  • A noble single-ended input, double-balanced mixer topology is proposed. The mixer incorporates the common-source amplifier input stage with inductive degeneration for impedance matching. The analysis based on simulations shows that the overall performance of the mixer is excellent and is adjustable by varying the input transistor size to give best characteristics for the given linearity specifications.

  • 광섬유 통신에서 넓은 대역폭 증폭을 이루기 위하여 광대역 증폭기가 필요하다. 증폭기의 대역폭을 넓히기 위해 C-대역과 L-대역 EDFA를 결합하여 사용하는 등의 여러 가지 방법이 제안되고 있다. 그 중 L-대역을 결합하는 방법이 실제 시스템 적용에서 가장 즉시 이용가능한 방법이라 할 수 있다. L-대역 EDFA의 경우 상대적으로 이득이 낮으며 효율이 떨어진다. 이득이나 효율을 높이기 위해서 FBG, 양방향 펌핑(bidirectional pump), 그리고 이중경로(double-pass) 구조를 이용하는 방법이 제안되었다. (중략)

  • EDFA의 이득(gain)과 잡음지수(noise figure)는 매우 중요한 특성 중의 하나이다. 전송 시스템에서 필연적으로 발생하는 ASE 잡음을 제거하는 것이 중요하다. EDFA의 중간에 필터(filter)와 아이솔레이터(isolator)를 삽입하여 불필요한 ASE를 제거함으로써 이득과 잡음지수를 향상시킬 수 있으며, 기존의 단일경로(single-pass) EDFA에서 필터의 위치가 40-60% 근처에서 이득과 잡음지수 향상이 가장 크게 된다. 그러나, 거울(mirror)을 사용하여 증폭 효율을 높인 이중경로(double-pass) EDFA에서 필터에 의한 이득 향상에 관한 연구발표는 아직까지 없다.   • This research was aimed at finding clues of improving behavioral affordance of the residential environment by scrutinizing change of the residents' behavior in a livingroom depending on the child's development stage. 30 double-income families with one child were the subjects of depths interview, survey, observation of this research, who were residents of 3-bedroom apartment housing in Seoul. They presented obvious different behavioral patterns according to their child's development stage. Breeding and playing behavior were prior to the others when their child was in childhood, then relaxing with TV and PC behavior were getting superior when their child was in school period. It is important that residents perceive that the numerous types of behavior may take place in a livingroom, some of which has originated in our long residential culture. And then real housing should be provided to them that has proper behavioral affordance to support all those behavior. Housings with minimum walls and rooms would make it possible. A family has its inner dynamics can live a sustainable life in that housing as a home, that lasts along their whole life.

Design of MMIC power amplifier using double tuned matching (Double tuned matching에 의한 MMIC 광대역 전력 증폭기의 설계)

  • In this paper, we have designed a 2 stage MMIC power amplifier which has flat gains of in-band and reasonable out-band cutoff characteristics using 0.5$\mu\textrm{m}$ MESFET libra교 of ETRI. For the 1st stave, we obtaind P$_{1dB}$ of 9.2 dBm and gain 10.8 dB using 6 finger D-MESFET and P$_{1dB}$ of 18.4 dBm and gain of 10.8 dB using 14 finger D-MESFET for the 2nd stage, which is power matched using LIBRA's embedded TUNER. Also in-band gain flatness and out-band cutoff characteristics are obtained by attaching LC tank in the output matching circuit. The designed 2 stage MMIC power amplifier has bandwidth of 0.95~2.8 GHz, gain of 20 dB and P$_{1dB}$of 17.2 dBm. Especially gain flatness of $\pm$0.8dB was obtained in 1.8~2.5 GHz frequency ranges. And chip size is 1.4$\times$1.4 mm..4 mm.

  • Power input in stirred vessel is especially important in the design of mixers, as well as the evaluation of mixing processes. A type of baffles in mechanically agitated vessels and power employed are major factors that determine the stirring efficiency in a large scale, multi-step processes. In the present study, power input in the totally baffled agitated vesseles was compared systematically in connection with several previous studies and adequate power input correlation was found to be : $Np_{(pitch)}=({\theta}/90^{\circ})Np_{(90^{\circ})}$ Power number correlation was dependent upon the distance of among the impeller in the agitated vesseles, as follows : $$Np=7.09(n_p)^{0.7}(\frac{b_(double)}{d})(\frac{H}{D})^{0.18}$$, $${n_p}^{0.7}(\frac{b_{(double)}}d)$$<2 $$Np=8.73\{(n_p)^{0.7}(\frac{b_{(double)}}{d})\}^{0.7}(\frac{H}{D})^{0.18}$$, $${n_p}^{0.7}(\frac{b_{(double)}}d)$$>2.

  • A displacement magnification mechanism is usually employed in a nano-positioning stage to achieve a large stage motion. A lever mechanism is the most widely used displacement magnifying mechanism. For more large stage motion, double or multiple lever mechanisms can be used. In this case, a more accurate analysis model is needed. This study proposes a more reasonable analysis model for a multiple lever mechanism based on the single lever mechanism model. This paper describes that the high equivalent stiffness of the lever is the most important factor reducing the magnification ratio of the lever mechanism through increasing the deflection of the link and including the axial displacement of the pivot.

  • The experimental results of the 2 stage Gifford-McMahon(GM) type pulse tube refrigerator (PTR) or cryopump are presented in this paper. The objectives of his study are to develop design technology of the integral type 2 stage PTR which rotary valve is directly connected to he hot end of the regenerator and acquire its improved performance. Design of the 2 stage PTR is conducted by FZKPTR(Forschungs Zentrum Karlsruhe Pulse Tube Refrigerator) program for the design of pulse tube refrigerators. The fabricated PTR has U-type configuration and incorporates orifice valve, double-inlet valve and reservoir as phase control mechanism. Rotary valve is used to make pulsating pressure and is directly connected to inlet of $1^{st}$ stage regenerator. From experiments, cooling performance map and pressure waveform at each point were measured for different operating frequencies. Experimental results show the best cooling performance with 2 Hz operation in spite of small pressure amplitude. The lowest temperatures of the 2 stage PTR were 16.9 K at the second stage and 58.0 K at the first stage. The cooling capacities achieved were 14.4 W at 79 K, the first stage and 3.6 W at 29 K, the second stage.

  • The position and size of holes in the partition of a double cavity are known to strongly affect the eigenfrequency of the longitudinal eigenmodes of the double cavity. To maximize or minimize the eigenfrequency of the hole-partitioned double cavity, two acoustical topology optimization problems are formulated and solved. While two sub-cavities are filled with air, a partition between them is assumed to consist of sub-partitions of variable acoustical properties. One design variable is assigned to each sub-partition, whose material properties are interpolated as those of an intermediate material between air and a rigid body. The penalty parameter of the used interpolation function is adjusted to obtain a distinct air and rigid body distribution at the converged stage in each acoustical topology optimization problem. A special attention is paid to the selection of initial values of design variables to obtain solutions as close to global optimum and symmetric as possible. To show numerical characteristics of these optimization problems, the formulated problems are first solved for the one-dimensional partition design domain and then for the two-dimensional partition design domain.

  • Press forming of magnesium alloy sheet is conducted at elevated temperatures to improve the press formability due to its low formability at room temperature. At elevated temperatures, magnesium alloy sheet formability is known to be very sensitive to the strain rate. In this paper, warm deep drawing tests of magnesium alloy AZ31 sheet was conducted under double forming velocity as well as single forming velocity to examine the formability change by forming velocity profile. The observed formability improvement by double forming velocity was analyzed by using the finite element analysis.
