  • ODFM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) technique is suitable for high speed data transfer both in wired/wireless channels, and is actively studied recently. Among them, WiBro based on IEEE 802.16 uses ODFM as its core technology, and is currently trying to expand market through commercialization. Therefore, if it's used for high speed moving object(KTX, airplane..etc) in near future, there is a possibility of ICI(inter-carrier interference) to occur due to DFS(Doppler Frequency Shift), a critical weak point of ODFM System. This study suggests 3 compensation techniques for Doppler effects in ODFM system operating through satellite, and confirms improved performance through constellation and BER curve.

  • A weather radar usually extracts the necessary information from the return Doppler spectrum moment estimates. Phase stability is a very important factor in obtaining accurate and reliable information in a Doppler weather radar system since the system phase noise may seriously degrade the weather spectrum moment estimation quality. These spectrum moment estimates are commonly obtained using the pulse pair method which is simple to implement and fast enough to process an enormous amount of weather radar data in real time. Therefore, an analytical method is developed in this paper to analyze and quantify the phase noise effects on the pulse pair spectrum moment estimates in terms of the phase noise power and broadness.

  • In this paper we analyze the effects of frequency offset, doppler spread, sampling and oscillator phase noise in mobile channels on orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM)system, Since this kind of distortions cause subcarrier interference which can be seen as additional noise, performance of OFDM system is degraded. We show the limitation of maximum carrier frequency offset and doppler frequency to maintain designated SNR, and analyze characteristics of the performance of OFDM systems considering the oscillator phase noise.

  • A new and effective Doppler effects compensation method based on constellation estimation as well as an average power saving strategy by modified modulation scheme utilizing zero point constellation are presented with theoretical analysis and relevant simulations. The suggested schemes are proved to be very effective for satellite OFDM signals relayed by power limiting transponder for the mobile terminal on high speed vehicles.

  • Intracardiac velocities were determined and the wave-forms described for 4 flow areas of the normal canine heart following administration of chemical restraint drugs including xylazine HCl, ketamine HCl, and thiopental sodium using pulsed wave Doppler echocardiography. The result was that xylazine HCl and thiopental sodium reduced intracardiac flow velocities through mitral, tricuspid, aortic and pulmonary valves. It is also thought that precautions are required before using these drugs. Patterns of wave-forms had no changes between control and treatment groups. Doppler echocardiography allows the clinician to determine flow velocities across the different valves and within the various chambers of the heart. It is shown that establishing normal values and those related to chemical restraint administrations and knowing what influences them should allow the clinician to non-invasively diagnose a variety of pathological cardiac conditions.

  • In a fluid velocity measurement radar, the velocity information can be extracted from Doppler spectrum estimates of the return signal. However, the Doppler frequency ranges are too low for the case of low velocity profile measurements resulting in the serious effects in the velocity measurement. Therefore, the improved method is analyzed to overcome this problem.

  • Among methods to eliminate aliasing effects, the method of increasing velocity scale gradually eliminated the phenomenon in which the direction of the blood flow appeared in reverse. It was done by increasing the velocity scale while maintaining other parameters in the same state. The method of setting the Doppler angle to $0^{\circ}$ did not show significant changes in the wave pattern of the spectrum according to the angle. In actual ultrasonography tests, more accurate tests are expected to be carried out by applying variations to the velocity scale under the considerations of speed, accuracy, and convenience of the examination. The results showed that blood flow velocity increases exponentially according to the Doppler Angle. When the angle goes over $70^{\circ}$, the velocity value increases to an unmeasurable state. This indicates that in blood flow velocity measurements, the blood flow velocity is very dependent on the Doppler Angle. It also shows that the error increases when the incidence angle to the direction of blood flow exceeds $60^{\circ}$, and when the angle exceeds $70^{\circ}$, the error becomes even greater. In addition, he experiment results showed that an angle below $60^{\circ}$ is appropriate and for blood flow velocity measurements in extremity vessels, the most appropriate Doppler Angle is from $45^{\circ}$ to $60^{\circ}$.

  • This study has investigated the effects of the defects in the probe elements influence Doppler images in the medical ultrasonic scanners. This work was implemented that the quality of Doppler images depended on the extent and location of the probe element defected. The probe performance was rated in terms of the number of piezoelectric elements lost and this was studied in the experiment by electrical disconnection to the elements. The results showed that Doppler velocity became rapidly reduced as the defected elements encountered with the element group activated at the Doppler mode, not as the flow velocity. The effect of the probe defect is decreased when the defects occurred at the element group activated for Doppler mode, as was increased the number of the elements. It was observed that the higher the flow velocity of Doppler flow phantom is, the wider the spectrum of Doppler is. And the Doppler velocity soared up and the dispersion of image brightness is increased when the defected elements got out of the elements activated at Doppler mode. The result showed that TADVP(time-average-Doppler-velocity-profile) is decreased with the increase of the probe element defect, especilly in the region of high frequency. It is expected that the research of various defects of probe elements are needed, and this study can be practical tools for probe based ultrasonic QA in the future.

  • A doppler shift is generated by moving a transmitter or receiver operated in communication systems. The doppler frequency shift between a transmitter and a receiver or the frequency offset present in transceivers must be removed to get the wanted system performance. FTS is used for preventing an accident from operating abnormally and for guaranteeing public protection. A launching vehicle's initial velocity is very fast in order to escape the earth and the amount of doppler shift is large. Recently many studies to adopt the next generation FTS are ongoing. To introduce new FTS, the effects of doppler shift on the performance of the new FTS must be studied. In this paper the doppler effect caused by launching vehicle's velocity affecting the performance of FTS receiver is investigated into two cases, one is for EFTS as a digital FTS and the other is for FTS using a tone signal. Noncoherent DPSK and noncoherent CPFSK are considered as the modulation methods of EFTS. In the cases of the doppler frequency shift of 200Hz present in EFTS using noncoherent DPSK and noncoherent CPFSK are simulated. Simulation results show that $E_b/N_o$ of 0.5dB deteriorates in the region of near BER of about $10^{-5}$ in RS coding. And there is no performance variation in $E_b/N_o$ or $E_b/N_o$ is worsened about 0.1dB in the same BER region for the case of using convolutional and BCH coding. Quadrature detector used in FTS using tone signals is not influenced by the doppler frequency shift.
