multi-grain growth has occurred due to the dissolution of Sm123 seed due to the retention of carbon in Ba-Cu-O melt. In order to accelerate the carbon release in prior calcination heat treatment, the reduction of pellet thickness and the drilling of artificial holes have been applied. Single-grain YBCO bulk superconductor has been successfully fabricated by stacking multiple thin slab. However, the crack formation has been rather prominent for the compact with artificial holes. The use of buffer pellet, which is supposed to act as diffusion barrier, has prevented the dissolution of Sm123 seed crystal and has led to the growth of single grain of high content of carbon containing specimen.

The inner structure of the triangular separate bar (TSB) was improved to enhance the productivity of the TSB flow meter by simplifying the machining process for making the flow meter. The cross section of upstream and downstream pressure chamber in the TSB was changed from triangle to circle, which make it possible to substitute the wire cutting by drilling in the process of machining the pressure chamber. The flow rate characteristics of the flow meters was calibrated with a laminar flow meter. Six kinds of flow meters whose diameters of pressure tap for measuring pressure of both upsteam and downstream pressure chamber were different one another were made. The effects of the pressure tap diameter on the flow rate characteristics of the TSB flow meter was little. The mass flow rate characteristics of the flow meters with increasing a non-dimensional parameter which includes the gas temperature, exhaust gas pressure and differential pressure at the flow meters and atmospheric pressure shows nearly linear relationship with a correlation coefficient of R=0.998.
A behavior model for screw connections is developed to provide a better representation of the nonlinear response of thin steel plate shear walls (TSPSWs) with infill plates attached to the boundary frame members via self-drilling screws. This analytical representation is based on the load-bearing deformation relationship between the infill plate and the screw threads. The model can be easily implemented in strip models of TSPSWs where the tension field action of the infill plates is represented by a series of parallel discrete tension-only strips. Previously reported experimental results from tests of two different TSPSWs are used to provide experimental validation of the modeling approach. The beam-to-column connection behavior was also included in the analyses using a four parameter rotational spring model that was calibrated to a test of an identical frame as used for the TSPSW specimens but without the infill plates. The complete TSPSW models consisting of strips representing the infill plates, zero length elements representing the load-bearing deformation response of the screw connection at each end of the strips and the four parameter spring model at each beam-to-column connection are shown to have good agreement with the experimental results. The resulting models should enable design and analysis of TSPSWs for both new construction and retrofit of existing buildings.
