Relationship Between Management Practices of Hamburger Chain Restaurants and Job Satisfaction of Restaurant Employees (햄버거 체인점의 관리실태와 종업원 직무만족과의 관계)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the management practices and to measure the degree of job satisfaction of employees of hamburger chain restaurants in Seoul. Management practices were evaluated in terms of service, quality, cleanliness and shift management in 30 hamburger restaurants of 3 domestic and 3 foreign chain brands. Employee job satisfaction was measured by using questionnaires of Job Descriptive Index. 200 employees from the same 30 restaurants were participated in the survey. Results were analyzed by using SAS program in terms of t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation. The results are as follows: 1. The factor of quality got the highest score and cleanliness the second, service the third, and shift management got the lowest score in the evaluation of management practiecs of hamburger chain restaurant. The foreign brands showed significantly higher scores than the domestic ones in every measured factors. 2. The factor of coworkers got the highest score and then supervision, the work-itself, promotion and pay got the next highest scores in descending order in measured Job satisfaction. The foreign brands showed significantly higher scores than domestic ones in JDI. 3. The foodservice employees rated work-itself was considered by employees the most important job satisfaction factor, and the next important factor was pay and then coworkers, supervision, and promotion. 4. The significant positive relationship between management practice factor of shift management and all the factors of job satisfaction except the factor of pay were found.

Linguistic Characteristics of Domestic Men's Formal Wear Brand Names

  • The main purpose of this research was to examine the linguistic characteristics of domestic men's formal wear brand name. Four linguistic characteristics of language type, combined structure type of language, word class, length of brand name were investigated in this research and also examined the difference between brand type. For sample selection, the 209 men's fashion brands were selected from '2009 Korea Fashion Yearbook' and then, 25 brands which could not collect proper informations about the brand name or naming were excluded. Among total 184 men's brand names, 66 men's formal wear brands were selected and studied. For data analysis, quantitative evaluation of the frequency and qualitative evaluation have been used. The result as follows.; (1) Seven language types were found in domestic men's formal wear brand names. English has been used the most, then followed by Italian and French. (2) For combined structure type of brand name language, the single word used the most, followed by separately combined word type, artificially combined word, and unified word type. (3) The most frequently used the type of word class was noun, and followed by phrase, adjective, and verb. In the noun type, 6 different types which expressed a person, concrete & abstract entity, place, acronym, and neologic were found. For phrase, only noun type was appeared, however, 6 out of 20 phrases were abbreviated type. All eight adjective brand names implied an attributive character of the brand such as 'Dainty' or 'Solus(Solo)'. (4) The long name used most and then followed by normal and short length of brand name. Looking by the number of syllable, 4 syllables appeared the most and then followed by 3, 5, 6, 2 & 7 showed the same rate, and 8 syllables. (5) The result which compared the difference according to each brand type showed a difference in its language type, language combined style, word class, but length of brand name.

Research of International and domestic design for developing of outdoor products (아웃도어 상품개발을 위한 국내·외 브랜드 디자인 연구)

  • The increase in the consumption of outdoors sportswear is not because of an increase in sales from hiking enthusiasts but rather the general public's desire to wear them as everyday clothing. We expect that the market for the outdoors sportswear will grow gradually as people feel the need to wear extra outerwear for protection from wind everyday. Furthermore, as the consumers' demands for these outerwear increase, their desire for more variety increases as well. Five prominent domestic brands were chosen for the analysis. The selection method included two factors: 1) the brands with the highest sales figures in the last five years 2) brands that were mentioned most frequently in fashion articles (i.e apparel news, fashion biz) from 2009 to 2011. the goal is to analyze each of the brands' different concepts of outerwear design so that the results from the analysis can be used to develop better more diverse products in the market and satisfy with the consumers' need. In the end we have to develop better technology and more diverse designs in order to meet the increase in consumers' need. They are interested in sportswear and functional clothing; we have to satisfy their need. for diverse selections in their outerwear and this is especially the case with consumers in their teens and twenties.

A Study on Chinese Students' Clothing Purchase and Wearing Condition (중국 유학생의 의복 구매 및 착용 실태에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to find ways to increase sales and enhance of the competitiveness of the Korean fashion brands expanding into the Chinese market by conducting a survey of the Chinese female students in order to gather data regarding their preferences and features so that clothes that are more suitable for Chinese women can be designed. For this study, a survey was conducted to 305 students attending universities or language schools located in the metropolitan areas near Seoul who had exposure to Korean clothes. The study results can be summed up as follows: According to the analysis, the Chinese students preferred comfortable, practical, and casual styles. And the analysis shows that they prefer achromatic monotonous colors rather than vivid colors or splendid and complex patterns. The students felt that Korean clothes reflected the trends very well, and they also showed very high satisfaction with the design. The most common way of gathering information for their clothing purchase was through Internet search and magazine advertisements. The survey showed that the biggest strength of the Korean fashion brands was their ability to reflect the fast changing fashion trends in their designs, and they were very much satisfied with their diverse designs and colors. Among the domestic fashion brands, they prefer domestic SPA brands such as MIXXO, SPAO, and 8IGHT SECONDS.

A Study of Somatotype Characteristics of Infants and Sizes Specifications of Apparel Products for Infants I (유아(乳兒)의 체형특징(體形特徵)및 의류제품(衣類製品) 치수규격(規格)에 관(關)한 조사(調査) 연구(硏究) I)

  • This study was aimed at reviewing the preceding studies regarding infants' physical characteristics and comparatively examining their apparel specifications among countries, and thereupon, surveying the sizes and specifications of each special infant apparel brand in korea, and thereby, providing for the basic data useful to consumers when they choose infants' apparel sizes and specifications, and at the same time to brand makers for effective exchange of information. Thus, domestic special infant's apparel brands were surveyed for their own sizes and specifications, and thereby, the basic data useful to consumers when they choose their infants' apparel sizes and specifications as well as to brand makers when they exchange information among themselves were produced. The results of this study can summarized as follows: As a result of surveying the general trend of the infant apparel brands in korea, it was found that 5 brands had been established before 1990's, and that the remaining 7 ones had emerged during 1990's. When viewed in terms of brands' originality, it was disclosed that 10 brands were korean originals, while 2 brands were foreign ones licensed. On the other hand, as a consequence of surveying the target age groups of each brand, it was found that the targe age groups differed much ranging from 0 to 72 months or more narrowly from 12 to 24 months, which means that the infant age has yet to be defined for all the brands. In the case of the domestic infant-clothing product respect of inner wear, 8 clothing companies are producing the the outside clothing. In the outside clothing, from 6 months to 36 months' infant is the object, and 6m, 12m, 18m, 24m, 30m, 36m appeared with the fact that it produces in 6 sizes. In the case of the f and the g company which has the difference of size control is big, the f company is producing infant clothing for the age 0 to 72 months in 6 size which the difference of the measurement between the size is a lot to be appear, on the other hand, the g company is producing infant clothing for the age 0 to 6 months in 6 size which the difference of the measurement between the size is small to be appear.

Effect of Perceived Cosmetic Brand Personality on the Preference of Women Consumer in 20~30's (20~30대 여성 소비자들의 화장품 브랜드 개성 지각이 선호에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine effects of perceived cosmetic brand personality on the preference of women consumer in 20~30's who started applying adult makeup and were sensitive to cosmetics and makeup techniques to provide domestic cosmetic brands with unique personality marketing resources. A questionnaire developed by researchers was used and 538 questionnaires were used for data analysis. Data was analyzed by SPSS PC(Ver. 16.0). Factor analysis, one-way ANOVA, and muliti regression analysis were done. The findings of this study were; Domestic cosmetic brands' personality factors were aesthetics, performance, interest, competency, and boldness. In case of Isaknox, women consumers in 20-30's preferred it when they perceived its aesthetics, performance, and competency. They preferred Lacvert when they perceived its aesthetics and interest, while they preferred The Face Shop when they perceived its aesthetics, performance, and competency. They preferred domestic cosmetic brand was Hera most, followed by Laneige, Isaknox, Lacvert, and The Face Shop in a descending order. Also they preferred Laneige when they perceived its competency and Hera when they perceived its aesthetics and interest.

A Study on the Components of Various Domestic and Foreign Made Mayonnaises (국내외(國內外) Mayonnaise의 성분(成分)에 관한 연구(硏究))

  • Six bands of domestic and American mayonnaises, four brands of Japanese mayonnaise and one home made mayonnaise were analyzed for chemical and fatty acid and sterol compositions. The results obtained as follows; 1. Moisture content was observed $13.3{\sim}22.4%$ of total samples, but H and L samples of American mayonnaise was observed 54.4 and 62.3% for the purpose of low caloried products. 2. Linoleic and linolenic acid were 50.3 and 7.9% and P/S ratio was observed $3.50{\sim}4.32$ over ideal ratio. 3. Cholesterol contents in O and N samples of Japanese mayonnaise were 166.07 mg/100 g product, 155.89 mg/100 g product. These figures are 3 times of domestic samples, and 4.8 times of American samples. Cholesterol content in home made mayonnaise was 90.75 mg/100 g product. 4. Little variation in stigmasterol content was observed among the brands of mayonnaise in contrast there was wide variation in sitosterol content ranged from 38.37 mg/100 g product to 409.16 mg/100 g product.

Overseas Fashion Trends Acceptance of Korean Fashion Designers (한국 패션디자이너의 해외 패션트렌드 수용도)

  • The purpose of this study is Korean fashion designers' tendency and degree to adopt and receive overseas fashion trends, as a founding work to suggest a direction for Korean fashion industry and designers to select and adopt overseas fashion trends. 204 survey results out of 270 ones from the same number of fashion designers in 68 brands, who work in domestic mass-fashion female-garment brands for more than 3 years, are used as final analysis data. For the data analysis, SPSS, ${\chi}^2$-verification, variable analysis and MANOVA are executed, and statistical significance is verified at significance level 0.05. Conclusions obtained from the result and discussions of study are as follows: 1) The periods for domestic fashion industry to need to adopt overseas fashion trends are during 1992-94, and 1986-88. 2) There are discrepancies of utilization of design factors per brand concept. 3) When a line which is not suitable to domestic consumers is presented as subject of fashion trend, there are difficulties to reflect, and per brand concept there are differences of reflection sequence. 4) Whether or not to develop independent themes is dichotomized per brand concept.

  • The purpose of this study is to survey and analyze the general conditions of infants\` apparel brands in Korea, review the sizes and specifications of each brand, analyze the differences and correlations among brands, and thereby, present the reasonable sizes and specifications for infants\` apparels in consideration of domestic and foreign specifications and infants\` health conditions. For this purpose, 13 brands manufacturing the apparels for the infants aged from 0 to 4 were sampled, and their design directors and outside pattern suppliers were surveyed through direct interviews. The collected data were processed for frequencies, mean, median and mode.

  • The objectives of this study are to observe the theoretical background of brand extension, to compare & analyze the cases of brand extension in Domestic and abroad based on the existing studies to present the characteristics of brand extension strategies, and to contribute to the establishment of marketing strategies of brand portfolio for the globalization of national brands. As for the methods of research, literature review and case study were combined. As a result of the case analysis, fashion business possessing a lot of brands have powerful competitiveness when they consider the brands as one unit and manage them with definition and insight to produce mutual synergy. Given that brand environment is being complicated and diversified with market segmentation, brand extension, various product groups, numbers of competitors, and complex distribution structure, the hierarchical structure of brand may have even more significance as a strategy.
