  • A 49-year-old female with a history of several neurosurgical and otolaryngologic procedures for occipital meningioma and cerebrospinal fluid leaks was diagnosed with pneumocephalus after a one hour flight on a domestic jet airliner. Despite multiple operations, the air appeared to enter the cranium through a weak portion of the skull base due to the low atmospheric pressure in the cabin. The intracranial air was absorbed with conservative management. The patient was recommended not to fly before a definite diagnostic work up and a sealing procedure for the cerebrospinal fluid leak site had been performed. Recent advances in aviation technology have enabled many people to travel by air, including individuals with medical conditions. Low cabin pressure is not dangerous to healthy individuals; however, practicing consultant neurosurgeons should understand the cabin environment and prepare high risk patients for safe air travel.

  • PURPOSES : The goal of this study is to analyze the travel cost according to transferring from rotary to roundabout in Korea. METHODS : This study gives particular attentions to investigating the existing 48 rotaries in Korea and building the networks of before and after improvements using VISSIM, and analyzing their travel costs. RESULTS : The main results are as follows. First, from the field survey, the domestic rotaries were analyzed to need many improvements of geometric structure for the effective operation. Second, the difference of travel cost at 3-legged rotaries were evaluated to be less than other types of rotaries due to low traffic volume. Finally, the travel cost of 4-legged and multi-legged rotaries were analyzed to rapidly increase by increasing volume. CONCLUSIONS : This study analyzes the effects using both real and simulation data unlike the existing studies. Also, this study suggests the future research topics which compare and evaluate the relations between real data and simulation outputs.

  • The object of this study is to evaluate whether the means of egress of Jechon Sports Center and Miryang Sejong Hospital, where massive fire human casualties occurred in 2017 and 2018 respectively, comply with NFPA 101(Life Safety Code), and to suggest the need for supplementation of domestic means of egress regulations. The study evaluated the number and arrangement of the means of egress, travel distance, common path of travel, dead end and discharge from exit for each building by applying the means of egress regulations of NFPA 101. As a result of the evaluation through NFPA 101, the travel distance was appropriate, but some of the other items except for the travel distance did not meet NFPA 101. The regulations that need to be supplemented are 1)occupant load calculation 2)egress capacity calculation 3)continuous concept of means of egress 4)concept of common path of travel. It is especially necessary to revise the requirement for fire door of the evacuation floor(normal 1st floor) of the stairwell in case of below the five story building.

  • The object of this study is to offer domestic and overseas travel informations efficiently for domestic tourists growing far beyond 15 million even now through user centered interface more convenient and accurate. In a method of research, 100 people were surveyed after recasting of evaluation questionnaire about UI design using 5-point Likert and nominal scale and additionally, the in-depth interviews were given to 10 people who use travel application frequently. In consequence, this interview revealed where users feel convenience and difficulty and want improvement of usability, information accuracy, etc. Finally, this study has a meaning to suggest new UI prototypes and various guideline about additional UI design on the basis of surveyed parts.

  • Travellers consider extra travel time to be arriving their destination because of uncertainty of travel. So it is important to make predictable highway by providing information of travel time variability to traveller so as to enhance level of service at highway. In order to make predictable highway, it is necessary to develope measures of travel time variability that travellers can easily understand. Recently advanced country including the United States, travel time variability index are actively studied. In earlier study, 95percentile of travel time is considered to be most important calculation index of travel time variability. In this study, is has focused on the propriety analysis of 95percentile of travel time in domestic transportation environment. Result of analysis, All of measures(80percentile of travel time, 90percentile of travel time, 95percentile of travel time) show the tendency to increase when case of weather factor occur compare to normal condition under LOS A~D. Especially 95percentile of travel time increased sensitively.

  • This paper aims to figure out the impact of employee's travel experience on their happiness and motivations to work. To this end, targeting 405 employees in Daegu, Gyeongsangnamdo, and Gyeongsangbukdo, SPSS Statistics 18.0 program was applied to analyze. Frist, in travel experience depending on general characteristics of the targets, there was significant difference in gender, educational background, and occupation but there was significant difference in age, marital status, and average income. Second, there was difference in travel experience depending on frequency of domestic travel but no difference in terms of the period of stay. On the other hands, travel experience depending on frequency of overseas travel showd significant difference in sub-factor, human network experience. There was significant difference in overseas travel depending on period of stay. Third, travel experience showed positive relation in employee's motivation to work and happiness. Fourth, as a result of reviewing impact of travel experience on employee's motivations to work and happiness, sub-factors like emotional, behavioral, relational experiences affected motivations to work significantly. Emotional experience and cognitive experience didn't affect significant impact. And sub-factors of travel experience like emotional, cognitive, and behavioral experiences affected happiness significantly. Emotional and relational experience were not significant. From the research above, it turned out that travel experience gives happiness to employees and provokes positive thinking and their motivations to work.

  • This study aims to examine a significant difference in performance of, and attitudes towards, environmental tourism among domestic tourism companies by their types and scale, and to propose a policy direction for a new certification program on environmental tourism. This study conducted a survey with 152 tourism accommodations and 150 travel agencies. As a result, this study found that tourism accommodations and a large scale of companies had participated in environmental management practices more often than travel agencies and a small scale of companies. Also, tourism accommodations were more likely to recognize well a relation between their business and environmental tourism, and were more likely to participate in a new certification program than travel agencies. A large scale of tourism accommodations showed more positive attitudes towards environmental tourism than a small scale of tourism accommodations. On the other hand, all of the travel agencies showed less positive attitudes towards environmental tourism regardless of their size. In conclusion, this study proposed that the government should adopt a different approach to a new certification program according to tourism companies' types and scale, also it should provide a variety of incentives and supports for tourism companies.

The city with brand equity can motivate their customers to visit the city regularly, and it can also affect their recommendation as an attractive tourist destination. This study aims to explore the concept of city brand equity and city reputation as a way to attract domestic and foreign tourists at a time when local governments are interested in and working to strengthen them. Research has shown that the city brand equity can have a positive impact on improving the city's reputation, and that the city brand equity can have a positive impact on travel intention as well. Furthermore, in relation to the city brand assets, the city reputation, and travel intention, it has been confirmed that the city brand equity has a direct effect on the travel intentions and that the city brand equity has an indirect effect on travel intention through the medium of the city reputation. It can be seen that cities should strive to manage the first and second city brand as a way to attract tourists.

  • In this paper, we compared domestic with foreign pilot lamps installed on the instrument board or electronic modules (car audio, air-conditional system, etc.) of an automotive vehicle by an accelerated life test in order to estimate the life of domestic pilot lamps. An accelerated life test method was developed and the relation of the life and voltage stress was analyzed. The main results are as follows; i) $B_{10}$ life of pilot lamp is above 5,000 hours, vehicle travel time for 10 years. ii) the life of domestic pilot lamp is longer than that of foreign thing. iii) the life distribution of domestic pilot lamp is wider than that of foreign thing. iv) it is possible to promote import replacement of automobile pilot lamp.
